Bandit great and pedals (Edinburgh) have a medium at under a £1k. They have also usually got deals on x fusion forks too.i had mine at 140mm but I know a couple of riders who have used 150 with no issues.

None at freeborn Michael confirmed this today. Surf sales not had any for a few months. Medium is quite short large was perfect, new 650b out in dealers in early 2014 I think.

Think top tube on latest Soul is slightly longer than BFE, c.5mm , according to Paul at Cotic anyway. I’ve had Large Soul (Mk2) as well as Medium BFE’s and now a Mk3 Soul, at 6ft with 33 ” inside leg I’d say medium is good for me. Large felt very long to me with a 50, 70mm stems.
Welcome to throw a leg over mine if you are nearby(Lancs)

Have a look at a Cane Creek 40.
    Good value and very reliable.

They do an internal bearing btm and a integrated top bearing (type i think you mean)

Hope headset guide on their website is very good.

    Just my tuppence……

Built my lad a DMR Trailstar 2 years ago as a do anything bike.(£300 all in).

First it was single speed, but this was too much so put a double and bash on with gears, so no issues peddling, brakes are simple discs and a short travel 100mm air fork. Decent bars and stem and thats about it.
He rides trail centres, BMX park, canal paths everything in fact and I think its a brilliant little bike for a youngster as it is bombproof really. I can add a ISCG chain device, fit bigger brakes or a longer fork (Pike) but I’m not sure how a downhill bike would improve his enjoyment unless he decides he really is going to do proper downhills or uplift days?

I’d of thought bike weight might be an issue on a full suss,a customer brought in a stinky 24 last week that he had bought for his 10 year old. It weighed 36lbs and he was struggling to get it moving.

My lad weighed about 40 kg, when they are this light can they really get a long travel fork/shock to work properly on a downhill bike?

BTR offer some great options but big money.

They emailed me and advised subscribers should get copies from 30th October so they are resending mine. Might be worth getting in touch as sounds like some are missing theirs.

Have a look at Tweeks cycles, they had a pair for <£125 last month, worth a look.

Sizing on soul is lightly different in certain sizes. Longer top tube on medium for example. Head tubes are different too, one is tapered, Soul, one is 44mm, BFE.
I think the Soul is a great buy based on time of year, plus they seem committed to 26″ size for the foreseeable future.
Keen to see the black grape colour on the BFE before hitting the buy button too.

Maybe pics you see are for Euro spec versions with brakes on opp sides to UK? Mine below is std with rear brake on LHS and cable routing on downtube.

    bandit cable run

My frame came with BB faced and dealer was quite pedantic that it should be done before fitting bb.

Make sure you put plenty of helitape on underside of downtube and around BB as cable rub has been quite vicious and paint seems quite thin. Wrap Driveside chainstay too to avoid loss of paint!

PS orange Peel is the only colour!

Firstly Thanks for your input so far all.

In response to Coatsey’s post I tried the allen key down the bore into the master cylinder, not sure what should happen but nothing appears to of moved/unstuck. From the bars end I disconnected the hose from the lever, I can push air through lever entering from hose end exiting from bleed hole on res. I can also push air from lever down the hose to caliper so not the hose?

    In response to Northwind
When I use syringe and suck no fluid comes out, blew air through the nipple and all flows freely. Is there some sort of return valve inside the bore where the bleed nipple screws into?

    Frustrating!

Thanks, I have had both pistons out of the caliper and they appear to move in and out ok?
    Really stuck with this one?
    Thanks

Northwind thanks. I will have a look at the lever tonight.

No fluid is pushed from lever end either, it just pulls straight to bars, like no pressure in system?

    Thanks
