I have just measured a few 27.5+ tyres on Nextie Jungle Fox rims (52mm wide) and on average them come out at between 71-73mm wide on the widest point. You would need to have an extra gap of 2-3mm either side to be safe (min) for mud clearance and frame/wheel flex

I (Travers Bikes) produce a number of titanium frames that fit 27.5+/650b+ and 29ers wheels. The RUSSTi comes in 2 versions 650b+/29er or 29+. My Fat bike the Fat Race or Bat Fastard also take 29+ wheels and tyres.

I have just put some Panaracer Gravel Kings 700×40 on my bike, I have done a 150 miles on the road so far and they seem to roll quite well, Also a 2hr ride in the woods and they handle everything pretty well but were a bit sketchy on loose gravel…but possibly the tyres were over inflated. I have also had a crack at 2 dry and dusty Cyclocross races on them and I had no issues.

To be upfront I am Travers Bikes, I have been working on this little project for the last 2 years. The idea was to produce a winter road bike that was equally at home offroad so I could also do a spot of Cyclocross racing and explore the back roads in the off season. This is my personal bike.

I have a number of demo bikes built up and will be building more in the next couple of months to cover all the sizes. I am based in Essex and will be doing some demo days in a couple of months, date to be confirmed on my website. Eds Bikes in North Yorkshire also has some demo models. I will also have a stand at Brighton Big Dog

The 29+ is far from dead and is ideal for taller riders. The New Travers Rusty frame will come in 27.5+ S, M and L and 29+ M, L and XL

I dont want to argue the point of “Made in England” is best etc, in a ideal world I would have my frames made here in the UK (to support local business) and its something I am always looking and hopefully at some point in the future this will happen but to brand all imported frames as being the same is unfair. Its the same the world over, you pay your money and you get the frame/support and backup that goes with it.

Travers Bikes are not simply an importer of off the shelf frames in a big container. All my frames go though a prototype stage and these are designed and tested in the UK by some of Awesome UK riders/Brand Ambassadors before going into production. All the frames have custom geometry, custom dropouts (on thru axles) and custom chainstays and internal cable routing (where used). I have also designed a unique Eccentric Bottom Bracket, which had all the prototype work done in the UK but when it came to production the UK firms wanted more per unit that the RRP I could charge! All Travers frames also come with a Life Time Warranty and with UK support too, I am at many events during the summer where I offer free backup to riders (not just with Travers frames).

Also my carbon “Prong 29” fork is unique to me, I hold the molds and have put it through the EN standard myself which is pretty unheard of for such a small company.

Shand do make some lovely frames too, if I was looking for a UK steel frame then they would defiantly be high on my shopping list.

I dont want to take over this thread with an advert but (I am the owner of Travers Bikes) can produce a bespoke titanium frame for you. Its not on my website yet (it will be later today) but I will be running an offer where you can have an bespoke Road, CX or touring frame made for £1499 and MTB, Plus or Fat Bike for £1599.

You will be able to have any BB, headtube, top tube length etc. The only thing extra on top of the base price will be (if required) S&S Couplers, EBB and polished or painted finish

Yes I have a number of titanium frames that can handle the 29+ wheels size, The Fat Race which is a 26″ Fat Bike frame that can handle a 29+ wheels and makes an ideal summer bike then put the 26″ back on for the winter. I also have 2 dedicated 29+ frames the Rudy Fat which is a standard derailleur gear frame or the Angus which is designed to be a single speed or Rohloff hub geared bike. http://www.traversbikes.com

Hi at Travers Bikes we produce 2 29er plus frames both are titanium, 1 is a single speed specific called the “Angus” after the current single speed world champion (which he has just won the dutch national single speed champs on) and the other is a more traditional geared frame called the “Rudy Fat” you can check out the range on our website Travers Bikes or you can see them in the flesh at eds bikes in North Yorkshire (they currently have our fat bike on display) or the 29er shop in Denmark.

I will also be at a number of events during the summer…we are a friendly bunch pop on over for a chat and a test ride.

I am designing a specific frame to accommodate a Rohloff hub and 29+ wheels. The frame is called the “Angus” after the current “World Single Speed Champion” who will be riding one in defense of his title in Alaska and at the Europeans in Ireland.

The Angus frame will be made from titanium and will share many of the tried and tested features such as angles and geometry from our current 29+ frame the “Rudy Fat” but with a specific EBB, split seatstay, room for up to 46t Gates carbon belt drive front cog/ring in the redesigned bottom bracket/chainstay area.

    for more info http://www.traversbikes.com
