    Hi all,
difficult area this one, as we do not fit the patches from standard- after all some people runs brakes different ways, some people fit narrow/wide bars, shorter/longer stems and

    n

their position on the bike before taking it from the bike store. One of my colleagues has been in touch with andyxxx with some advice and the images we have seen are purely cosmetic at this stage. We have advised to cover up this and all other areas where friction from cable rub could be experienced to prolong the good looks of the frame. We are also going to issue a

    m

service bulletin to all stores that these areas should be discussed prior to the bike being taken away from the store.
    Thanks

Chris King now offer a semi integrated design, which works with the E2 Trek system, Hope will have something soon, so i have been told. The Frustrum Trek fits, has available bearings as spares via a Trek dealer- part 271111 for the top bearing, part 413310 for the bottom bearing. Ta

try soaking it overnight in Coke (coca cola- not drugs!) if it sits in this fluid- then the corrosive nature of the drink may eat away at the seized crap. If this does not work, cut the seat post head off- leaving 30mm stuck out the top of the frame- then cut 2 slots into the seat post inner diameter- going down the depth of the stuck seat post, approx 5 mm apart from each other. The slots should be 85-90% of the way through the the wall thickness. Then tap this 5mm slot out with a chisel (carefully). Then crush the 30mm sticking out which should allow the stuck section to come away from the seat tube of the frame, twist and pull! Takes an hour or so!

Remedy 08, 09, 2010 (all ABP) models are qr rear hub only, 135mm. They accept a longer than normal qr skewer, but will not accept a maxle/bolt thro axle etc. 2010 is a ABP Lite system, a little lighter and slimmer.

Innit, if you can find the proof of purchase from the store, or a credit card/bank statement showing the transaction, then Trek will be happy to inspect the frame. Be aware the

    w

owners of Bonthrone are not the same business as nine years ago, so i doubt they can assist.

    Happy Hunting!

Have a tinker if u are competent, if not ask CRC to take them back for a warranty inspection and resolution. If you are happy with the forks and they get fixed, job done!!

Trek offers a 3 year manufacturing defect on Session frames, so the chainstay image- would be a clear warranty case, the crashed one would not be! Trek would offer that unfortunate rider a heavily subsidised crash replacement to replace his frame- much like most other decent companies out there. So far only one chainstay has failed in the UK- so maybe that image is for a rider in Yorkshire who is getting a new chainstay this week? n as always…try before you buy if possible!

if you decide to take it- do not leave it unattended outside of your lodge, especially on

when you empty the cabin for 10am, then spend a few more hours chilling or swimming whilst your bike is locked to the car in the car park – still inside the CP compound. the scum- will take your bike with or without rack…..take a basic trash/pub bike or hire one of theirs..or befriend a local on STW and ask them to loan a bike for a few beers and show you some local spots…

If the part is available to us (Trek) then we would be more than happily offer a replacement at a charge. Pop into a local Trek dealer, ask them to call us for the replacement price. They will need to I.D. the frame vintage and model to ensure we get the correct part. If you purchased second hand then obviously you have no warranty contract with the Trek dealer- so it will be a chargeable item,

    Thanks

wide stance bearing is what we have fitted to all suspension bikes- main pivot since 2007 season. It has an extended inner race so supports the axle better. There is no

    w

bearing, just we replace the originals that have worn out/given up/failed, for a very heavily subsidised price to keep Trek riders happy with their Trek bikes…only applies for original owners, via the place of purchase.

Biffer- thanks for the comments- but we are confident the bearings are good, just sometimes bad things happen, luckily though we can sort the issue out quickly via the Trek dealer. We stopped using cheese in bearings in the nineties, the smell was too bad in Wisconsin- and they are used to cheese!

Drunken Monkey- pop the bike back to the place of purchase with your sales receipt. Trek will offer the Wide Stance Bearings at a very heavily subsidised price (not under warranty- as we know they wear out!).The shop can also look at the swaingarm to inspect the damage- no idea what washer you mention as there is none on the main pivot…

    Thanks

More cross overs will equal more stiffness and strength, but at the sacrifice of weight. the 2 cross/3 cross will add approx 4mm to a 3 cross spoke, so 32 x 4mm is the basic weight addition.
If you are a light rider, or light on wheels, 2 cross- built well- will be fine

Trek dont like dealers mail ordering for many reasons, lack of correct set up, incorrect bike sizing, poor after sales servicing, poor warranty service, etc etc. The good news is with 300 plus dealers in England, Scotland and Wales- you can find one or more close to you. Cannondale and Marin are just two other companies running similar policies. Nothing to do with price fixing- the retailer can sell goods for what he wants to after all!!!!!
