Thanks, Sandwood Bay is a big attraction. So, riding there and perhaps on to Cape Wrath would be good (if rideable).

Update – seller has been in contact. Some issue with fork has prevented the sale proceeding. But he has reassured me that the money will be reimbursed.
I have also asked moderators to close thread.
    Thanks

    Claims ti be from Inverness.

    Email address : ‘whyterthanwhite@tiscali.co.uk’

    Paypal name: Tim Lott

Email address that Paypal have is ‘mrtimlott@tiscali.co.uk’

There was someone from this forum with that user name last active approx 4 years ago.

Forks were for my son, for his birthday, and he had been keen to proceed. Pressure of time led to hasty action, i confess.

Is there no prospect of identifying individual through their electronic profile, not least their own Paypal account? What about recourse to the Law?

    It’s deception.

Thanks. I have written to complain, asking specifically whether it is a strict policy. If not, then i suspect you are rightand i would be interested in their response.

thanks for your replies. Helpful and somewhat reassuring that it is a sbstantial and common phenomenon.

GP – like many experience, if tests normal and not ‘ill’ then little to do.

just really frustrating . i don’t tolerate sitting around very well.

In my search, i note NZCol used some sort of herbal remedy. I’d be interested to know what that contained.

i use a 9 speed ultegra mech with 10 speed shifters – no problem. The mech itself is not what determines each ‘index’, it’s the shifters.

I have wondered the same thing. I have several bikes and out of sheer convenience use SPD-type pedals and cleats on all of them. I only have MTB-type shoes (Sidi dominators) and i use these on my road bike – -even in triathlons!

didn't they use 'Land of Hope and Glory' at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. That would be preferable to wrteched anthem we have at he mo

clubber – interesting, thanks. what hubs would you advise with open pros. I have wheelset of those with ultegra hubs but rims now concave and need replacing, hence my initial interest in the two wheelsets above.

I'd love to come along. Pencil me in. The Carew Arms is very nice – good food, and good service but 20+ mTBers may alarm them!!

So is it going to be Crowcombe? What time?

Had to go to near Abergavennny from Bristol for meeting this am; so cycled there. Beautiful sunrise, followed by more achingly beautiful scenery on the way. Just had meeting planning someone's long-term care in hospital and now wasting time before going home. Oh, and waiting for some helpful advice from STWers who know anything about Magura Durin forks, over on the other side!

Loving this thread. really helping to inspire me. Hope this is not too much of a highjack but i did the Transalp this summer and loved it. Great event, really well organised and some stunningly beautiful scenery. But have just come down to Earth with a bit of a bump and feel like i'm in the doldrums. Lack energy and drive – particularly around mountain biking. today on my commute to work was only thinking 'wouldn't it be nice to just cycle off somewhere….'

I guess i just need to try to organise some other trip to look forward to.

Anyone else found themselves at a low ebb after a great event/achievement/adventure?

Cycling thro' the middle of Melbourne a year or so ago on my way to work when a minibus passed me and the front-seat passenger leant out and roared at me (aimed at being amusing to his fellow passengers). A little later on the minibus had stopped at some lights up ahead. I 'crept' upon my bike and roared back at him. He jumped out of his skin (short memeory or what). Thankfuly he and his fellow passengers pissed themselves laughing and when they finally passed me after the lights they gave me a big 'thimbs up'. Brightened my day up

I'm going to try and make it (if i can rearrange some family commitment). Interesting looking ride done most bits of the ride but never as one ride nor in that direction. Will look forward to it.

Seems, as usual, that there is a great variation in the amount people eat. Clearly it depends on intensity of exercise. I was also keen that i made a rapid recovery. As i said i still felt pretty good at the end. Part of my concern is the fear of bonking – hence the tendency to make sure i keep food intake up.

I’d be very interested in this. Very impressed with the effort you’ve gone to Buzz! 16th should be ok with me (assuming Transalp hasn’t put me off mountain biking forever!).

Will you keep people informed via STW?

I’ve been a victim of Bristol bike theft.

I’ve wondered about a registration scheme with the local police service – photo, frame number, brief description. So that when or if bike is stolen there is a collection of evidence linking you with the bike and something for the police to work on. With a description and a frame number it might be easy for the police to stop and examine a suspect bike and exclude as necessary.

Also, as above. Get ebay to insist that frame numbers are explicitly recorded in any advert for bike or frame sale.

I know there have been initiatives where police go to peoples houses to offer advice about burglary prevention – perhaps something similar wrt garages/shed security. I know i have put in a considerable amount of new security – only time will tell if it is effective

Seriously tempted. I am reasonably fit and i am training for Transalp in July. Did Mayhem as a team last year and tended to do 54- 55 min laps. Team finished about 40th iirc.

Only issue is checking with family commitments.

you can email me on peter(dot)wood(at)awp.nhs.uk

No problem with previous box. Also, tends to happen at around 1000hrs, (though at other times too)
