Perhaps they should spend a bit more time designing a decent F1 car than making the ugliest bikes they can think of.

Ive already had one of my two rounds of sarnies. Mainly to stop my stomach sounding like a broken cement mixer whilst sat in the barbers.

Thts because first rule of bike security is dont show your bike security.

    Fair enough, just curious!

Cant help but notice not many people seem to have much in the way of security on the actual bikes in any of those pictures. No locks or even floor security rings etc. Based on reading the theft threads the impression is more security than bikes but none of these appear to have any at all!

My understanding was that ProPedal doesnt lock out, just reduces pedal bob via increasingly firmer settings…

Drop your bike it, go to the docs, then come back via the bike shop for the verdict. If you find something wrong later it will be very difficult if not impossible to claim for it, make sure you have the all clear (or not) before you submit the claim.

I cant help think its strange that they would want to avoid insurance unless they have other claims on there. Generally speaking its cheap when you are that old so it would barely touch their premium, especially if its protected. The general state of the car may mean its been in a few shunts here and there.

Get ALL your kit checked clothing, bike and accessories and get yourself checked out properly as well. With most excess payments being around £250 I would think this is a straight to insurance job.

Im surprised at Apple, Ive had three iPhone replacements over the years, all out of of the 1 year warranty and none have taken more than about 15 minutes in store.

Has anyone managed to get an insurance company to reverse its decision?

Yep, had to go through the ombudsman which took ages but eventually got a full payout for spinal surgery in Greece.

American Express sorted me out, cheaper than the AA from last year. Website had some wording around bikes but wasnt that clear, rang them up, guy on the phone couldnt have been more helpful. Explained about them being in a shed, secured with locks and alarms etc and he said that was fine, as long as a reasonable attempt was made to secure them.

Does the cable work for sure? Have you picked up a crossover instead of a straight through cable? (Are the wires in the same order at each end?)

    good knowledge of the product

This is something that I’ve found lacking in lots of sales people over the last few years. Just spouting lots of buzz words and cant really answer anything about the product and have to refer to ‘their technical team’.

Perhaps ask to shadow a sales person for a day or two or sit down and have a chat with them and see what’s involved day to day? If it still sounds OK then give it a go.

Pft clearly knows nothing, specced as latest kit and then only 18 gears, how quaint. 🙄

My SRAM Red mech does this too and after much fiddling the source of all the noise is the wheel/hub echoing. Ive got my winter wheels on now (metal with steel freehub) and its virtually silent, with the carbon wheels its a cacophony of rattles.

Thanks guys, I’ve been looking at the Lux as well, very tempting, great spec for the money as always but the lack of finance may make it unaffordable tbh.

Was looking at Scalpels but am slightly put off by the lefty kit and the price, the carbon team coming in at £6500! I’m going to arrange a test ride once the worst of the winter weather has passed but info on the Lapierre just appears harder to come by, never seen one out at races or on the trails which fuels my curiosity and makes me want one more!

Thanks looks great! Ill be looking at the CTD version as well so good to know its more than capable without all the electronic bells and whistles. Have you upgraded/changed anything since buying or is that stock?

I have to agree with the female No2. However in on building we have a specific disabled toilet which can only be occupied one at a time. They all use this for any No2 action. None of them appear to have realised the fact that they are just making it even more obvious. Except for one who leaves the door ajar afterwards to air it out…

WD Red are designed for NAS boxes so cost more for their (apparently) extended lifespan. Yellow is enterprise storage which presumably is a slightly better version of red perhaps designed for more reads/writes and blue is their HA range. I suspect Red would be fine for just backing up stuff.

I have storage heaters, they are not all that bad, if you use them properly. Took me a while to get the hang of them though. They are not a substitute for central heating but it is cheap. Older ones are pretty ugly but the newer ones can be quite subtle. Dont let it stop you buying a house, especially if its put together properly and doesnt leak air everywhere.

This was my first house and although they are far from perfect, they are nice and simple.

You could try Adrian Flux, they seem quite good with younger drivers, however its going to be super pricey wherever if he doesn’t have a full license. Good on him for wanting it himself, its the path to no claims bonus and marginally cheaper driving!

American Express came in with some good cover at a decent price last time I looked. Bonus points if you can pay with an Amex card as well.

its illegal to be monitoring your activity without officially warning you they are doing so

That maybe however its not illegal to monitor your network traffic and alert anyone with a higher than average usage. They haven’t said you need to stop surfing STW, just that the usage is one of the top users on the list.

Counter his question, ask him if your usage is a problem and if so has he considered upgrading the antiquated network technologies he is no doubt running. Put him on the back foot.

Perhaps a rewind rather than reset. There is plenty Id rather not experience twice but a few things that Id be curious to see the different outcomes of.

Did you say a driving school that hates cyclists? Persecution?

Quite enjoying Silk at the moment, only a couple at a time oh and old Black Books and In the thick of it. (sad to see In the Loop isnt)

House of Cards is truly excellent though.

Ah, if you bought a car with DPF then v-power would be a wise investment! Its saved me all sorts of bother with mine. Supermarket stuff makes it run like toilet.

So 2 miles of stressing the engine up a hill reduced your fuel consumption. Sounds about right. Take it for a cruise down the motorway and watch it go up. Or just not worry and stop wasting fuel on testing your range computer which is a rough estimate anyway.

    treaclesponge
    Free Member

Pretty sure the fuel doesn’t tell the range meter when you fill it up that it can go further. Plus its all based on your mileage before filling anyway. Mine often says 450-470 and then goes up to 520-530 by the time I get home.

Dont know what you are all moaning about, 70,000+ desktops and laptops all running IE8 here, IE10 due to become company standard early next year. 🙂

Thought about contacts? Cheaper than prescription glasses and dont break so easily when you fall off. Peripheral vision is your natural maximum. Ive found them invaluable for riding and its meant that I now wear them all the time as glasses get in the way so often!

Ok thanks. Might have to investigate as obviously paid up for the TomTom app so would rather not ‘bin’ it for something else. Annoying as there seems to be very little choice. JVC do mirrorlink but its non-apple…

Hmm, got a bit of interest in this myself. Can you via the apps from the phone on the headunit? Sounds like a cool way of getting my iPhone TomTom GPS into the car properly

Nice looking Passat (albeit a saloon) in the classifieds for half your budget at the moment…
