…you’re no longer allowed to like… mountain biking… because… gravel bikes! #BiteMe
treyster1Free MemberPays your money and takes your choice. Fortunately the market is over saturated with Oakley’s so can always find them reduced or on sale you only pay too dollar for the new lines. Many of the premium lines can be found for around, and below, £100 literally cheaper than eBay!
treyster1Free MemberLoved watching rampage. Puts the Extreme! Back into extreme sports. Big drops but oh so many tyre and wheel blow outs stopping full runs?
treyster1Free MemberTry in store and get them cheaper online. There’s a great Oakley dealer in Norwich 10 80 who have real world prices across all Oakley’s range
treyster1Free MemberJawbreakers are great. The only downside is a design flaw. The metal clip that attachs the nose piece to the top of the frame can corrode. It’s made from a lightweight coated metal. If the paint gets scratched then the clip will start to corrode. Oakley don’t offer or even sell replacements so if your frame is out of warranty and the clip fails, you’ll have to ditch ‘em. I’ve recently tried to get a replacement from a flagship Oakley store in Covent Garden, London, and they suggested eBay. Avoid jawbreakers if you sweat a lot! 😀
treyster1Free MemberI was going to say Sigma. Glad somebody got there before me. Interesting to note that the legitimate companies, getting dragged into this, are established in the Surrey cycling scene and are only 5 miles apart. The scammers seem to have a finger on the pulse of that local scene?
treyster1Free MemberI just had my Ocho serviced. The LBS sent it back to CSC. 5 day turnaround, £79.99 and a few quid for the lockout kit of parts. Great service. The problem I have is that the remote lockout won’t engage. It’s a Fox remote lever, which is attached within the top of the Lefty, by a 1mm hex bolt and a tiny washer. The cable keeps slipping out from under the washer. I’ve tried to lock it down, rounding out the hex bolt! CSC have replaced the bolt but the cable keeps slipping. Has anybody else as this? Any advice would be gratefully received
treyster1Free MemberGreat to see Ibis going XC and also interesting to hear about the localised production. You can bet your bottom dollar, or quid, that if this takes off other US manufacturers may choose to produce selected models back in the motherland. High end limited run specials? Isn’t the enabler to this the heated mould, or have I missed something?
treyster1Free MemberHi, Following up, I was nearly scammed on Instagram by an account that linked back to Walton Tech. The company cloned another users account and then re-directed me to sign up to Weekly-Otter which is a, get this, subscription video service free for 7 days and then £49.99 thereafter. Immediately contacted the bank and reported the page to Instragram. Google searches show a legitimate web development business. Which I can safely say they are not.
treyster1Free Member@endoverend Thanks for the update. It would be great to have an electronic lockout. A simple flick on and off, with settings to lock front/rear independently. Cannondale used to have an ELO set up. I wonder what happened to that? On a side note, I haven’t been aware of Suntour kit. Anybody else have a view on them performance, quality or price vs Fox or Rockshox
treyster1Free MemberBMC are a great brand my point was that they haven’t called out Tom’s bike for the specific reason it may be a contractural either with Ineos or Pinarello. BMC have posted pics of all of their other Olympic bikes… but not the one that won Gold which feels strange. They used to be imported into, the UK, by Evans Cycles and we can see why that ended. My LBS can get hold off them. I’d love the frame only option but looks to be a supply shortage across Europe?
treyster1Free MemberGreat race and disappointing for MVDP, Cink and the other contenders. Had my money on Tom. Also great to note this is more about the rider than the bike. I’m sure it’s an Ineos sponsorship thing but BMC are not shouting about his Fourstroke win. It also looks like he rode without a remote LO for his fork and shock. He’s super light so could probably get away with full sus’, fully open for 7 laps!
treyster1Free MemberI have a Lefty Ocho on my Scalpel. 350miles mainly on road and the seals blew. Replaced under warranty. I paid £87.50 service charge, to Sigma Sports in Kingston.£50 for handling the warranty, as I didn’t buy the bike from them and £37.50 labour… to box the fork and send it to Cannondale.
Reassembled the fork onto my bike only to find the lockout lever mech is aligned to the cable port. Sigma have washed their hands of the issue.
So LBS isn’t great but ultimately the Ocho is as fragile as bambi’s legs and the service infrastructure isn’t great so I’d avoid getting one. NB I had a lefty PBR 90 carbon on my hard tail. Amazing fork never gave me any problems.
treyster1Free MemberFor the oldskool soldiers amongst us… it has to be this Klein
treyster1Free MemberMy patience and goodwill for Evans has expired. They’ve had my bike in their workshop for over 10 weeks this year, a combination of poor repairs and ‘waiting for parts’. I’ve shopped with ‘em for 20 years and this will be the last. They’ve been brilliant in the past, getting me out of a pinch on a few occasions. This year though, service and communication is beyond a joke.
treyster1Free MemberApple offer a two year warranty for the new phone and then a limited warranty of 6 months for any replacement – To stop people abusing the system. This seems to be regardless of who your carrier is as they can trace ownership through your iTunes account.
I’ve had three phones replaced for brand new phones over the last couple of years. Each phone was diagnosed with a manufacturing fault: Pixel display, headphone jack and power management.
Not a great advert for the quality of the hardware but Apple’s service IS second to none. I’ve used the Genius booking system and I’ve also walked my phone into the Apple store and I’ve been bumped up the queue system. I had a flight to catch so they went above and beyond to help me.
On each occasion I was checked into a triage, then 10-15 minutes prepping the phone and paperwork with the Genius staffer and then walked out with the new phone. One takeaway is always backup to iCloud!
