I thought my bb was the cause.. turned out to be pedal/crank arm threads needing a clean and regreasing..

If you like Tange Prestige tubes, have a look at Soma Double Cross framesets. I have an older one, but they now do a disc version.

Kool Stop seem to be where it’s at for best rated.. but not cheap.
I really rate Aztec. Evans do complete set of 4 for 8.99. Pretty good deal, IMO.

ok, thanks. still not 100% sure, though, so will try to clear up with mavic..

    So the link states:

“Fits only for Mavic rear wheels with FTSL freewheel body”

Anyone know if FTSL is a standard fitting and a campag wheel will have this. I just want to know if I can pull off the campag freehub body and slot on the shimano.. ?

Or is it the case that the campag has a different FREEWHEEL on the hub and, therefore, it’s not that simple?

there’re are plenty of options there.. well, plenty for a place where there’s not much going on. I camped there, this time last year.. just me in a tiny tent and two small caravans in the whole campsite!

saddles offering range of widths for more tailored fit may be worth a look..
I’m getting on really well with a Bontrager Evoke RXL.
    this one:http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/bontrager-inform-evoke-rxl-carbon-mtb-saddle-id63364.html?gclid=CImRzp2J5LYCFYHHtAodGEIAgA

I, too, got bored and curious of alternatives. Have used an S3 over the past 4 months or so.. on and off, as I keep going back to the iPhone. Tried really hard not to, but, once used to it, it’s hard to give up iOS!

If interested, I’d do the S3 (immaculate with accessories/spare battery, etc) for 260 posted..

    I got a Pipedream Torero 5.5 in M/L.
Would sell frame alone if that’s all needed.
Check my history for info and pics.

    Check out Thorn bikes: http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/
And have a look at the SJS website–they may have something suitable in their clearance zone: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/clearance-zone-dept756_pg1/#filterkey=cat&page=1&page=1

Kev, I have an as-new regular S3 for sale. Email in profile if interested.. No details in yours.

Both are awesome tyres. Did LEJoG on regular Marathons, no punctures. In a year of commuting, one ‘freak’ puncture. Have been using XRs for 2 years’ commuting, no punctures.
    Well worth the layout, IMHO..

I use X4s on my MTBs. However, although designed for road, can’t see too much of a prob with an X2 on an XC bike.

I’m actually looking for a 90/100 X2 for my road bike. If yours is the right length, fancy a trade for a 100 X4??

1×8 here. SS specific change ring with short cage rear mech and chain length adjusted accordingly. Never had an issue with chain coming off..

You may be lucky with Import Duty.. I’ve been stung before (on a frame) but got away with smaller purchases.
Not certain of the ins-and-outs, but prob is to do with value.
If you can get the seller to mark packaging as a ‘gift’, I think you avoid the duty.

Lovely. Have been looking at the alloy options with Canyon as budget won’t allow carbon 🙁
What deal did they offer it at?

Check out Rose Bikes, too. I quite like the look of this Mr Big:

Like Canyon, a good amount of decent kit for the price..

Thanks for the input and education. So, I take it the big differences in geometry I’ve seen are because the bikes are either TT or tri specific.

I’ve completed a couple of Olympic distance events on my road bike and would like to treat myself to something new for the bigger distances I have planned.

Looks like I need to do more research and probably get professionally fitted.. although would like to take advantage of deals that the likes of Planet X, Canyon and Rose can offer–yet these aren’t easy to have test rides on 🙁

OK, I’m after a bike for triathlon. It’s just most sites I’m looking at list the bikes as TT/triathlon.. 😳

Ton, I bought the Marathon 700x35c tyres that you sold on here a while ago. Did LEJOG on them with ZERO punctures.

Also have a set of Marathon Plus 26×1.75 on the commuter.. In over a year’s daily use, again, ZERO flats.

These Schwalbe offerings defo win my vote.

I’m contemplating selling my Soul, especially if I get on with the new 29er build I have planned.
What size you after? I have a black large 2009 frame in vgc..

Yep, I’m after stuff on that page.. but if you enter the code, you get an additional 29% off. I did so the other day, but then didn’t go through with payment.. and now I can’t find the code!!

Cheers for reply. Just tried 29off29 but no joy..

Not sure if the 29 days are up or not.

    Can anyone else help?

Brilliant, thanks for all replies and input.
I have all I need for the build, including Salsa cromo forks, XT components and decent finishing kit.
    Just need the frame..

Each one of the above appeal–the Surly’s versatility massively so.
I’m not particularly heavy with the muscles, though, and like to be able to chuck my bikes at times.
Andy, you may have a point with the Alu but my last experience really did shake me bones 🙁
    Albeit this was a 26″.

I need to get decisive before I start looking at ti options!
