no you wont need all that an easy way to control the temp specially in the cooler months is to get one of the rubber Gorilla buckets and a fish take heater
and pop the fermenting bucket in that with some water and the heater set at the desired temp.

    @ Samuri
the noise was a small fan in my fermenting cupboard
also has a small bar heater for the winter months

all controlled by an STC-1000 controller

I have no cooling attached but the cupboard underneath is below ground level on 3 sides and keeps a constant temp of 17c at the moment where I moved the brew to

    @ NZCol
no idea on yeast numbers I used some yeast washed from a previous brew
which had been restarted with some cooled wort to check it was still alive

Hoping not too much damage from the few hours at 22c I will have to wait and see :D

    Cheers Singletrackmind
    Hope the recovery was good

i had a yeast starter made prior to pitching ans pitched at 19c
its in a temp controled cupboard but had reached 21c this morning so moved to a cooler place
just after taking the video , wort temp down to 20 c now

Yes very interested in the coolers will send some dosh later today

The 1/10 gearing is pretty good but living in the hilly north a lower gear would be nice
But can get up most of my local stuff with the stock gears,

No idea on mud performance as its been cracking and dry since mine arrived in march .

Ride characteristics for me are fun laugh a minute
great on the rocky stuff but 2 psi too hard can make a huge difference
I am currently running Tubeless and 8 psi which is a little too hard for the offroad stuff and a little too soft for the road but for me a good compromise .

The back tyre is wearing quite fast about half done in 500 miles of mixed riding .

makes a great trail centre bike except for the braking bumps at Gisburns Hully Gully

Coastkids looks great but would be well over budget

Axle and 2 wheels plus hitch to seatpost was what I had in mind

my google skilz are bad and cant find cheap wheels with bearings in that would fit on a stub axle of some sort.

    Real men smoke pipes

Nicked my dads pipe when I was 9 and some baccy that was black as tar
which he used to rub before loading the pipe .
got the thing going and after a few puffs was sick as a dog for the rest of the weekend ( Yes Sat afternoon and all day sunday )
Never told Mum what caused it .

put me off all kinds of smoking for life .

b.a.nana – can you get onto your route from the forestry bit it runs adjacent to on the west side?

You can but its cheeky stuff with a massive stile to climb over
the path intersects the bridleway through the woods and there has been lots of wood extraction going on there of late

Was a bit miffed last sat as took the Fatty up there and wanted to see how it coped across Red Bog
onlt to find a load of slabs .
however the Fatty rolled over ths slabs very smoothly with 7 psi in the tyres .

col de Cringles will be manic with the 90 degree left hand corner at the bottom .

All house space is already booked by friends and relatives and probably the lawn for a couple of tents also .

How much force do you think is generated when you are stomping up a climb using said pedals

Hanging a bike up by the pedal will be minute in comparison

    OK ref this

    ne you DON’T need any more than 1 x 10 on a Fatty EVER…
Don’t waste your money on double fronts.

I can confirm what John says I am getting up stuff in`t dales that i needed Granny for on the Mega and surprising myself lots.

You could do with a granny when up Swaledale as the ups are steep and hard work .

see if you can find an owner in your area and have a spin on it
your welcome if yorkshire is home to have a go on mine .

Had it for 5 months now and its the only bike I have rode since .
great on the Canal towpath rode a few Dales routes and limestone decents are fun also had a couple of visits to Gisburn Forest and it was a hoot there though Hully Gully`s braking bumps were not fun .

Not keen on Tarmac with it but get it on the rough stuff and it comes alive

Taking mine for a week in the Pyrenees in sept and intend to drag it up the Tourmalet one day

not many woods or engineered are good in a bathroom
and laminates i would avoid in wet environs
amtico is better than karndean in the long lasting stakes but more expensive
try with your fingernail to lift the wear surface from the karndean it just pulls off
    like paper
