what are you allowed to have as extra lights when on dip

as see lots of cars with 4 lights on but not on main beam .

those projector lights are the work of the devil when they are coming towards you even in daylight

its dipped beam that is most useless on my van

Update on my ebay motor selling experience .

I guess the first non showing and paying bidder did me a favor as when I relisted the van a week later it just sold yesterday for £290 more than the first auction and a very pleasant bloke came and collected it with a big wedge of beer tokens

so for me yes it was worth the hassle and £1130 more than the trade in offer

Well my ongoing experiences have been a bit of a pain  but am persevering at the moment .

My 14 year old T5   there is a thread on here asking advise .

Dealer offered 2 grand  so put it on evilbay and sold it for £2856  but then was messed about by the winning bidder  so it ended up as a non paying job and after waiting the 5 days is now back as a relisted sale . so fingers crossed this time will be successful

yes there are lots of idiots who cant read an add  and ask stupid questions

Mrs T has popped a few in the freezer for future research  they do make for a quick curry and pop a bit more meat in for a very tasty hot curry .

“Anecdotally we believe my shimano Eco is more powerful than the bosch, but I use more battery quicker than them.”

That ties in with my experience last week in the cairngorms

my Trek powerfly9 bosch  drive  2 years old  versus Scott Shimano drive . both of us about the same 95 kg  we did a ride of 40 miles  with 3600 ft of climbing  and the last 20 miles with a brutal headwind   we both used eco for all the ride and he ran out in the last 200 mtrs  where as I still had 1 bar left  but it also said 0 miles range  so I guess mine was not far from depletion

cant comment on greenflag  but can on AA as they have been great on three breakdowns over the years for me . Knackered Turbo  repaired in 3 days  , Wheel bearing repaired in 3 days  and broken drive shaft  organised repair and hire car to get us home then flew me out to collect van after repair .

pay for the spares and labour  if you need it it is worth it

totally sitzpinkler here  2 reasons  first as the only male in Chez Trout I cannot blame anyone else for over spray .

2nd reason  as a floor layer of over 40 years  I don`t care how accurate you sharpshooters think you are just get your head behind the bog and smell the piss and I must have cuddled 1000s of toilets and most of em stink round the back  .

one on thursday had rotted the floorboards so new ones in for a week and  already piss stained before we fitted the flooring .

Ha ha  I am amazed how a weeks rain and the grass which looked dead has sprung back to life .

I dont realy have the time and the money to do repairs so happy to reflect a reasonable price

    for sale as is .

the gearbox thing I have been driving like this for 5 years or more in fact 5 to 6 in any car gets a little declutch from habit now .

    thanks for the advise

now a whats it worth question

    05 T32 kombi  5 seats  168000 miles  genuine , 2.5 , 174 ps , 6 speed manual .

    Aircon working regassed last year

at the moment no Mot but hoping it will pass this week .

small issue on the gearbox  shifting from 5 to 6  needs a small double de clutch as its a little sticky .

rear suspension bushes are a bit rattly.

    it does scrub up nicely

passenger side electric window packed up and converted to manual winder  I do have a new motor for it but the issue is elsewhere

it ready for a service too

Oh and this little whoopsie from this summer

ok I guess some comments on here are in my and Rich’s direction

    history lesson

first couple of Ardrocks pooled a lot of marshals from Singletraction  the trail builders for Stainburn .and Ardrock donated £50 for each marshal we supplied to the coffers of Singletraction

marshals also got. free camping , free evening meal , free beer  and a tshirt .

I have tshirts from all but the first and now last ardrock .

then it got bigger and bigger .

3rd 4th 5th ardrock and the Ardmoors 2 now. we got £50 expenses  per day packed lunch , water bottle and tshirt

This Ardrock  it was £50 per day  free camping  packed lunch  and water bottle OR £5 for a Tshirt

Now dont get me wrong I love marshalling at the Ard rock/moors but it was the having to pay a fiver for a T that hacked us off .

a little goodie bag of stuff for all marshals would not cost much ( water bottle , Tshirt , some odds and sods from other sponsers ) not a bank breaker is it

very petty stingyness and imho they have devalued their Marshals this year

for this year I took off a day from work (fri) my choice.

2 hour drive there on thursday night   10 hours on stage 2 friday  and 10 hours on stage 3 sat and sunday then we strippped the stage of flags and tape  and then I went to stage 7 where my mate was marshalling to help him strip his part of the stage down so he could get away a bit earlier    we got to the event village at 19.00  We both arrived home at 21.00 sunday night

now tell me that is not worth a goodie bag of stuff

    trout

Having now slept  no more Ardrock marshalling for me .

    reasons

Last year I could only do sunday  so marshalled all day. great crack and home ( 1.5 hours drive )

rewards £50 plus waterbottle and free Tshirt

this weekend  did friday to sunday

again great crack and views ,weather

10 hours each day on the hills

    rewards

    £50 per day

water bottle (free) OR Tshirt for £5  Took the water bottle

I am out ( sorry Ardrock but you just broke this camels back with stingyness ) and so is my mate who was on 7 he had 11 hours on the hill sunday

had a great weekend marshaling at the bottom of three for a change this year .

so explain to me please the nearly 400 punctures I saw at the bottom on sat

    and about 200 today .

    1/ its terribly rocky

2/ folks are using shit tyres

    3 running em too soft

    4 sommat else

what a set of bankers the Maxxis tyre support was why werent they where they were needed

not saying owt yet why. but might not be a marshall there again

the best carpet underlay for sound insulation caused by footfall  is one by duralay  called system 10  made from recycled car tyres  , not cheap but is good .

oh and then chuck a thick carpet on top  for max benefit

yes you are correct  but the stuff in the picture is old linoleum  and as most of that has been removed  allready then no point in testing .

not generic lino / vynil. which can contain asbestos

yes by all means test the fibrous stuff remaining

    trout
    Free Member

The lino will not have asbestos in it  and the glue looks like lignum paste which is the old lino glue .

sorry I cannot comment on the felty looking stuff   but it was normal to use a paper felt in the very old days  as underlayment for lino .

the black glue should dissolve with water

and the backing of the lino is hessian .

and apart from lots of nails , bottletops, tin cans , and random chunks of metal

    this is the interesting haul

great fun  so hoping little Fred enjoys it

    from the Bradford Times

    M1 : Speeding Cameras*

Just to let you know they are switching the speeding cameras on 24/7 today and if you go above 70mph when going down the M1 you will definitely get a speeding ticket, that’s the full stretch of the M1 all day every day and even when the signs of speed limits are not on.

    Good luck all!
