Been running a pair of the solo air 20mm axle for a couple of weeks and v. impressed. Not sure if I need 150mm though – might reduce them to 140mm at next fettle. Motion Control, good build quality, plush travel, good looks, cheap – what’s not to like?

But if you want s service same day, or even a certain time of the day, I’m thinking it offers another element. The town I’m thinking of is not actually Kiddy, but it contains a lot of legal firms, estate agents, accountants etc, that I’d imagine might use a quick and trustworthy service.

    I’ve got the 2009 pre-“X” frame and it’s a 22mm, 6mm bolt size (or 1/2″ Fox). I don’t think they changed when they went to “X” frames.

If you can’t afford to put £1,000+ a year down on buying shares, buy into one or two investment trusts/funds. It’s far cheaper if you can only put away £100-200 pm, plus you’re benefiting from buying into expertly managed funds (on the whole!). It’s a good starting point until you’re minted enough to vary your portfolio with buying stocks and shares. You can still satisfy your risk appetite with the 1,000s of different funds on offer. An investment portfolio isn’t just about share buying. Think also about commodities, precious metals, currency exchange, bonds/debt, property, antiques, collectables etc.

So, did you get the answers you were looking for?

Best all-round tyre IMO, they’re progressive, so they give a little, then grip when you really need them to. 2.4 UST on Stan’s Flows is a deadly combo.

Forget Oliver’s 30 Minutes book, his Ministry of food one is by far and away the best cook book we have ever owned. Importantly, it contains simnple meals that we constantly return to. It’s a book written for blokes like us: Ministry Of Food book[/url]

Thanks guys, to be honest I think I’ll stick them all on Music Magpie. If I get enough to buy a pair of new wheels for my singlespeed, I’m happy. All the music is now on my ipod and backed up on a portable hard drive. Might even buy another hard drive as a second backup.

So sorry to hear of this. Our two Collies died three months ago. Perhaps it was a little easier to take as they died from old age, but it’s still bloody tough to deal with. Stay positive and think of the 8 years you enjoyed together. We’ve now got two 11 week olds from the same litter. We picked them up from Penybontfawr, just a mile from the Athertons’ home village of Llangynog. There’s new life in the house again and it’s fantastic.

It’ll be very close to the Wobble. Don’t want to drink too much real ale and wander onto a special stage on the singlespeed!

That’s pretty much it. If the Maxxis are LUST, you won’t even need to pull the bead anywhere, if using a floor pump.

I’d say it was a week last Monday down the baked goods aisle. Had a proper swagger going on, one hand on hip, basket on elbow in t’other.

I bought a 4″ Trance, stuck 6″ forks and big tubeless tyres on it and my confidence/speed on DHs has dramatically increased. I often ride with a couple of Nomads with 7″ 36 forks and keep up/beat them. The bike definitely helps, but it’s not all about 6″ plus in the UK, unless you’re doing full-on DH tracks.

They're great wheels. Bearings last and easy to tension. Just regularly service the freehub and they'll last and last. Why do you want to convert to centrelock? IMO, it has no benefit over rotor bolts and you're limiting yourself to Shimano-only brakes.

Love mine to bits. Had it over two years. My DH riding has developed a heck of a lot due to this bike. Awesome all-rounder. Now looking to upgrade the forks to Revs or Pikes. These Recons are 130mm and I reckon even if I add another 10-20mm up-front, it'll still handle beautifully. Versatile is the word:

Just using basic schrader BMX tubes. So, every time you change a tyre, you have to cut and fit a new strip?

Weird then, as a 2.5mm key is definitely too small and a 3mm too big for my Avids.

Yanks still use imperial, so US components are not metric-sized.

Non dog-owners wonder why we put ourselves through it, but you can't be without them can you? It's the first time my wife has been without a dog in her life. That's one of the hardest things I've got to deal with now. We'll get through it though, we always do.

Nezbo, gutted for you mate. That must have been very emotional. I was sobbing like a baby tonight and weirdly, I get emotional after some epic enduros. That would have been a heck of a combo for me.

Cheers. According to the iTunes support site, if you hold shift and open iTunes, it brings up an option for you to choose library. I guess you can then choose the external drive then.

Listen to them on a decent hi-fi system instead of the low-fi copies on a crappy portable with in-ear phones.

I don't have the budget to fork out on a Linn separates system, but I did used to listen to them with a Denon CD player, Technics amp and Mission speakers. IIRC, they were all well rated in What Hi-Fi etc at the time.

I actually think an Ipod and decent in-ear phones bring out just as much quality.

Rode up to a couple completely naked, at it, in the middle of a trail. Think he'd just gone past the vinegar strokes. I didn't speak, just rode around them and carried on.

friendsandfamily, sure, email address in profile. Basically if you start your ride at Llangollen, you ride up to World's End. At the top you'll see Llandegla forest on your left. Find some boardwalk and ride it into the forest. Do the blacks and reds, have a coffee and some cake at the cafe, ride back up to where you came into the forest, then ride up to some TV masts. Then, there is a cracking descent off there (past the top masts), back onto the road you came up on. Then, cross the roads to a trail that takes you up around the cliffs. After that, it's a cracking singletrack descent back to the road lower down.

If you do the black on a rigid SS, then it will be boring, no matter how fast you're bound to tell me you can go on it. You need to do it justice and rail it on a decent FS. If you ride it on the right bike, at the right speed, then you'll love it. Also best to add in some of the cracking natural trails around it.

FFS, can we not just give this coalition a chance? I'd forgotten the last time I agreed with political news I hear in the media – until post-election this year. What a breath of fresh air it was, getting those cash-burning goody-goody tw*ts out. Please let's not ruin things so soon. Wishful thinking, I know.

I fitted UST Nobby Nics to Flow rims and it is the best upgrade I have ever made. Better tyre profile and grip has meant the biggest improvement to my downhill skills ever. Just fitted a shiny pair of 2.2 tubeless Rubber Queens – can't wait to try them.

Swift, how did you remove the Truvativ adaptors to service the non-drive side? You can't remove the lip seal or get to the bearing with the adaptors fitted.

"English Border Front". The firm of Shrewsbury Town Football Club, from the 80s. Still some local hardnuts involved in it. Harlescott is one huge housing/council estate where I suspect many live.

"World Cup Descent" was awesome, worth the extra mileage, but jesus, I'm tired now. Does anyone know where and when the times will be posted (recall previous years' pulling of teeth to get the times out)? Also, how many photographers were there on the trails, yet no links to their sites in the "goody" bag at the end. Any sites to the photographers' piccies? I'm quite vain y'see.
