The Rockshox trailhead app gives a reasonable starting point, just put the shock’s serial number in

https://trailhead.rockshox.com/en/ as I can’t seem to just add a link

Anywhere in the Argentine Valley / Molini area. Cop Killer as a starter

Wales may well do their own thing, Mark Drayford likes to go his own way on things (20 mph speed limits etc)

I work with guide dog owners (and visually impaired people in general) in Wales and pavement parking is a nightmare in lots of places. It’ll be interesting to see if other areas do the same

Basque are great and the backcountry tour we did felt pretty remote at times. However I’d go to Molini as I love it there but it’s more enduro than xc and in October the weather isn’t guaranteed. Food is great too

I like my DT Swiss rims, but for similar money the Reserve alloy rims have a crash replacement policy which DT Swiss don’t.

That conversion kit if for changing the axle length, it’ll still be 30mm diameter the same as your existing one. I’ve never seen a kit that would give a set of Turbines a 24mm axle.

Check the cassette. Some are known to be creaky if loose or dry

In a recommend what you have, Stif have dropped the price of the Squatch to £1680

I unscrewed the bottom plate with the actuator part of a turn (I can’t remember how much) so it ran behind the pivot on my cotic. It’s been like it 3 years with no issues.

Yep, Jawbones are now racing jackets. I bought a set of Oakley prism lenses for mine before Christmas so they were available then. Revant lenses are good, but last time I looked they’d stopped shipping to the UK?

Edit – as linked by Houns

Les Arcs is much more natural feeling than Les Gets, as said above there’s loads of unofficial trails on Trailforks as well as the marked trails. I believe the Funi is open this year as well which helps as the replacement bus was a pain at times.

We’ve never been able to put a decent ride together at La Plagne. Most of the separate areas aren’t linked by lifts (or they weren’t anyway) which is probably why it’s now marketed as an ebike resort as there’s lots of pedalling needed to get around. We also found that just because trails were on the resort map (that you needed to buy) didn’t mean they actually existed on the ground…

No idea on Meribel but as I’m planning on going next year I’m also interested to get feedback from others

Have they also updated the size restrictions on bike bag size? Last time I looked a fairly standard one like my Polaris bag was too big

@philstone, are they fining for riding all unofficial trails or just that one? Might be heading back at the end of next month, or maybe not if they’re cracking down on unofficial trails

I’ve ridden a couple of variations of this as an evening ride, should be easily doable on an eeb.

Mondraker. The seat stays and top tube on my partner’s Foxy are perfectly in line

It would work on the front, you’d just use a 10mm adaptor on the drive side and reddish the rim to keep the rotor in the same place. I can’t think of a way for it to work on the back in the same way without a terrible chainlike or having to use a centerlock to 6 bolt adapter and then a boost adapter bolted to that.

Stif Squatch is fairly short travel (130mm) and slack (64 degrees). No luggage mounts and only 1 for a bottle so might not be as useful for carrying stuff

I couldn’t find anything either. All the adaptors seem to go the other way – so fitting a 12 speed ispec EV shifter to older style brake levers is fine but you can’t fit an 11 speed shifter to an EV style brake

I looked into it a couple of years ago having taken the snowtrain a few times in the past. The biggest issue was that a typical bike bag was larger than the rail companies would allow on the train. My Polaris bag definitely was 😕

transfering bike bags across Paris would be a pain but doable but that doesn’t help if they refuse to take the bike on the train.

Silver works well (slightly biased as that’s what I’ve got on my blue rocketmax) especially for pedals as they don’t scuff up like black ones do.

Cheers, they had the right serial numbers but the pictures threw me showing the other lockrings. I’ve ordered a couple anyway to have as spares, can’t not for a tenner an end!

Those Centrelock rotors – are they the ones that use the cassette tool or the ones that use the BB tool? Google isn’t helping…

RF Atlas and Turbine can be had in shorter lengths and the offset for boost is in the chain ring not the crank. Avoid the Aeffect cranks as they use the same length crank arm for all lengths but just drill the hole in a different place for 165-175.

I’ve been running one for over a year, I’d guess it’s done over 1500 miles and is still working fine. That can creak a bit where the 2 sections join but a bit of grease easily solves that

I’ve just ordered a 2nd spare at that price. The Helix ones are stupid money

I live in the Wye Valley near Monmouth and it’s pretty great from a riding point of view. In the UK I’d be tempted by the Tweed area just due to the lack of limestone over the winter as some of our trails get pretty lethal.
Internationally after just coming back from Molini I’d say the Italian Riviera, riding in Molini, San Remo and Finale and obviously the coffee, gelato and limonchello

the Polaris Axial Pod Bike Bag should do – mine fits a gen 3 large RocketMAX with no issues and a mate has put his XL (XXL?) Pole into his.

Might be worth checking rotor wear, my Cura 4s started wailing badly when hot no matter how I adjusted them or cleaned them or threw new pads in. Measured the rotors and they were badly worn, new rotors have fixed it 🤞

I have tried the Ice Tech rotors in the past and found them really easy to bend / warp.

Thread bump! If the the Transarc is shut, how do you get up to the trails above 1950? Or is it just the bottom section from 1800 to the mid station?

Something like the Doro 780X is as simple as it gets, if necessary you can program all 3 buttons to call the same person. The RNIB used to be a good place to look but not anymore by the looks of it. The problem with all mobile phones is making sure it’s working and charged when it’s needed and not buried in a drawer with a flat battery

Adult Social Care might pay for a linked alarm, your neighbour would need to be assessed though. If not you can rent them through Age UK or similar

Smug here with a 3 with no issues. I was very tempted by a 6, maybe I’ll wait a little longer!
