I’m glad I started working in Gloucester recently :D

There seems to be a few bikes going missing in the area, a mate had 2 stolen in Ross recently

The lever at the top should push down to release, not pull up. There is a second internal cable which can be adjusted, drop all the air out and remove the lower tube (instructions on pinkbike) and you’ll see it at the base of the upper. Unless you’ve got an internally routed one, in which case you’re on your own and I have no idea :-)

.5 of a mm? How hard would it have been to make it bigger to start with…? I’ll probably give it a go once the spare barb arrives I ordered, guaranteed I’ll break the existing one if I don’t have a spare

Let me know how it goes! I’ve attached the hose with zip ties but it’s not the prettiest :?

Cheers, I thought so but wanted to check. I’m guessing by modification you mean enlarging the hole in the frame?

There was an article on pinkbike a while back on it and there’s a couple of videos on YouTube I think. It was pretty simple when I did mine, just don’t try to take the seal off the top shaft as it’s a pig to get back on. The internals are sealed so it’s pretty basic

American Classic. I’m running the am version which have been great, a mates got the newer wider ones called, err… Something. Anyway, you get the drift

Cheers all. A st swampthing would be ace, used to run them on my old bike. No one seems to make an equivalent tho in 29

No one running the magic mary now it’s wet?

I’d looked at the mud x but it seems exactly the same as the storm. I was looking at the 2.2 beaver and magic mary as they’re bigger and maybe a bit more aggressive

Want, want, want. That’s me  draggy I don’t mind, I’d rather stay upright on the downs when it’s greasy, rocky and steep.

Stumpy evo (probably a warranty fail though) or enduro.

Fronts are fine. The only problem I had with my set is that the rear hub uses an odd bearing size, but as you’re after front only that doesn’t matter.

The high roller 2s are very good, prefer it to the spesh butcher up front. Went up tubeless very easily too.

Rode there a few weeks ago on an evening uplift as I live fairly local. The group I was with were all on 5/6″ trail bikes and had a great time. Most stuff is rollable if you don’t want to hoof it. The new pro jump line looks bloody scary tho. It’ll be fine in the dry, but I’d imagine it gets pretty slippery in the wet as there’s not much rock compared to Antur or BPW. Worth a day out tho.

I thought the 29er butcher was really good, but I’ve had a few rides on the hr2 (admittedly in 650b flavour) and I’ve been really impressed. So much so I’ll probably put one on the front of my bike. In the standard compound (not 3c) they’re not too expensive either

I’ll second the saracens head. Good beer, wood burner in the winter, landlords a good friend, trails finish close by and I now live just across the river. Also the option of a tab when cash runs out, which is not always a good idea

Some bikes are more prone to it,my stumpy evo particularly. Tried all the above fixes, and in the end spesh admitted there was a problem and swapped the rotors for floating ones. Job done.

Corsas are good, had a couple which were used as biking vehicles. Me and the Mrs got 2 large 29ers in the back of hers and weekend kit, and back in the day a mate and I did a weeks riding and camping in Morzine out of one. It was a touch cosy!

Edit – it’ll probably be a wheels out job in a corsa. I’ve got a focus and can get my bike in with just the front wheel out

One of the Spesh evos and use the cash left over on upgrades. It’s what I did :D

Yep, just using tape and stans sealant. Went up very easily.

Theres an article on stripping the sram type 2 mechs on the bicycling Australia website. Doesn’t look the easiest of tasks.

Rode it Thursday night. Plenty of puddles after rain in the day but all good apart from that

FOD from Monmouth tomorrow and probably a spin around Staunton Sunday if I’m not too hungover. Kimbers, enjoy cwmcarn. Did it Wednesday after work, it’s hard work but great fun

A mate of mine is currently racing and riding the one that’s been featured in dirt a few times in the last couple of years and he loves it. I’m pretty sure it’s got an angleset fitted tho.

Ta. Jockey wheels are fine, it’s the cage itself that’s gone. I’ll have a word with the bike shop

Yep. I’d talk to climb on and try to do a deal with the bike on some. Unless you can get those beavers cheap still in 29?

Yes, but as good as storms around here.

I’m single, so it’ll be a couple of beers and watching “battlefield LA” once I’ve put the bike back together. All very romantic

Sram x9 cranks, drop the spider and rings off and put an absolute black or similar ring on.

I’m surprised widge hasn’t posted already… Anyway, he’s running a storm at the back and a big beaver (fnarr) at the front. Seems to work for him.

I’m running a sram adaptor which allows me to run a standard GPX bb and crank on a PF30 frame (specialized) as I’m also running a sram crank without the spider. It’s been in a few months and so far is creak free. Wasn’t expensive and came from Crc.

there’s a few Specialized Roval wheel sets available, all tubeless ready. I’ve got a set of American Classic AMs (also tubeless ready), very nice but more expensive than a set of stans / hope hoops.

I’ve got a Stumpy evo comp 29er with some upgrades (Pikes, 1×10, stronger wheels)and it’s a cracking bike (and still much, much cheaper than the carbon comp). I like how it looks as well

The shop demo Enduro comp is all black from memory, so none of the blue bits. Maybe see if a dealer will part with one? I managed to get a bit of a deal on mine as well, so it is worth asking.

So if it’s a swan for 650b, would I need ostrich feathers in 29er wheels as they’re bigger? And does it still have to be red?

What’s been said above really, pikes or revelations if budget allows. Sektors are good, but I did notice the difference in damping between them and the revs. I’ve also got some 140 revs I need to sell, email me if you’re interested. They’re off a 2014 stumpy evo. I’m a tart and replaced them with pikes

Dh or xc? There’s xc stuff in Bringewood and across the road in Mortimer’s forest but most of it’s not easy to find or link together unless you know it. The dh is easy, head out of Ludlow towards wigmore until you get to the top of the hill. Turn right on to a forest road, marked as hazel coppice. Then just follow your nose to the top. There’s a coupe of Ludlow mtb Facebook pages as well plus Pearce cycles.
