I know what you mean about mountain biking making you hungry. You have to watch out for that, but you can stuff yourself with not fattening foods post ride.

Mtbing is more fun than say running or road riding so at least the excersice is fun meaning your more likely to keep it up.

In the long run, so long as your riding and having fun and not eating shite you will get fitter and lose weight.

Get a heart rate monitor – figure out your max then ride at your fat burning rate. Its not as high as you might imagine, a good gym insturctor will tell you, or google it.

Then just keep riding. However, your body will adjust – so be careful what you eat and change the intensity after a while.

I would get the blank shotgun cartridges – this type of thread crops up regularly on the motorbike forums I read. Other than being a member of the Mafia, its the best way to keep stuff safe.

Alternativly you could move to a safe area.

Pump up the tyres with water – that will make it harder. Like a treadmill on an incline.

So what we are experienceing is a good level of service when the there is a close customer / supplier relaitonship – one that only exists in small environments that allow trust and responsibility to grow. Where the supplier is happy to bend the rules with the safety of common sence.

This would not happen in a big city with high postie turnover and unfriendly neibourhoods. Or a big corporate rule book harshly enforced.

What you do needs to bear in mind what your circumstances are now and will be later. Pay as much as you can afford to pay. Flexibility is best when the economy is in chaos. Is your mortgage small enough to treat like a bet and allow you to hope the rate will go up ?

Well, I went to school with myself. I was rich once and I am famous on account of a trail being named after me recently.

The trail goes downhill fast – there may be some hidden meaning there.

Its not the fact that they cant identify sheep or leave their local area, its the lack of desire to question life or their surroundings and try for a better life. This apathy and lack of drive has serious knockon effects for the rest of society, not just their offspring.

Right, Im off to put large doses of the pill in the local reserviour to stop people breeding. Rich people who use bottled water will be OK. Most rich people are clever and have fancy surnames thereby showing good breeding. Also fat people only drink diet coke, so my cunning plan will no doubt work.

Have you tired putting one of those sticky strips on your nose. I use them when doing motorcyle enduros – partly cos they are harder physically than mountain biking and because the goggle can squish your nose a little. But they really do open up your nose. Its like having an extra hole in your nose.

They are cheap – the sintered ones work fine – if they fall apart send them back and get a full refund.

I fail to see why anyone buys pads elsewhere.

But whats wrong with cutting out the bad bits of society – we do that now with fundamental preachers, illegal immagrants, sex offenders. Doctors remove tumors, cancer, provide screening for health / non healthy babies. You can pay for DNA tests on your unborn, you can pay for donated eggs and sperm with a history of breeding. Only a few years ago America stopped sterilising mental health inmates.

Cure the cureable, remove the uncurable. When you cant patch your innertube anymore you bin it. Some even go as far as to go tubeless ! Lets adopt that approach in society.

I vote for a culling of the stupid and obese. Or at least the sterilisation of them.

If the trail fails to be exciting you have three choices:

1) ride it faster
2) ride it in the dark
3) find a cheeky trail to ride.

Get on your knees and look at the actual gears from behind. If the jockey wheels are in line with the cassette, how will they cause it to skip. They are only there to take up chain slack.

If they are not in line and there is no side to side tolerance then this is a mech / hanger / indexing / cable issue. Jockey wheels are not the issue.

We dont actually have freedom of speech anyway. Try denying the holocaust in Austria or god in the Vatican for example.

Dont bother with a multi tool, just make sure your riding buddies have one. You not only get to save weight and money, but they will tend to do the repair on your bike for you rather than risk you damaging their tool.

Worked for my riding buddy for years till I realised. I even used to change his bloody inners when he got a flat as he never owned a pump !
