fbk, have you bought much off the site in the past? Just trying to work the business out. Is it the case that they seem to offer prices before having stuff in stock, as they need to wait for suppliers to put the kit on sale? And, therefore, there’s a pretty hefty delivery time.. 🙁

Shindiggy, no email in your profile.. wouldn’t mind a bit more info.
I looked at the link but it doesn’t seem very straightforward!
There seem to be a million and one steps involved..
Does anyone know if it can be done using a Mac? Or do I need a Windows PC?

Thanks STS. Be good to know how you get on.. and more importantly how your mate did it!

If you’re after a value, I looked on eBay a while back and they seem to go for anywhere between 80 and 120, depending on age, condition and extras included.

    Anyone else had any experience?

Overboard do some decent kit at very competitive prices:

I picked up one of their rucksacks for my commute and can’t fault it a year later.. never fails to keep my stuff dry and plenty of room.

And Spa Cycles generally have decent deals on touring gear:

Hope you got a nice, long trip planned 😉

Jamie, no email in your profile.. 🙁

Well, I’m certainly no expert but not a total muppet and quite up for having a go. No offence taken by the way 😉

I read through the link you sent and realise I need to download redsnow to computer and not phone.
Don’t have laptop with me so will try later when home.
I’ve tried to do it on the phone but on clicking download it states it’s unable to do.

So do you have a jail broken iPhone? You could be useful to contact later if I get confused!

Err.. How do I download redsnow, as safari on my phone won’t allow it??

Thanks all. Much appreciated. It’s an iPhone 4, so hopefully can get this sorted fairly simply..

Thanks guys. I’ve been lucky it seems, although probably would have continued to be if I hadn’t changed to the iPhone 🙁

Oh well, just have to pay the extra..

Tokyo for a weekend?? Sounds like a jetset lifestyle you have yourself 😉
I lived in Niigata for 3 years and would always recommend anything there or in Nagano. Not too bad a ‘bullet’ journey from Tokyo–although you’re pretty strapped for time.
Make sure you check out a natural onsen apres-ski!

This happened to me with an iPod Touch. I popped in to a local Apple store. Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Turned out to be a silly, easy fix, as the cable was at fault. I could’ve bought an Apple one for 18-odd quid but took a chance on the cheap eBay ones. They’ve been great and charge both my iPod and iPhone.

I’d recommend one. I did my first two events this year and was glad I didn’t have to faff around too much during transitions. I think Ribble have some deals on Orca suits. I managed to get a good deal on eBay.. found a great wetsuit this way too. Good luck and enjoy (triathlon can become quite addictive!) 😉
Oh, and don’t forget to get a tri-belt, too.

Although a 26″ mtb based bike, I’d be keen on the Surly Troll. There was a large full build on the Classifieds the other day:

Ahhh.. was so faithful to my dear old ’91 Eldridge Grade. After the tears and tantrums when it was stolen in ’97, I was seduced by the weight-weenie scene and remained attached to my M4 S-Works for a few years.
Then I discovered STW and the Classifieds.. and basically not been the same since: yep, a self-confessed bike-swapping whore! Currently have SIX bikes. The two main MTBs being a Cotic Soul and Pipedream Torero 5.5. Had these a year or so now, so my eyes are definitely starting to wander..

Bedgebury (trail centre) is just down the road. Not far to some North Downs action either–other side of Maidstone, around the Blue Bell Hill area. If you like jumps/4x/short, techy DH try PORC (Google for info), again not too far. Plenty about really.. 😉

Cheers for replies.. was wondering why there was no reference to pull when browsing online. Now just need to work out why the mech I have doesn’t work in my bottom pull hybrid frame!!

can be fairly common this, if brakes haven’t been used for while.
I see your spring tension screws are pretty much all the way in (which creates max tension).
let these screws out a bit, then bend the spring-attached rods out (can be bent easily/gently by hand), this should give the tension you need. if it needs tweaking, just turn the adjust screws whichever way..

Thanks, people. much appreciated. Cheers for the directions to previous threads.. knew there had to be some!

Due to budget, something like the Fireball looks good. Does/Has anyone have/had one? How do/did you get on with it??

I was a JET ALT a while back (1998–2001) based in Niigata. Back then I pretty much only found decent places to ride through race events. I went along to an lbs, where I eneded buying a bike and getting friendly with owner, who was really generous and keen for me to come along on rides and enter events with his team–really cool stuff ;-). Luckily there were plenty on, although we travelled fair distances to satisfy the mtb needs! There's probably good info online–start with the Japan Cycling Federation (the have English version on website).. and have a great time: ganbatte kudasai!!

isnt that chainset a triple? just a thought but no doubt you're running a single ring (somewhere around 32t?), so if this is positioned on the outer part of crank, you wont need to run so long a bb.. I may have one to fit–need to check length, though. email in profile if interested.
