    Chain too short? Poor shifting?

Ive never, ever snapped a chain in 10+ years riding.

Brilliantly, replaced a Remedy and a Spark with an Epic which I took to Cwmcarn yesterday for its first proper ride (not round the local woods etc) and it was excellent, had all the climbing prowess needed for going up, and sucked up the descents admirably.

Another vote for Invisiframe, drop Lee an email about your trip, I travelled up from Kent for the day and he was incredibly accommodating. Top bloke and top kit.

I believe that your complaint is dealt with by someone who works on behalf of the ombudsman. If you disagree and wish to appeal the decision then you can but you need to go in guns blazing with as much information as you can possibly get to support your case. It will be be sent direct to the Ombudsman who will review the case once more and make the final decision, which you cannot appeal.

Pretty sure it differs from person to person. My riding buddy commutes into London most days and averages anything from 100-150K a week and I manage about 50K a week if Im lucky, usually only at the weekends but in races and rides we couldnt be closer in terms of fitness/endurance.

I must be lucky then, when the OH rings the docs is very unusual if they cant fit her in that afternoon or worst case first thing the next day. Often they will call back offering a cancellation if one crops up.

If it helps, I recently got an Epic, and its truly awesome. Its also my only bike so had to fit the do it all category which so far its managed with aplomb.

Used to do this with a mate, eBay roulette if you will. Has to be something you dont want or need. Eventually gave up when I won a knackered old coffee table I didnt want.

Am weighing up a Feedback stand with the aim of never having to buy another one. The fact that it handles through axles and QR’s and does clamp the frame seems like a good thing to me.

DHB Aeron Pro’s are cheapish and comfy for the money, recently got some Assos though and it is a different league. Both in price and quality.

How would you suggest that the ‘perp’ locked your bike up if your lock was locked and he/she wanted to take their lock away…? Or should they have searched the university until they found you or just decided that it was a bit mean to leave it unlocked so changed their plans/needs to suit your selfishness?

    treaclesponge

they could easily have left it locked.

How? If they took their lock (which, as you say, isn’t in the picture) how were they supposed to leave your bike secured? Basically you have had a scare, been lucky so learn from it, park your bike where its supposed to go rather than where you want to put it.

If you are worried about a bit of bird poo why not get a tarp zip tied over the cage roof or something. Seems you are looking to blame someone else for your own incompetence.

    So…

I have a huge lock [£100 worth of Abus Granit X-Plus]

    then

Today I come back to find someone has moved my bike and left it unlocked.

Not sure of the point of your really expensive lock if you can merely undo the thing its attached too. Why not just spend 5 mins to find out the cage code and park like the rest of the cyclists?

Its quite amusing that when its foggy the majority have no lights on, yet when is a clear evening everyone drives around with the fog lights on…..

Also plenty of cycle commuters out this morning sans any lights at all.

Gopping. The red one has XTR by the look of it?

I think they need to invest in a wider gang plank for their yacht and some tennis lessons for the wife.

Someone needs to explain to him the concept of pockets on jerseys, bottle cages and the fact that a bag wont reduce the risk of a flat tyre.

I had a couple of mice that crept in through the back door last summer. Took me a while to work it out, just thought I was going mad with the movement in the corner of my eye. Eventually one sneaked across the lounge one evening so I got a humane trap, caught one that night, one the next and released them half a mile away in the local woods. Nothing since, so its not all bad. Even left them with half a digestive biscuit each as supplies for their new woodland adventure… 😳

Try Decathlon, got a set from there for a road trip for about £35. 2km range, simple to use, push to talk style things with a ear piece and inline handsfree mic so you can use it whilst riding or without rummaging in a bag. Not sure on battery life but they easily lasted a full day in the car with banter flying around.

Got TomTom on my iPhone and the integration is excellent, calls are no problem, siri handles texts if I need to reply and it mutes music if you have the voice directions on. Phone sits in a cradle so always charged up (although I do add/remove the charge lead on the longer journeys to prevent screwing the battery) and once you get out there is nothing left in the car to nick and no sucker marks on the windscreen. Also comes in handy if you are a passenger with someone without a nav kit. Once used it on my bike as well to get back to civilisation when I got lost.

I got an Alpkit Gourdon for commuting and its excellent. Not the most comfy thing ever but with some sensible packing its fine, and, as its primarily a dry bag, not even a hint of damp inside.

Is there no way of ventilating it if its not already? I presume with the tumbledryer in there it gets nice and warm and (ahem) moist so perfect for mould. Perhaps an extractor fan coupled with a dehumidifier for a bit might allow you to at least get your floor paint down.

Yep excellent service always, never had a smashed up parcel either and the drivers, although usually in a rush, are always polite/friendly. A lesson to all the others.
