Fuel consumption figures tend to be optimistic in my experience real world c30mpg so running costs can be quite high. The SE is a relatively low spec version.

Jam Bo is this not a top only version? Don’t I need top and btm, as per my other posting? Somebody? NW I agree thats the issue I’ve got with the MRP and the Gamut versions I’ve got – the chainstay seems to foul on the device?

    Thanks Tony.
Is that not for bottom only? Don’t I need a top and btm for single ring on front?

Stif seem to have a large range of Fox clothing and good prices , their mail order has been good for me too.

North Lakes,Trough of Bowland and Gisburn my main areas of riding.
I want a fit and forget set up really so that I can concentrate on riding the thing. My weight means that I will not notice the odd pound or two extra of the coil and shock combo.

    It’s for an 2011 Orange Blood so 190 x 50mm is required, it is fitted with a 160mm Marzocchi 55 Coil RC3Ti.

My current bike is a hardtail so leaves me with very little knowledge about what’s available and no experience of how to set up a shock properly so I’d like something which is “user” friendly and reliable. But I would like to learn more as I go along.

I’m about 85kg’s so suggestions of spring rate would also help me?

    Thanks

All thanks as ever for taking the trouble to reply, very helpful.

I had looked at the Park options- possibly default for many I think.
The PRS3 needs to be bolted down to the base or to the workshop floor so may not be ideal for the van.

The Feedback range, particularly the pro sport elite, looks promising.<£200 on Rutland cycles site.

Kestrel has a built by the artisans in a shed look to it which suggests it will last but at £450 it is top dollar?

Kestrel look solid but how heavy/easy to move around are they in your experience?

PF Ditto I think that is a typo as the frame only is over £1700 on the Merlin site?

Also got a BFE in this size and they seem to have similar dimensions.

Keep looking at the Blood and wonder if I should take the plunge. Size wise at 6ft am I better on a 15 or 17 inch frame what do we think?

Fact implies knowledge not seen much evidence of that from your input to date 🙄

I’d agree with David ‘s remark about the height of bars, mine looked like yours when I first built it up, wheelied at will and worse still on anything like a slight incline so I quickly removed the spacers, dropping the stem and bars by 30mm. I think this has made a big difference to the front end. My BFE is running with a 140mm Pike and feels very planted on the front.I’m running a simple 1 x 9 with mine and soon changing to a 1 x 10 with the new Shimano Zee kit.

Looks a nice build well done with the BB.

Thanks for all replies, I had been looking at the Coleman dual fuel lanterns having tried various led’s and battery/wind up styles before. Anyone else used this type?

Production privee Shan looks good. North west mountain bikes at cheadle had one being built up for a customer last month . It was the limited edition yellow and blue version. Looks good with dh geometry. Price wise more than the cotics etc but about 100 euros less than the btr belter.

Cotic site states seat post of 31.6mm

I think etch prime makes the pc stick better to the surface. Try Fastline in Preston, I use them for frames and they are well priced and do a good job. Choice of PC c £35-40 dependent on colour and how busy /what other things they can do at same time.

Parcelforce charged me £12.50 on last frame on 48 hour delivery via my local Post office. With insurance an extra £5-6 up to £500.

Second Bregante’s comment on CC. The 2009 has the latest geometry and can be adjusted right up to 130mm travel on rear. Mine now sold, was built up with a 140 Pike an RP23 and Hope kit, awesome bike which pedalled really well. Build quality is superb and a 5 year warranty which is transferable should make this a good second hand buy.
