Noticed a lot of people mentioning calories and calories in vs out.

If you are involved in IF,Keto or low carb then there’s a very high chance your body is producing glucose through Gluconeogenesis. In terms of energy efficient it’s extremely inefficient as it takes a lot of energy to produce glucose from a non glucose source. These kinds of diets have a metabolic advantage

so i now own a roland s1, roland t8 (got yesterday!) which i sold the volca beats for and an NTS 1.

The t8 and s1 are amazing devices. The sounds you can make from the s1 are incredible. Got the t8 as it paired better with the s1 and had the all important acid 303 sound. I love messing about with it. Got them all 2nd hand off ebay

I also realised why it works after watching some youtube videos. It opens up the bike so you can lean it more. If you don’t open up your knees you’re not able to lean the bike over as much

I got Guide RE’s when I bought an On One Scandal, could never get them working to a point I was happy with them – replaced with an ancient set of Formula R1’s off my old HT.

I have guide RE’s on my turbo levo. They are awful! my deore’s are far better on my hardtail. I just prefer shimano brakes

as anyone sticking hydraulic brakes on these kids bikes found it too much power?

Not really. TI stuck on some slx brakes on my kids bike

they are amazinly powerful. What it means is his little hands are able to modulate easier. Definately noticed a hige difference between this bike and his old isla v braked bike (obviously). The confidence he has on this bike is amazing

Excellent @a11y. I got the refund for both cars in the end through aliexpress. Not going to make that mistake again. Like i said in th epost i bought the HBX 16889 pro and a MJX MEW4 .Out of the both i’d day the MJX beats the HBX. It’s built a lot better, thicker metal axles, nicer layout. The pros of the hbx is the controller is better. It has full speed control so you can turn it right down for indoors. THe MJX has a 70 and 100% setting.

Really chuffed. My boys have been sending them in the air, crashing into kerbs and they’ve held up well.

How did you get on @a11y

got to be honest the MJX MEW4 is much better than the HBX 16889 pro i got for my other son. I got the hbx as it had full speed control on the controller but then MJX is really well built. It’s been crashed into kerbs and jumps, wheelied, crashed everywhere and it’s still running fine. Battery is a decent size and lots of spares available if needed.

I’m looking at the cheap/slower MJX and HBX offroad trucks/buggies on https://www.seriousrc.co.uk/ but TBH don’t know the good from the bad. Now I realise how non-cyclists must feel when navigating the cheaper end of the bike market.

the v2 has got uprated/thicker steering parts and hub carriers.
not sure on the others but the mjx does seem better than a lot of models onn modelsport from the point of view of metal parts/chassis,oil filled shocks etc

For anyone intersted. There is an official UK reseller of the MJX

    https://www.seriousrc.co.uk/

i’ve spoken to them and they stock every spare part for it and offer free 30 day returns policy

One more and then I’ll stop. Cong Burn tape 10, by Howes. Slow, weird, chugging techno that gradually undergoes a complete dissolution into almost nothing. One of my favourite releases of the last 5 years

This is great. THanks for the share. Pretty cheap considering

yes yes! its a stormer. . Was thinking today its probably my favourite electornic album

I also love this one. W

Would love to hear these tracks on some massive system with loads of bass

Thread title made me hear this, then spend 10 mins trying to remember the name of it

This is great. Haven’t heard this before

The review shows the cheaper model that’s in the multi-listing, I wonder which one they actually ordered?

Yup! mine arrived today and it’s definately not the mjx hyper go. Its the really small one. Too good to be true (sorry folks for getting excited and posting links)
Can’t request a refund until another 5 days for some reason

looking purely at specs the mjx is better specced: metal chassis, brushless, lipo batteries, waterproof receriver cases, metal axles, spare tyres, extra springs and oil filled shocks. THe MJX is 1 /14 whereas the buggy is 1/18th

I guess the worry i have is it being too fast. I went with the s2 battery which isn’t as fast. the s3 lipo is 45mph!

the controller does have a speed restricter to 70 or 75% but think i might have to sellotape a stopper for my boys (6 and will be 9)

Seems to be a lot of talk around a make from china called MJX hyper go: http://www.mjxrc.net/goods/hyper-go.html

I just ordered 2 from aliexpress for £52 each (for my 2 boys)

comes with metal axles, chassis, oil filled shocks, spare tyres and LED lights. Total bargain

Also we are walking science experiments. People can try these things. Try low carb, try reducing calories, favour protein, Exercise. See what the results are. Take into account why those results have occured. Has your body adapted to things. Are you eating by habit. Change your lifestyle

i know i try out strict low carb for 2 weeks and it worked wonders (‘m very much not now). The everlasting change for me was to favour protein for breakfast. This kept things very stable. I also recommended some friends try it out for a few weeks and it also worked very well for them. (1 friend lost 10kg!).It changed their relationship with food and honed in on certain aspects. For many ppl low carb isn’t a long term thing. It’s to shift how you eat or make you focus on what was bad and how your body reacts to a different types of foods.

This is not a useful way to think and the calorie is really an outdated method of determining how a food is going to effect you. A calorie worth of fat or protein is now believed to effect your hunger level/satiety very differently than a calorie worth of sugar or carbs and the nutrients in the food will effect things too. So a higher fat or protein diet could potentially be a better way for someone to get themselves healthier by losing weight but it is very individual so what works for one might not work for another.

Agree 100% here. I’ve mentioned this loads of times on this site before. A calorie is a measurement of the ‘reaction’ of burning food in a bomb calorimeter. Its the energy required to heat water by 1 degree

“the actual amount of energy produced by food if oxidized (burned) completely can be measured”

You body doesn’t work the same way. Essentially most of the processes are to do with hormones and feedback systems. THings like insulin, grehlin (hunger) leptin (appetite regulation).

The reason why favouring low carb or low glycemic foods is they have a metabolic advantage (there are other reasons). Often people quote oh it’s impossible it breaks the laws of thermodynamics (of which there are 4). Often people quote the first law. – conservations of energy

    6 Reasons Why a Calorie Is Not a Calorie:https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/6-reasons-why-a-calorie-is-not-a-calorie

    And more technical papers:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC543577/

    https://europepmc.org/article/MED/15282028

“In this review, we show that there is no such violation of thermodynamic laws. Energy utilization of different diets depends on the chemical pathway taken and a metabolic analysis of the efficiency of different pathways reveals large differences. Likewise, thermogenesis produced by diets of different macronutrient composition varies widely. We present a plausible mechanism that depends on the inefficiency of metabolic cycles and, in particular, protein turnover. A low carbohydrate diet makes demands on protein turnover for gluconeogenesis”

Glucogenesis is a very expensive and from an energy POV inefficent

An energy system can never be 100% efficient and the same goes for how your body works and this is where the 2nd law of thermodynamics comes into place

its easier to overeat with carbs but a low carb diet is not a particularly healthy one

care to explain this one? Where the science to say low carb is not healthy?

you know low carb includes vegetables?
