Which council is this? A mate of mine and I recently put an entire lathe an plaster ceiling into his wheelie bin along with all the old crap that had accumulated on the top of it and some render for good measure. No complaints there, just an empty bin.

B&Q hook and bars turned sideways for me. Takes two minutes to straighten them up and saves loads of space. Only had a squidgy rear brake which needs a few pumps to pressure back up but no dramas. Do make sure that the front quick release is done up properly though, mine made a loud bang as it flipped over backwards… 😳

Definitely get them to pay it in at the bank. Saves you having to count it in front of them and also getting any funny money. A friend of mine has done this twice and its been painless both times. Especially if you cleverly arrange the pickup near a branch of your bank… 😉

Sounds like you have been a bit unlucky but if its all stated in the T&C’s then I doubt you can do a great deal in reality. Im more confused why you are suddenly unlikely to take the course, which you had booked, another time?

One too many. 2009 Stumpjumper FSR

Turns out I upgraded and did quite well out of it but it was a hell of a pain at the time (no bike for a trip to Wales the following week) and Wheelies were less than helpful in sourcing an appropriate replacement.

    As above, the obvious choice.

Mine did this a while back, lots of failures and missed recordings and apparent clashes. Also it stopped ending the recording at the end of a program and would just fill the box. Ended up having to do full on housekeeping (ie loosing all current recordings and planner stuff) which was a ballache to redo but sorted it all out just fine.

Very useful if you have carbon stuff, if nothing else for peace of mind. Im often suprised as how little some bolts actually need tightening compared with what I would normall give them!

EDIT – I have this one and found it to be very good for the job.

Pretty sure I only paid ~£40 for it though.

An Oakley store? Or just contact Oakley direct or via Twitter. They are pretty good.

Try eating little and often rather than a stop for food. This will keep you topped up rather than dipping into hunger. Same with drinking, keep fluid levels up all by sipping often rather than drinking half your bottle when you stop.

Just aquired a Record No.2, jaws look a bit ratty, any ideas where to get some replacements? Google just shows me jaws for a No1 or No3!

I dont think thats the actual junction where she was killed, rather than an example of what happened. If I remember it was more ‘in town’ than that. There was a TV program about the entire incident, the aftermath for her family and how her mother hassled Cemex to do something about it. When they didnt she became a shareholder, went to the shareholders meeting and said her piece to all the directors. Brave woman.

I agree about the ASL’s they tempt people to do what they shouldnt. There are a few round my way that run up the centre of the road where there is a straight on and a left turn only lane but its pretty rare. I do as above and tend to do as I would on a motorbike and overtake on the right in as many situations as I can. If nothing else you are on the drivers side to knock on their window if they do something stupid!

I believe the suggestion above of having prox sensors down the sides of lorries was implemented by a company (cemex possibly) after one of their drivers killed a girl in London by turning across when she had gone up the inside of him.

    EDIT – Here we are – http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/300th-cemex-vehicle-to-be-fitted-with-sensors-to-keep-vulnerable-road-users-safe-28547/

Why cant more/all companies do this or the truck bodies come with these as standard. It would work for all types, motorbikes, cyclists, cars, even pedestrians.

A Roubaix rider was around the 8,000 calorie mark, so 24km probably isnt 1,000. 4-500 is probably far more accurate. Probably.*

Cancellara may be hurting a bit after a pretty hard looking fall during a scouting ride. I bet all the team assumed broken wrist or collarbone to start with

I had exactly this with my Canyon delivery. Took under 12 hours to get from Germany to Basildon. Then three days from Basildon to Dartford. Welcome to the UK!

Had a DPF diesel for 5 years now, its spend most of its time doing a 6 mile, town commute with multiple traffic lights and stops. Never had a problem in 70,000. Sometimes it feels a bit lumpy when idling and pulls unevenly so I either go the long way home with some NSL lanes or bung it up the motorway at the weekend.

I find it odd that people have some many issues. A quick check of the end cap from time to time and give them a quick regrease to extend some life and they are fine. Ive had multiple pairs for multiple years with no problems. My Candy’s are just starting to give up after a couple of years so £15 to keep them alive isnt a big deal and its a simple job. I would bet that unless you’ve ruined the spindle that a new bearing kit will see them running fine again.

Bought a roadie from them in December. Turned up brilliantly packaged, all the OEM bits in a bag including spare pads and such, carbon seatpost paste etc etc.

Quality is also excellent, thoughtful cable routing around the headtube with rubbery bumpers and plenty of tape in the right places.

Backup, not sure, had no need to contact them!

About 40 of us descend on the Glan Aber hotel in Betws every year. It has bunkhouse or hotel rooms to suit varying budgets within the group, welcomes bikers and such and does a decent breakfast too. About 2 minutes walk from everything in town.

We only have a landline for broadband purposes. Get loads of free mobile minutes so no need. Still have the number to write on forms and things, anything really important I just use my work number anyway!

Can only assume this will try and remove as much blame as possible and paint a ‘poor old Lance’ picture that he ‘had to do it to fit in’ etc etc. No thanks.
