Loving some of the posts suggesting Trek are to blame for the end of the agreement between Fox and Mojo, this is greatly untrue and unfounded. If anyone has concrete evidence that Trek are to blame- please share….
As are the some of the suggestions Trek are next door to Madison and also we share technician workspace with Mojo…All the best to the guys at Mojo who have done a great job with Fox over the years. I hope they are successful with whatever they try next.
trekcolFree MemberRorshach- spot on, Remedy has a five year swing warranty and lifetime on the main to original owner
trekcolFree MemberDepends on age whether it is still under warranty or not- pop it with your receipt back to the Trek dealer. If out of warranty then they can quote for a replacement- simples!
trekcolFree MemberIf no one comes through for you- give a Trek dealer a call as Trek still should have some-
trekcolFree MemberTake the remains to the shop to get 20% off the RXL replacements ….easy as that!
trekcolFree MemberBontrager offers a 20% carbon care scheme on any Trek or Bontrager Carbon (non OEM)product damaged in a crash or accident.
Take the parts back to a Trek dealer and they will give you 30% off the closest replacement productThey want damaged carbon products off the trails…for good reason?
You don’t even have to be the original/first owner
trekcolFree MemberTrek UK have them so pop into your local Trek or Bontrager dealer and get one ordered
Cheers
trekcolFree MemberPepper- if you are original owner with a receipt then take it back to the place of purchase. If you used the seat post supplied or one with 80mm of insertion as Trek Corp advises then there is a possibility of a claim approval.
The Trek UK team are fair and reasonable chaps!!!!
trekcolFree MemberM6ttf
Get your receipt out, pop it back into your place of purchase and ask them to log a claimYour 2008 model had a lifetime cover on main and swing. Trek then went to a five year warranty on alloy Ex swings from 2010
Trek boys in the UK will give the store the options within 24 hours of receiving the claim
Cheers
trekcolFree Memberboxelder first link is good. If you have a 2001- 2005 Trek, most came with two holes close together- approx 40mm. You buy part 210648, a disco-adaptor from a Trek dealer and bolt it on with 2 x 6mm steel bolts. This allows the I.S. 51mm caliper to be installed. If you have a 1998-2000 Trek (mid-to top end models) they installed the Hayes 22mm standard on the chainstays…the two holes where the caliper mounts is 22mm apart!
hope that helps
trekcolFree MemberDave,
the rims are nottubeless ready
in the sense that Rhythm/Comp/Pro, Race TLR, Race Lite etc are, so the Bontrager rim strip will not work.
Therefore aghetto
/Homemade conversion- tubeless system is the only way to proceed. Thanks
trekcolFree MemberI think it is a 2010 Trek 1.5 model. Aluminium frame, carbon fork.
trekcolFree Memberygm, need a few more details or better image please.
Happy to identify ittrekcolFree MemberClunky and brant are pretty close. Trek still manufacture in Wisconsin and their entire engineering, testing, design etc are based at the same building as the carbon assembly, the 5 series and below are outsourced to two seperate Taiwanese companies. They manufacture our frames to our precise spec and precise oclv construction method. Obviously we have full time employees checking quality and continual testing of product to keep controls high. The alloy frames are made in Taiwan by mainly giant. Again these frames are not re-badged giants! We have tight control on designs and tube shapes- and we own a lot of the machines that produce our technology. We do not currently produce in Vietnam, Malaysia etc. we also do not use Merida- who make a stack of other brands frames with great quality.
Alloy prototypes and special one off pro riders frames can still be made in Wisconsin, but these are pretty expensive custom runs.
All treks are designed, and tested by trek- we don’t buy ‘off the shelf’ designs from far eastern companies, which is obviously the cheapest way to produce a frame.trekcolFree MemberRear Hub on the 2007 was a Big Earl, 135mm with standard qr fitting. The dropouts were
open
not bolt through.Trek never made a
bolt through
bolt on adaptor/dropout, but the dropouts were a bolt on piece to the alloy swing, so a CNC shop could possiblyplay
with the design.Trek UK still have spares for the bolt on part, drive side is part 252931
Bolt through rear hubs were used on Diesel and the Session 8/88 design.trekcolFree MemberVintage was 2005/2006. That frame has been resprayed though, but looks like a professional job. Make sure it was not powder coated, as the heat needed may have weakened the carbon bonding areas where the stays plug into the alloy
GF is indeed a nice chap……;)
trekcolFree MemberMTBCY, i have replied to your e-mail recently. I am happy to assist you. Lets keep the correspondance off the forum until we investigate the claim fully.
Thanks
ColintrekcolFree Memberif it is a 2008-2012 Full Floater design model then best method is to loosen off the main pivot a smidge, fit the shock in and then retension to the correct torque.
trekcolFree MemberSorry oldgit, Trek did offer the spare face plate for the original XXX stem, on part 274804, but they have no more in Trek world anywhere. No plans to do another batch.
