    Footflaps
It will never overheat cos the driver keeps tabs on the temp and when it hits 60c it dims until it cools down a bit

this happens in about 3 minutes on the desk on full not yet tried it on the bike

I dont know what they were thinking when the updated the range

look at the similarities of the vision 2 to the Smudge luminator and glow worm , the vision 2 with a couple of xmls is a great little unit

I think they maybe over complicated the R8 and the march of the chinese cheapies has taken its toll and probably hit them quite hard.

DO NOT USE SILICON it reacts badly with the bitumen in the felt and will fail .

B&Q have small tins of bitumen felt adhesive for jobs like this so why not use the right stuff for the job

Mounting is its weak point but with a standard tripod screw mount on the base its easy to bodge up a solution

the night shots were with a converted Gopro chesty and todays I cobbled up this frame mount from some delrin I had kicking about in the garage.

it works well if I lower it on the frame so as to see the wheel and forks working

Been out today to try and get some impression on the cameras performance
got 3 little vids and am pretty impressed.

straight from camera to Youtube no messing about and light levels a large selection .

first vid is just a panorama in weak sunshine .
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nmerpeoddc

second is a ride through the forest and here it is good what you dont see here is the dark bits were very dark but the camera coped well
and quite fast to change from dark to sunshine better I think than the Gopro 1 and 2 for low light stuff
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCxaep39ong

third video is on the road in fairly bright sunshine and again pretty good quality .
another impressive thing imho is the steady shot stabilization

    Useless carpet fitters
I do all doors that need it when I fit flooring .
it’s a nice little earner and when you have taken it off already
what would have happened if it was the front door you can’t just leave it off
    for the night .

    trout

Well can say that it does beat the gopro 1 and 2 in the low light stakes
Nothing exciting just on the back road for a trial

    trout
    Free Member

Yes just unpacked it and not easy to mount but the standard tripod screw means it should be easy to make up various mounting solutions .

I wanted it for its supposedly better low light performance as the gopros were dreadful

Problem with these GU type led fittings is getting rid of the heat before it kills the leds . and as they are in ceilings dont get a good air flow

so they use low power leds underdriven

The light itself is this extrusion and cover
    http://www.led-tech.de/en/Aluminium-Profiles/CoverLine-LED-Profile-c_188_151.html

I have a Maxflex driver and 16 volt wall wart to power it but looking on the ledtech site there may be better driving solutions available .

Chuck 6 XMLs in that extrusion and power it with one of these

    http://www.led-tech.de/en/Aluminium-Profiles/CoverLine-LED-Profile-c_188_151.html

will be around 4200 lumens and about 40 watts power consumption

outside light 6 XPG leds while it does not light up the garden like daylight its plenty bright enough in the half that matters

2 of em would do the whole garden or use 6 XMLs

power consumption is about 18 watts

It is very easy to patch up a Karndean floor assuming you can still get matching tiles .

I am a Flooring fitter BTW

Hot air gun / paint stripper to get the old tiles up without damaging the floor underneath .

Mmm never seen that review before good stuff
and I even see a Lib in there 😀 not too shabby either .

I would not recommend the Dominator for road commute it is a bit too wide and would dazzle oncoming traffic as I fear would the Fluxient .

From my stuff I would use a spider either on the bars or the helmet
though the helmet would be better so as to turn it slightly when faced with oncoming traffic

WMB review Price and weight are wrong though

    and beamshot

Yes I could rustle up a demo no problem had the original floating around all last year

my garage is led lit granted from 16 volt mains adapters. but will work from a li ion battery too
though a good battery would be an 18 volt power tool battery .

6 LEDs on a strip of aluminium with a defuser and it works a treat

also done the same for an outside light above the kitchen window

if you are interested I will post some pics tomorrow

I have done over 250 hope vision upgrades to XML since starting and have found that the cable fatigues where it leaves the strain relief
so have to chop off about an inch to get back to good wire .

and in a few cases water has got into the cable and corroded the wire core pretty badly this needs a new cable

another issue is muck or corrosion in the connectors a squirt of wd40 or silicon spray or similar helps here

for some strange reason its only the chinese who seem to get the really good leds one led = 1800 lupins

us normal folks can only get the lower powered leds

by the ebay and chinese lumens my light is 5400 lumens

but its only about 2500 normal lumens

can`t blame WMB for the price as it did say that on my site when it was tested daft thing was there were not going to be any more spiders or lights of any kind but I had lent a spider to Guy the WMB stuff tester but not with any intention of a mag review at the time .
It was only when I found out it was going in the mag that I ordered a batch of housings from my machine shop . so its been a bit of a panic getting some built up as only got them back from the anodisers on friday

it was only because the chinese have no light like it that I wanted to give it another shot .

weight of the light head and mount is 160 grams small battery which of course does not go on the helmet is 200 grams

I have not yet had a chance to do a runtime test but the on paper runtimes are
small battery 2.6 amp hour 14.8 volt
    low 9 hours
    med 3.75 hours
    hi 1.5 hours
large battery 4.4 amp hour 14.8 volt
    low 15.7 hours
    med 6 hours
    hi 2.5 hours

low is plenty of light to ride most trails hi is lunatic bright but good fun

up to date prices are on my website .
