Any oil is of course better than none
don’t see any advantage for air tool oil over others.
Chainsaw oil let down with a little white spirit or paraffin is good.

I am using EP90 Gear oil left over from my landy trailing days smells a bit
but is hard to wash off

    Ok Back again

cheapest convertion would be a single xml in your old housing if it is made from aluminium
    approx cost prices

xml on 20 mm star £5
optic or reflector £2 to £10 ish depending on size
    driver £10 to £25 ish
    switch £5 to £10 ish

heatsink machined to go in your case ??? upto £10 ish

couple of hours work and return postage ???

with the likes of Smudges light £67 I believe at the moment though I think he has some old stock going cheaper .the sensible approach would be get one of those and see (as Rusty mac says ) if you can sell your old battery and charger or just give it away .

and cheaper lights available upgrades dont seem to be as viable as three years ago .

I could do you one of my 4 xpg mini light heads to suit your battery
    for about £100

700 lumens is easy. for your 11.1 volt battery

1 or 2. XML LEDs and a Bflex driver would give an easy 1400 lumens with good runtimes

    back later with more details

Give it a try and see what they do. towpaths good as they can only go in two directions

just need to be quick on the brakes when they stop to sniff and pee

I am not sure what’s in your light could be XPEs or XPGs or even a combination of both .
you say 2 settings so its around the time of the switch in both leds and drivers ( latest had 3 settings )
Software drive current can be upped quite easily at the expense of runtime but again I am not sure what Tons was set up for He was going to use it for alot of commutes so run time might have been the set up drive current.
I would need to see it in the workshop to test .

Yep will certainly get the proto out there when its sorted.

    Hi Mboy
Just back from hols and saw this thread then your email

cracking light and was my best for using the available lumens for lighting up the whole trail but sadly no more will be made .
mainly due to the world domination of the DX and chinese stuff also the advance of the leds .
I have ideas for a Liberator X4 and am playing around with a prototype but dont know if it is a viable product yet
in this world of cheap lights and less disposable income .

Tons old light can be tweaked software and led wise to bump up the lumens if you ever feel the need for more .

    update.
Landlord did not give permission but also is not bothered about the lost bush .

Sam is going to have a chat with neighbour and tell him he’s been a bastid
also going to point him to this thread .

I suggested a call to the local newspaper and give them the story of MBE recipient taking law into his own clippers.

SJ IMHO its got a fair bit to do with the tennant
as yes its a rented house but its also a home and as such she has a right to not have her neighbour coming in to her rented garden and pruning the rented trees .

there was a shed in the corner of the next door garden before the new fence went up .
neighbour said they wanted to come in to Sams garden to paint that side of the fence while they were at the party so Sam OK`ed that .
came home from party and bush gone and laid where the shed used to be .

no the fallout was sams landlord refused to pay half for the fence saying he owned the fence on the other side of the garden and had nowt to do with this fence.

    LOL @ sc-xc

I guess its up to the landlord to pursue for replacement costs if he can be bothered.