Only options are to see if anyone has a spare lying around, or re-plate the old one. Trek offer atrade-in
on all Bontie carbon components, so if you fancy a new stem, the local dealer will quote you the trade in price via the Loyalty Scheme,Cheers
trekcolFree Memberyep,
pop into a Trek shop and they will show you some drawings/schematic and all parts are still available via Trek UK. Bearings are sealed cartridge type on a threaded axle..
trekcolFree Memberi would be honest and not claim a warranty if the damage was caused by a crash…
trekcolFree MemberFlippidy- too true- i was about to post the same. Sean got hit and underwent surgery on his spine yesterday, James is back home and should be back on his bike next week, still trying to break 100k fundraising though, inspirational stuff.
trekcolFree MemberStaverton is ok- one nice boozer on the main road, best place for a nice boozer- quiet village of Badby just 3 or so miles away, great pub in the village that serves good food as well. Little woods as well- if you have a mountain bike. Daventry Town Centre is best described as

trekcolFree MemberGuys, i would like to add an additional comment. I do work for Trek, i am their warranty man
I have quoted Phil corleys a very favourable price for a replacement part. As the original poster has been honest and let people know he is not the original owner, Trek has no contract with him to supply a free of charge part. Obviously Phil Corleys will also charge a nominal profit related mark up for the part and possibly labour to install- after all they made no profit from the second hand purchase and they are a business who wants to make money!
The failure rate on the specific area concerned was tiny (less than 0.5%) so yes, we have seen some fail. These failures were resolved with free of charge replacements to original owners. The second hand owners are taken care of with very cheap replacement parts. Trek and Trek dealers final aim is to support Trek owners with good, if not great, service. If parts fail and the failure is covered by the warranty terms and conditions supplied by the shop, then free of charge parts are supplied. If parts need replacing that are not covered by the warranty terms and conditions, we will offer favourable prices wherever possible.
Thanks for all the comments, may i suggest the original poster discusses his options with Corleys and report back when his EX9 is up and running again?Trek Col
trekcolFree MemberHi,
there are 2 ways to play this…
1- be honest with Phil Corleys (and therefore Trek) and both being professional bike companies, i am sure they will charge a heavily subsidised price for the replacement part- as you are not the original owner.
2- be dishonest and see if Phil Corley and Trek supply you something as warranty. Be aware that Trek will always require the original sales receipt to be supplied on each and every warranty claim- and if a non original owner is trying to defraud the company and get found out- then of course the costs reflected may or may not be inflated in reflection of this.Good luck with your replacement part turnaround speed…. 🙂
trekcolFree Membertrek will supply (or try our very best) to supply you a swing or main frame (or both) as a crash replacement deal. take the frameset and receipt of purchase back to the store of purchase and ask them to contact us. We will
a
the broken piece and recycle/review etc.
Thanks- Colin (Trek UK)
trekcolFree Memberrode it Sat a.m. and loved it, great work and many thanks to all those who helped build it…..
trekcolFree MemberChris King offer a mixed top half and bottom half headset, tapered i seem to recall is its name. Cane Creek also offers a mixed top and bottom half. Hope also about to launch a E2/Tapered headset for Trek and Fisher frames…
trekcolFree Membercubed, thanks for posting. I thought i had personally covered all the queries, but as you wish to make it public i thought i would add the
h
of the story. the rim was ordered in January. we at Trek explained to the store that this rim was being a troublesome issue for us and the wait would be 3-4 weeks at least. we offered another solution ( alower spec rim, that would work) but that was refused. In early March the rims were due in from the USA, this was delayed. I promised a date that passed (mid March) and when that date passed and you mailed me, all i could do was
s
, apologise again and chase up the ewarehouse that was shipping the rims to the UK. At the same time i also reduced the rrp of the rim from 45.00 to 10.00 to compensate for the poor delivery. the rim arrived with us this week, the warehouse booked the rim into our inventory and shipped the rim on a 24 hour service which left us on Thursday evening. It is bad service in terms of deliveries being delayed and for that, Trek and myself would like to apologise again. I hope you are soon back on the bike again.

trekcolFree Memberbe aware a risky time for bike theft is on changeover day, where you exit the chalet, maybe pop the bike on a rack, go and have a final swim, beer, meal whilst the car is in the
c
car park. sometimes the toe-rags like to take the rack and bike and scarper…..leave inside car if possible.
trekcolFree MemberHi all,
difficult area this one, as we do not fit the patches from standard- after all some people runs brakes different ways, some people fit narrow/wide bars, shorter/longer stems andn
their position on the bike before taking it from the bike store. One of my colleagues has been in touch with andyxxx with some advice and the images we have seen are purely cosmetic at this stage. We have advised to cover up this and all other areas where friction from cable rub could be experienced to prolong the good looks of the frame. We are also going to issue a
m
service bulletin to all stores that these areas should be discussed prior to the bike being taken away from the store.
Thanks
Colin from Trek
