Having ridden there a few times & then at Antur for the first time recently I must saw Antur seemed waaay more chilled out – with way less ego.

It really depends who is there on the day, I have seen it both ways at Antur

Do you think there is going to be Puddles and Mud on the trails tomorrow in the Peak District, or will it still be Okay because it’s been dry for so long ?

Plenty around Grizedale, also get some at other Trail Centres, but elsewhere they are hardly ever seen.

Buying Price and maintenance puts me off getting one.

£5K plus. I can afford it but don’t want the endless maintenance bills.

Too heavy, if you have to lift over Gates or hike a bike your in more trouble than normal.

Much more maintenance-intense than a normal MTB, and they’re bad enough.

You also can’t wash an EMTB with the hosepipe it will damage the motor and electronics. Cleaning is even more a “pain in the arse”, bucket and sponge job every time.

You can’t take an E-Bike abroad on the plane.

I think you get a lot muddier on an Ebike than a normal MTB if your riding in bad conditions. When I demo’d an Ebike I got covered in substantially more mud than usual. Though I am not sure if its due to the amount of power they put down, or if it was just the wider tyres that it had and lack of mud guards!

Apart from all these drawbacks, they seem like great fun, if only for the speed they go uphill and on the flat! Downhill there is hardly any difference though

Good to see that someone has cleared it, I’ve only done Harter Fell / Nan Bield once and I was wondering if parts of the Harter Fell DH were unrideable, if only due to some of the extremely tight switchbacks I remember seeing. Obviously it was very stop-start for me, ride some then carry some. But then I’ve only done it once, there could have been easier lines that I didn’t see.

I’d say Cannock as it’s a shorter Drive for you.

The Peaks is a shorter drive for me so I would do The Peaks more often.

As for which is the better of the two, Cannock has less Gates and shorter Climbs, so it “flows” a lot better than Bridleway. There are no Dog Walkers, Hikers, Horses. That alone is great.

The Peaks has better scenery, and has some better descents, but some of the climbs are very long and can take ages, depends which track your doing.

What % of people repair the own dropper posts compared to those (like me) who would always take it to a mechanic if there’s any problems with it  ?

I’ve done Harter Fell > Nan Bield (South) before.

Harter Fell (From The Summit to where the Switchbacks start on Nan Bield Pass ) is extremely tech. Has anyone ever cleared this ???

I have never seen Nan Bield North,  is it as techy as Harter Fell ?
