Let me reassure you good people that the national treasure known as SFB was never in any danger. I had already strapped on my hockies and personally inspected the canal in question for 10 miles either side of his photo opportunity. To be on the safe side, and knowing what a wag he is for the unexpected, I also checked the River Lune above Skerton weir. All was thick ice, so much so that I felt it safe to jump some 'moist bridge underparts'! 8)

TJ please don't diminish the heroic danger of my deeds! (Canals are only really deep at locks, most people don't realise this.)

It's a Fleet Air Arm fly past. Isn't there a carrier or something currently in port?

Seem to remember it mentioned on news earlier this week.

Edit:
Thought so!

Azure, the Crosses Saltire of St. Andrew and St. Patrick, quarterly per saltire, counterchanged Argent and Gules, the latter fimbriated of the second, surmounted by the Cross of St. George of the third, fimbriated as the saltire.

is the heraldic description, or 'blazon'.

So blue it is.

Wales was regarded as part of England at the time!

In the late 50's/early 60's I remember 'deep sea divers' in cereal packets. They were blue tadpoley things with a hole in the centre. Place some bicarbonate of soda (an everyday household item at the time!)in the hole, drop into a screw top bottle filled with water. Unsrewing/screwing the bottle top made the diver rise and fall. Hours of amusement! As a 4yr old, it seemed it was obviously due to pressure differentials. To my teenage uncles,it was magic!

The neerest I can find quickly! Not a good view of the steps, alas, but 45yrs ago I rode them daily! Googlemapping, I cannot recognise the surrounding area, it has been so redeveloped, but the steps have been kept!

There is at least 60 years history gone from the maps, gulp! Where is my childhood cast to? :(

Tyger, the worst that happens is something being sold. It has a value placed on it, you are supposed to contract into buying/not buying for life. Satisfaction is not guaranteed.
If I buy and then change my mind 6 months down the line because I am unhappy with the terms and conditions, who do I complain to?

Over 600 posts, most of them tripe!
I used to believe in the STW hive mind, now I have doubt.
You have collectively destroyed my faith.
Is there a beta way of life?

If so, what tyres?

People who come into my shop asking for a 'Magneta' printer cartridge!
I can't decide if it arouses me, or if I just see red!

B*st*rds that ask for 'Kiane', just make me sad and weepy, and kind of blue. She was the people's print cartridge!

I remember EJ as the prat who claimed he could hear the difference between different manufacturers batteries, when used in effects pedals.

To this day I cannot tell whether it was a wind up at some precious journo or not. Having read other interviews, I tend towards him being serious! 8O

That last foto of fmh's just has to be the subject of a caption comp!

It's beautiful!

The subject of the first should advertise all things cycling!

Don't worry though. I bought a ticket and don't want a refund. In fact you are welcome to my share of the beer!
