They will be a great way to get interested in brewing your own
but beware it gets a bit addictive like biking.

my shed brewery started last xmas when my daughter pought me a kit for youngs bitter ( it was a terrible brew ) which started me on the road to building a three vessel setup

yes is certainly possible to brew and transport the wort for fermenting
my bro did an old Peculiar in my shed and fermented in his workshop 210 miles away .

A money saving tip is see if you can get into a group buy of the base malts with other brewers in your area for instance Fawcetts Marris Otter 25 kg bag from homebrew shop £28 plus shipping £18 direct from fawcetts but min order is 10 bags for collection

The lens is also the optic and could now be letting in water so needs replacing asap
not sure if hope will send you one. they would not supply me with cables to repair their lights when I upgrade them .

be careful if you try to unscrew the front bezel as it sticks and can tear off the leds domes if the lens rotates .

my method is to spray with wd40 on the lens. and let soak for a while. then warm it with a heat gun
firmly hold the lens still and unscrew the bezel
some marigolds help here to grip the bezel .

Have taken up trillions of old tile over the years

tool of choice is a ladies garden spade sharpened up with the angry grinder
or you can hire an electric stripper but they are not too good on very worn tiles.

we always try and get them up if possible. because screeding over them can cause issues later depending on what flooring you install on top

Dom no the aspherics I use wont fit but I do have some that might
if I get the time to have another mess with it .

Zippy will get something sorted re a kit of bits for you to have a go with but wont be until next week now as rather pushed at the mo

Yes I have a few Lflex`s in stock and can do a few heatsinks .
can point you at the switch or how to reuse the stock switch when I have worked it out .
so a diy kit is doable

    trout

It was just an experiment to see if it could be done easily .

not sure its worth the effort and money though
taskled Lflex driver $25 plus shipping form US
switch about £5 though I have an idea to use the stock switch which would save that.

and small heatsink for the driver which is important needs making
I can turn them in the lathe so say £1 each
    some thermal past from maplins

then the time to do it and return postage

probably be cheaper to get another one and double your lumens

Yes on full it will be drawing 3 amps and a hound from the battery
all levels can be user chosen in the driver menus .

it also may be that the stock battery cannot deliver the 3 amps with out tripping its protection circuit I was using a Smudge pack for this one .

Yes Zippy have taken out the old driver and installed the Lflex
plus switch so still got low medium and hi or can even have 5 levels for the undecided  as well as strobe mode

I would only use the full power when traveling fast as it does heat up damn quick on the desk but does have a thermal cutout at 60c now

    trout

OK its working at 3 amps now

to answer Doms question the heat path is ok though not a lot of metal to transfer it to the case
there was a small blob of paste under the leds

    which got bigger when reassembled
made a small heatsink for the Lflex and made it a bit too thick

    Sorry for the crap photo
space was tight but got it all fitted
and programmed up ready for the darkness .

Nice one.. although it does seem a bit like an ad for the Spidereyes!

Not meant to be it was the first one to hand when I did the shots

should be an easy mod to slot in a Taskled Lflex to get the 3 amps into the leds.

Three pot brewer here and love tinkering with stuff
that homebrew kit above is not for me too automated

considering now I have built the equipment for around £250 and to do a 40 pint all grain brew costs me about £12 I could do 3293 pints of nice ale for the price of the picobrew gadget.

a brewday can be a bit of a time eater but with a bit of planning it is possible to do other stuff at the same time .

one way to shorten the brewday is to overnight mash then sparge and boil the following morning .

but I needed one and fitted the Truvativ 2.2
I dont use it often but it is there for when it is needed

you can ride a fat bike anywhere you can ride a thin bike but
you may not be able to ride a thin bike on all the terrain a fatbike can go .

Just had a closer look at the one I got and first thing is it certainly is not waterproof because I can blow through it from the lens end
so what is likely to happen when it rains is the light may be warm and the rain will cool it causing it to suck in water
I expect this to cause some failures as corrosion start to happen on the driver board over the winter.
