IMHO chains don’t actually get longer. The wear is in the pivots rubbing the bushings creating play between them and effectively making the potential gap inside the link larger. A worn vs new chain should be the same overall length. This play in the bushings is how chains can become slack on fixed gear bikes without the chain actually being any longer.

Buy a chain checker anyway only a fiver.

ahwiles… firstly, what netbook have you installed it on? Next, do a search on google for any information relating to that netbook and the ubuntu version that you are using. For the most part, if you are trying to do something, someone else will have already tried it, and will have asked the same questions you are asking, and they’ve probably got the answers from those ‘twatty’ forums you seem to have an issue with.

I think Simpsons went through a bad patch because they were working on the movie at the time so must have had a split focus as series 20 & 21 were great.

Best song ever in Homer Badman when he sings “Under the Sea” from the little mermaid.

I for one really like Ubuntu, yes it can be frustrating at times and you aren’t spoonfed like windows. But once up and running its great. Its much more stable than Windows, I think I’ve have 1 freeze out of 4 machines in the last 2 years. Remember no threat from viruses either and no need for AV programs.

When you get a problem yes there is lots of googling but hey its free. Oh have you made sure you’ve instatlled the latest updates before trying to fix the touchpad?

Personally I don’t bother posting on the forums for help as this can take a long time getting the response, just keep googling and you’ll usually find the answer.

Was going to go tonight, but after reading the hype I went during my lunch break to a different store, managed to grab the last one! guy came in about 1 minute after me looking for one too, he looked a bit gutted when he saw me clutching the last one in a death grip.

Arghh, daugther’s bike has 14″ wheels which are supposed to fit but its a fixie and the website states they are only for use with freewheels also she still uses stabilizers. Do you reckon that is a deal breaker?

BTW how niche is my daugther? anyone else have a 14″ fixie 8)

thanks, yeah riding on tarmac or compacted wide pathways.

Seen a few positive reviews, just that last week saw someone using one and his childs bike was slanted sideways by about 10 degrees off the vertical, didn’t look very comfortable for him, the dad looked oblivious to it, is he just a muppet that can’t set it up properly?

Poor kid will have no problems riding beams when he gets older.

There just hype to sell non adjusting weights at high prices IMO. Buy some dumbells/barbell save some cash and be able to do a wider variety of movements. Not saying they wouldn't work but traditional freeweights only workouts would be better than Kettlebells only workouts.

If you want to try dynamic lifting be careful, work on your form or you could do yourself a nasty.

A great core/back/flexibility excercise is the overhead squat

I blame the footballers for earning so much money, gits…. when I'm supreme ruler they'll be the first against the wall, next all the other people who do things I find no subjective value in so are therefore worthless.

Spend alot of time with the car/salesman even if you have made your mind up, the longer he thinks you are on the hook the more interest he'll have in haggling the price so not to lose a sale. I find you have to go through all that pony first otherwise they aren't interested in haggling of the bat since its cost them no effort.

I find that once one hauls oneself out from the deprevation of the north and finds oneself again in the company of civilised men you would be well advised to call your evening meal Dinner. Tea is something one partakes in after a vigorous opening in cricket or after a pleasent afternoon stroll.

This thread is sooooo lame, and now I've caught the lame cooties by reading it.

The parent should be developing his social skills, not teaching him how to knock the cxxp out of people!

At least with underdeveloped social skills, he'll be able to fall back on a career in IT if the boxing doesn't work out.

I'm not too sure that everyone who actually has savings or has worked hard to get a good job to buy a nice house has done it through the old boys network or standing on the backs of others, you can't really say the middleclass are like this either. I've worked hard to get to a position to buy a nice house for my family and the only debt I've ever had was a mortgage and I've not done it on daddy's purse. As a sensible person I deny myself things that I cannot afford, however if I just said "F*** it" and maxed out a few credit cards I could pay less tax and some how would deserve to.

This story is a load of bolloxs anyway as these policies would never happen, governments need middleclass housewifes and right wing grannies to get voted in.

as the excess protein intake encourages a natural anabolic state to occur giving better muscle growth/repair. You may not use all the extra protein to grow tissue but it pushes your metaoblism into better recovery.

…it says here on this packet of revolting protein powder…

If you speak to powerlifters they eat 2 to 3grams per pound bodyweight every day

you mean they can talk ???

    1. No personall experience over 10 years recording my diet and strength gains, however I should have used an IMO in the first post.

    2. So the logic goes that the stronger a person gets the less intelligent they become? are you a skinny chap by any chance? Dr Squat

also the "your body can only absorb so much protein in one meal" is a myth

So if you ate 3lb of protein your body would absorb *all* of it? None of it would be excreted as waste? Yoikes!

Reductio ad absurdum as you would need to ingest 12lbs of protein powder to do this, you can't expect anything taken in that amount to be fully absorbed by the gut. Also to be pedantic excretion by definition implies it being absorbed in the first place. Yes in more sensible "higher intakes" the body would excrete excess as urea after being absorbed by the gut as amino acids, but IMO the excess in amino acids in the bloodstream increase the growth response.

Most of it has suger etc in it, you are better off with some meat or tuna and milk.

If you use unflavoured whey protein you are only getting 1 or 2 grams of sugars per 100g of powder.

myprotein.co.uk, good store. Cheaper and better qualtiy than shop stuff.

Protein powder does work, as the excess protein intake encourages a natural anabolic state to occur giving better muscle growth/repair. You may not use all the extra protein to grow tissue but it pushes your metaoblism into better recovery. If you speak to powerlifters they eat 2 to 3grams per pound bodyweight every day despite not wanting to add masses more muscle (once they are in their weight category), all because of the extreme forces they subject their muscles to (e.g. 400+kg Squats).

If your kidneys are fine high protein offers no health risks IMO also the "your body can only absorb so much protein in one meal" is a myth, cavemen didn't split out their protein consumption; they ate protein when they caught it. Yes you do need to eat real food but whey is a "supplement" and is a healthier option than eating loads of extra meat. If still not convinced that it has any growth/recovery value check out the ingredients on baby formula milk, first on the list is Whey Protein Concentrate.
