The PTO can ONLY be engaged when the vehicle is stationary.

A power take-off (PTO) is a mechanical gearbox used to transfer power from the engine and transmission of a truck to supplementary elements, such as hydraulic pumps. The pump generates a hydraulic flow that’s transferred to cylinders and hydraulic motors as their power source.

I’ve genuinely tried to leave the PTO engaged and drive off to see if it’s possible and I’ve never managed to get it to work.

As someone who has driven these tippers, I can assure you that hasn’t risen whilst been driven.
The bodies are raised by hydraulics and can only be raised when stationary. They require you to press the clutch down for a few seconds to wait for the flywheel to slow down before pressing a button that angages the lifting gear. Only then can do raise up the body.
There are audible and visual alarms to let the driver know that the gear has engaged and that the body is raised.
The body can be lowered whilst driving however as you’re simply releasing the hydraulic oil bank into the tank from the rams.

I’ve seen car drivers sat at the truck pumps filling up with adblue.. Confused me no end the first time I pulled up to have a car in front of me and nearly jumped out to ask what he was doing before it dawned on me.
Apparently its cheaper from the pump.. Also the nozzles for the trucks are the same size as cars.

Not all shimano hubs are cup and cone these days, the mt410 I have on my bike have cartridge bearings(iirc they’re 6903). Cant say whether its the same higher up the range

160kg here and use schwalbe johnny watts 29×2.6 (although the 2.35 version would do) for exactly that type of riding.
Setup tubeless with no issues in over 700 miles so far

Loved my old wicked… Had the 2014 silver one that was actually 650b. Was one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned👌

Would also like to know this as I’ve been searching for something like a salsa Anything Cradle to take a large drybag for a while.
Just checked out that drjon stuff and it’s a shame it’s limited to 1.7kg max or that would’ve been perfect for my ebike.
If anyone has the salsa in 35mm clamp I’d be interested in buying it 👍

What year model did you get.. Rode a mates one from a few years ago and I’m considerably heavier than you and it was fine so sounds like something isn’t quite right there

I take it that you have the shimano funnel for the lever?
Have you tried bleeding from the top down first?… With the rubber bung removed and hose pressed onto the then exposed exit hole.. Half a turn should see fluid releasing.
You seem to be having the opposite problem to what I had on one of mine haha.. The slightest turn of the Allen headed bolt allowed fluid to escape even past the threads… So much so that I needed to remove it fully and wrap the threads with ptfe tape before I could actually start the bleeding process.
Next step would be to remove the caliper from the bike and let it hang down into a jug of some sort to catch the fluid and completely remove the bleed port screw and see if there’s anything obvious that could be at fault before trying again

Which caliper? Newer shimano have the hose attachment underneath the rubber bung on the side of the caliper and you only need to undo the Allen headed screw about half a turn before fluid will start leaking out.
Apologies if this isn’t relevant to yours.

Unfortunately the only way this type of behaviour changes is by hurting the driver in the pocket.
Cyclingmikey on YouTube seems to get results so maybe think about a f+r facing camera for your helmet and pass on any close passes/bad driving to the police?

Just seen this on the topgear YouTube channel… Yes please

Ford have a transit eV on their website with roughly 190 mile range… Looks ok

Don’t do it!… Buy a trance-e instead, the stance has a lower powered motor in comparison. (may or may not make a difference for you)

    Mine is soo much fun😉

6 person household here and pay £17.99 a month for the family premium thing that does both music and video ad free.
No other app/s get used anywhere near as much so I’d consider it good value

Is it definitely the chain slipping?
Any chance you could try it in different gears to possibly rule out the freehub being at fault?

Yeah.. Cartridges are cheap and easy to change over.. Had to do one on my sons bike a few months ago. All good after

Literally just opened my pair (thanks for the psa) and immediately thought the same😔

I suppose I could use these as inspiration to build up another bike🤔

Wildcard entry. I have a ’21 trance e that I use for everything from commuting to days out in the hills.
Buy whatever bike you desire/fits best etc and then budget for either topeak tetra racks or thule packnpedal kit.
I personally have the packnpedal stuff as its what was available when buying but I’ve used it for a few overnighters with no issues so far.
When you’re fully laden with kit and riding longer distances, I personally prefer having the comfort of rear suspension. Just a thought

I have a 20″ hotrock that’s been sat in the shed for a while as my daughter grew out of it
It’s rather old now as it’s been through all 4 of my kids(think it’s about 10 years old).
Might only be 99% complete but happy to donate it for the cost of postage if its any good?

Local glazing supplier. When I was in the trade it was the cheapest place.. Used to cut our own glass and have it sent off to specialists (moreso for glass tables etc but the principle is the same)

Really wished they made a slaughter in a black diamond casing and in a 2.4/5 size.
As it is, I’ve been using a 29×2.3 vittoria martello tnt casing which whilst not being quite as fast rolling.. Has proven to be decent in most conditions and tough too.

Have a look through this link
    https://www.gov.uk/being-a-goods-vehicle-operator/what-happens-if-you-break-the-terms-of-your-licence

It clearly shows what the o licence holder is responsible for… No amount of signing paperwork will put all the onus on yourself.

Who is in charge of the cpc training at your place? .. Id start there and if no joy, call the dvsa and ask for clarification.

    transporter13

Who’s name is on the operates licence?
Reagrdless of a signed piece of paper, any wrongdoings by you and they’re also culpable.
Any infringements you incur will affect the companies OCRS score which can affect how often you are targeted by the dvsa for spot checks etc.
I’d suggest you have a proper look through what total carrying weight your vehicle has and be strict as to how its loaded.
Things like defect checks/exceeding drivers hours/using correct modes/safe loading/not overloading are the main things you can control anyway.
What is the tare weight of your 7.5t vehicle? What is the maximum permissable load? Do you know how much equipment and bodies it takes to get to the max gross weight?
I’d start there before even entertaining signing anything personally.
Are they decent for keeping vehicles in safe/working condition?

What about keeping it all and scouring ebay for bare frames that can accept a bosch motor etc? Could be a chance to rebuild a bike for yourself or worst case at least have a full bike to sell?

I’m rounder than anyone on here, in the same position as you… Just taken delivery of a vango kiana xl which fits me fine being 100cm wide. 28quid on amazon and can squeeze down into a bag half the size it comes in.

I sold all mine bar one like others on here. Lasted about 6 months of non use before I sold up completely. All depends what type of ebike you buy and what you ride mostly. Most of my riding is general xc and trail stuff and I bought a focus jam2 29er which does it all. Friends bought more dh/enduro focused ones and bemoan the fact that they’re not as good as their manual trail bikes for normal riding. So I’d say it can be done solely with an ebike.ymmv

He’s currently waiting for the new battery to be fitted and has been waiting since March. It only arrived last week
