About to fit fork to my new BFE Frame.
Choice is Pike Air U Turn 115-140mm travel or
    Fox 160 Van
I’d describe my riding as ragged but improving and typically Lakes and Northern Trail centres. The foxes are going on at present will I die…

New frame arrived, first impression is that it looks really well finished, feels very light. I like the anti corrosion paint inside the tubes. Paint/powdercoat just gleams. Very impressed.

Will have it built up by Wednesday and riding wednesday pm in the lakes pics later that day.

I understand you can also get a double specific middle ring, (36T) from Shimano, what is the part number on yours I can check this with mine to see if there are some differences?
Thanks for the tip on raising the mech up the seat tube.

I find mine most useful in ski lift queues and on chair lifts when I am forever being bashed by someone with poles, skis or the lift bar!

Went this am, red trails were icy but no real snow to speak of.
Tried the new freeride section with my lad, he loved it and has already bent my ear to get back there next week.

Remember a L200 is a pick up truck, tax and fuel not great and general driving a chore, I’ve used a friends and as an everyday car appeal wears thin pretty quickly.
Passat very disappointing to own with lots of electrical niggles on the 2 diesels I’ve had.
More recently I’ve had an S Max Diesel from new and done 80k miles in it in 18 months. THE best family and biking car for me no question.
40mpg, seats 7,handy when grandparents come to visit, 5 up and loads of boot space. 4 up we took 3 bikes and camping gear and did Glastonbury and the car revelled in it.Quickclear screen is a joy on a cold day and real world comforts, great visibility and toys pretty unbeatable for money.Car drives like a car, handles well and is pretty quick on b roads in the lakes & n wales- visibility helps.
Drove it too Zermatt last March and we did the journey almost non stop,14 hours, 4 up with skis and all luggage, averaged 48mpg and arrived fresh and ready to ski!
Rear trim in boot needs care but the rest of car is very tough and has survived lots of youngsters and all of their crap.
Budget wise I’d have thought a 1.8 or 2.0 diesel zetec should drop into your price range by now with realistic mileages.

I think you need to look for R53 who import to uk, on that website are quite a few “dealers. One of which Dipper from Gravity Sports in Scotland posts on here and is one.(not much mention on his website though).
Quite a lot of threads on the forks and rear shocks in the Nicolai area of the MTBR forum.
Look like an awesome piece of kit.

GW I see from some of your other postings that you have a reputation for helpful postings…..

To be more specific I ride solo 3-5 times per week 15-20 miles at a time. Close to home are many undiscovered tracks and jumps feature through our local woods. I’m usually out 1-2 hours.

When I have more time I visit trail centres, I ride at places like Gisburn and Llandegla, Grizedale and to date have covered mainly red routes in c. 2 hours.
Due to time constraints and family the most I’d anticipate riding is 3-4 hours in one go.
I have no plans to ride in the Alps or compete in a Megavalanche style event.I’m not interested in 90km marathons and all day or 24 hours in the saddle.
I’m fit but @ 6 foot and 105kg’s so on the larger side.Big heavy bikes don’t really appeal but <36 seems doable with a BR.

So I have criteria which include a fun bike with a certain wow appeal when I ride it. I’d like to ride a bike that has a great reputation and backup from the producer. I like to do my own maintenance so something that is relatively lo tech and bomb proof for simplicity appeals.

Finally I really “like ” the look of this style of bike… sorry if that offends.

I have a DMR Trailstar and Nicolai Helius CC at present and I love both bikes but need to be realistic and go down to one.

Thanks for everyone’s input so far. In my initial posting I was very keen to get opinions of the people that have owned the BR and what they liked or disliked about it.

Strange to come on this forum ask for help and get flamed by someone.

Does it have the moon roof? (Big glass sunroof) This can cause problems as you can’t use with many roof systems fiited.

The Thule roof system has also pulled the plastic gutter rails away from the roof so many fitters I’ve spoken to will not offer it as they have had issues with customers returning with damage.

So I have the Thule boot rack fitted to mine and its excellent. Can carry 3 bikes and costs <£100.

If you do look at a bootrack be aware that some of the Cooper (depends on pack) have the rear spoiler on the roof and that can also cause problems fitting a bootrack.

I’ve had my 05 model for 6 months and I love it.
