Initially i used to train to HR and then I did a MAP test to determine my zones

    Screenshot-2024-10-08-at-09-37-38

This was a while ago now but this was the result

    Screenshot-2024-10-08-at-09-39-18

    which gave me these zones

    Zone 1 = <125 beats per minute.

    Zone 2 = 125-144 bpm

    Zone 3 = 144-165 bpm

    Zone 4 = 165-178 bpm

    Zone 5 = 178 + bpm

Once i’d done about 6 months of trainnig i redid the test and my zones had changed

    Level 1 = <140
    Level 2 = 140 – 158
    Level 3 = 158- 172
    Level 4 = 172 – 178
    Zone 5 = 178 +
essentially my zone 2 area was really really crap. i was only utilising 43% of energy from fat.

    >Selle SMP Extra

Yup. found the selle SMP saddles to be the most comfortable saddle i’ve ever had. I went to the distrbutor with 2 bikes and tried out a few of them. I settlted on the 209. It looks weird is very comfy

Mark beaumont used selle smp saddle to  cycle around the world

definately one of the hardest things to do. I gave it up for about 6 months 5 years ago. I really want to do it again but really struggling with my sweet tooth.

I gave up alcohol last october which wasn’t as hard as i thought. I had a nagging feeling for some months that i just wasn’t enjoying it anymore. Coupled with the fact i’m a coeliac and it was hard to get good gluten free beer where i am in wales

I\ve always been an all or nothing sort of person. I don’t do moderation very well.

    This looks good
    https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-1-1-1-1-for-families/

“Introducing 1.1.1.1 for Families — the easiest way to add a layer of protection to your home network and protect it from malware and adult content. 1.1.1.1 for Families leverages Cloudflare’s global network to ensure that it is fast and secure around the world. And it includes the same strong privacy guarantees that we committed to when we launched 1.1.1.1 two years ago. And, just like 1.1.1.1, we’re providing it for free and it’s for any home anywhere in the world.”

Out of interest why would you want/need a ceiling mounted wifi system?  Seems like getting power and or POE there would be a right PITA.

because the router + wifi coverage is a bit crap in the house. the wifi strength is poor. with this i only need 1 unit which will give better coverage and won’t need lots of mesh units. It’s an access point

I will be thinking about this in a year or so. I honestly think there needs to be more done here. Maybe kids have a different sim card or restricted network by default. I see so many kids with normal phones that have access to anything.

Things like miro can help or jira/azure dev ops if you have access to it

Or something like https://plane.so/ which has a free plan or can be self hosted (but obviosuly latter for experienced devs)

don’t forget the petrol! i’ve got a 2.0 petrol. Yes it’s gutless but i’ve had it for 14 years now (24 year old van)
Engine has been faultless and very easy to work on.

Had work done on the rust a few years ago. new wings etc. usual suspects sills, sliding door threshold. Look at ball joints, suspension, steering

the headlights are crap. Go for a loom upgrade

    I got a quote yesterday

    6.090 kW Total Solar Power
    14 x 435 Watt Panels
    4,178 kWh per year
4.3 kWh Total Battery Storage (foxess)

    11.2k

Think we use about 3.8kw – 4 / year. No electric car and gas cental heating. IN a new build property (3 years) with good insulation. New to all this so trying to get as much info as possible.

I had this exact thing last year for 4 months! I had it that bad I found it difficult to sleep. I actually went to A & E one morning at 4am whilst away with friends (btw i don’t drink or partake in any recreational drugs:) as it felt so disconcerting and thought i was going to keel over.
There was an extra heart beat but not only that it felt like that extra beat was moving my heart side ways.

They found nothing at A & E and I saw the GP a few times and they ran an ECG but found nothing. It disapprared after 4 months

To add i have prviate medical insurance with my employer. Even then i’ve found it difficult to get referred for things

they exist – go in any commercial kitchen and trays of dishes are washed in a few minutes.

Indeed. I worked in kitchens 30 odd years ago. Why can’t i buy one that is for household use using the smae formfactor?

I’d agree with molgrips. I’m a lead dev having worked a lot of companies and organisations : Ineos, gov.uk, honda, national trust, banks and airports etc. Currently building an app for a major organisation in the uk. I’d say it migth be easy to pick up some things here adn there but to make it production ready, inline with gdpr, mitigating security risks, deployment steps, automation, integration with services and QA. There’s a lot to it.

i hear ya! i’m exactly the same. Just love chocolate, biscuits and cake. I’ve got better but have been known to eat a whole bar of huge dairy milk or galazy bar

A couple of years ago i managed to go cold turkey from all of it. Once i got past 20 days it was much much easier. I keep telling myself i’ll do the same again as noticing more belly fat and tight jeans.

I did successfully give up alchohol. Haven’t drunk since last november. Not that i was drinking loads I just wanted to break the cycle of having a drink to de stress, have a good time etc

NIU is a very respectable brand IMO. I’ve had a few bits of theirs and it’s all well made, reliable, and battery packs seem true to quoted capacity values.

I have also heard good things about them. I heard on reddit that they supply other makes or that they have the same parent company

INIU products, what do you guys think?

I went down to 4.5 days when my kids were at nursery age. Has been amazing to spend time with them growing up. They are now art school and i get a few hours on my own pootling about.

If i could afford it i would go down to 4 days

    @joebristol
    interesting insights!

I have had a bit of a revelation lately to do with berms cornerning unlocked

I have had to unlearn the outside pedal down technique for all corners. THe biggest revaltionn for me was pointing the knee outwards which allows the hips to move and more importantly gives the bike room to move around you
