Strange, I was only just thinking the other day, I seem to recall old men used to show their bald shins more than they do now. Trouser length evolution perhaps? Cause of problem must be a combination of natural hair loss and prolonged sock use.

Hope’s ceramic BBs last for years and years. Not tried their steel ones.

Apologies, misread the pricing info on their site. Same rear end as the Unveil and front end very similar apart from the shock mount being on the down, rather than top tube. 29 / 27.5 differences accounted for, both frames appear to follow the current Evo trend of long, low and slack. Good to see indie brands getting the most out of direct manufacturer relationships. Both frames appear to be excellent value for money.

Very similar looking frame to a Switchback Unveil, but at twice the price. £1,600 for an ally FS frameset seems to be the norm entry point nowadays.

Are pod machines just fancy Moka pots, squeezing coffee through pressurised water?

Ah, ok, didn’t realise that. Any idea what year they got fatter?

I’ve moved away from I-spec, as you can’t source older levers now. With lever fails fairly common at the moment, combined with the fact you have to buy new shifters to fit new levers, for that reason, I’m out.

Hit Smart Hub on your remote. Scroll left to Apps, then go into Samsung Apps and search for it in there.

Can’t see the Apps option on the scroll list, bugger.

Dumbass question, but how do you download the RedBull app to the TV?

Volume spacers – the tune you can do yourself, which Fox should have calibrated the shock with in the bloody first place. Christ, this industry does your nut in sometimes.

Yes, It looks to be the lever. Just swapped the rear caliper over to the front and fluid won’t pump through. Will order a lever off CRC and will at least have one for spares. Thanks all, this forum is legendary.

Or is the problem at the lever? In which case, you can get a replacement XT lever for £24. Just need to know which end to buy, caliper or lever!

Shimano don’t do repair kits but you can get an SLX caliper with pads for £21 from CRC. If fitting that and bleeding it, will lever return to normal position?

The wanting for me is part of why I love this sport. Weirdly, it can be a sort of stress reliever to turn my mind to thinking through upgrades and dreaming of new bikes. Sometimes that thinking just appreciates what I’ve got, but to constantly strive to make improvements to try and reach the ultimate bike for me is what keeps me hooked. That and thinking about when I’ll next ride the thing too!

What else does a custom tune involve other than fitting the right volume spacer and setting the air and rebound?

What’s the difference between a Thumper and an Unveil?

Nothing at all, apart from the colour/decals. I’ve got a Thumper and at the time, it was their white frame. Don’t care for the names as they aren’t known brands anyway, but graphics look a little more subtle on the Thumper. Not sure if there’s any left now though, as they’ve probably moved onto the latest Unveils by now.

I completely agree with all others above on this frame. It’s basically a Kona Satori with a Horst link. It’s bang up to date (bar internal cable routing) and its geometry is very much “evo”: long, low and slack (for a 29er).

A rear maxle and high-end shock are included in the price. If you opt for the Fox CTD shock, buy yourself some volume spacers as you’ll be blowing through its linear travel and having to overcompensate with air otherwise (unless you’re very ickle).

It’s a barnstormer of a ride, but you have to get it up to speed for it to really shine. But then that’s the whole point of buying a LT 29er right? To thrash the tits off it!

Love the title of the new release, There Are Too Many Of Us. About time someone got the message across. As long as the band haven’t collectively got a small army of offspring, good on them. Steps away awaiting the onslaught from this comment…

Evo geometry has made them look like 26ers, ie “normal” in our eyes. A 26er with evo (x. long, low, slack) looks weird.

What I would say with Pike’s or Rev’s is check the oil quantities & the foam rings after purchase

Duly noted, but I’ll be buying them from the very awesome J-TECH Suspension[/url]:

All forks purchased from J-TECH include FREE tuning! When you purchase any fork from J-TECH, it is stripped down, any assembly faults or sizing issues are sorted, then reassembled with top quality oils/greases and valved/sprung to suit you.

Great link, thanks z1ppy. Yes, thinking that the Pikes would be the best bet and have come down in price to fit my budget.

Yes, can’t decide on whether I want 32s or wider. Always had 32s on a 26er but a stiffer 34mm seems to make sense on a 29er.

What’s this business about offset? Never seemed to be talked about a couple of years ago.

True, split pin might be the solution, rather than having to replace a perfectly good brake otherwise.

Another vote for the Hammerhead, absolutely spot on geometry, it’s a scream of a bike, just takes everything in its stride. Kashima CTD shock, Maxle, just over £600, also one of the best looking bikes around, what’s not to like?

I’ve felt similar for a few months now. Going through a heavy planning phase at work, where I’m having to input lots but with no real outputs to show for it. The thing that keeps me going is knowing that every minute I devote to the inputs, it’s one step closer to seeing some exciting things happening down the line. Keep on keeping on is the only thing you can do!

Rode Cannock today and all was rideable and surprisingly grippy. Bit dicey over the Long Cliff side where the sun doesn’t hit the hillside.

IME, specific (and expensive) winter shoes never fully insulate or keep the water out. I’ve been wearing £40 AM45s this winter and so far, they’re beating my old Lakes hands down – warmest shoes I’ve ever worn. Just a bugger to walk in with no grippy sole.

Ah, gotcha. Even on the weakest setting, there’s no audible click or snap from it though when tightening bolts.
