For seven Staines have a look at Gorsebank Cabins, they have timber tents, and two really nice Bothies.

I ran my BFE(s) for all around riding including the Lakes and Northern Trail centres I’m 95kg with kit so at the higher end of the weight scale.

    My experiences with the following:-

Coil Pikes, I found they really suited the bike.

Air Pikes, ditto, liked the travel adjust and the bike climbs really well in 120-125 range, flew down in 140 mm setting.Felt really solid, 20mm maxle nice too.

Fox Van R 160mm simple, found climbing a struggle but again great on downhills.

Sektor Solo Air 150mm,I know these are well regarded on here but for me I found them a bit dsiappointing after the Pikes as I felt they had to much flex although climbing was ok.

Marz 55 RC3Ti 160mm these were a bit of a stop gap, way OT for the bike in my opinion, came off my Orange Blood and were fun on a couple of trips to Ae and Dalbeattie but the bike/I could not climb at all with these fitted.

Marz 55R I think these are a bloomin’ bargain, 160 mm travel coil ,they are v heavy but I bought a set from ebay, model year 2012, for £149 , the bike pedals well with these, it seems to struggle less with climbing but descends nearly as well as the RC3Ti version.

Maybe have a look at the new X Fusion 160 travel with DLA, gets good reviews(tapered steerer though).

Stem length also worth thinking about I settled on 60mm after trying 40, 50 and 70mm with various fork combos!

    Good luck

Merlin Malt makes an excellent and lightweight basis for a build. Bought a whole bike off here last year for my wife which has been fantastic.

Deore 596 are great for the money. Run with 200/180 mm rotors.

    From the FB page….
The great Alpine colour debate rumbles on! After considerable discussion with potential customers by e-mail and on the STW forum, here’s what I hope is a way forward. The frames will come in 2 colours – white and 1 other colour from the choices specified below. For people who don’t like either of those colours, there will be an optional extra to have the RAL colour of choice (within reason) for an additional surcharge (between £40-£50 TBD). Custom paint jobs will be done by Superbike Dan at PWS Finishing.

    Mike,
Got it you have to be a “Friend” to see the timeline on the site which contains the post details. Love the YS7463 by the way.

Could be cable tension on rear mech, try a tweak to the barrel adjust on mech end of cable if you have one? Turning the pedals you should be able to dial out the slipping chain.

Sag setting on rear shock seems to be the culprit, checked and set for my weight and now shifting perfectly. thanks for your help.

I did think that , the outer finishes athe bottom bracket, it’s inner under the bb and up to the mech.

Had two in my workshop in the space of a week. Both rode really well. The bb30 has had some probs as stated elsewhere but everything else ok. One word of caution the ritchey wheels are a pain to get spares for in my experience, ended up building up brand new rims following some damage to rear on one of the bikes.boardman branded stuff appears to work well. Many around my area bought through cycle to work schemes and appear to get limited use.

We bought a merlin malt 2 secondhand a year ago and it’s been great. Light and easy to ride with decent spec. Merlin still selling these new for a very competitive price.

Freeborn have just sold the first batch and I understand the next batch will be coming in May.
I have a pair on order with 18 bikes with similar delivery time.
There are two options one with travel adjust and one fixed travel but internally adjustable.

Gorsebank 400m from Dalbeatie Trail head, choice of small timber tents, larger pods both with good secure parking and showers and 2 new Bothy’s which sleep 10 and 6 people to a good std.
