Makes the blanket grey of England seem like a good option at the moment.

Jasper. Gone but never forgotten. Rescued from Dogs Trust and given ten amazing years with us. The worst bit about rescuing a dog is that you get a best friend for only part of your life. However, they get a best friend for all of their lives.

I’d have another 5 rescue dogs in a heartbeat, but life/work/suitable house means it just isn’t possible right now. Maybe again in the future…. ?

Another vote for Ben Macintyre. Just finished reading this.

Really, really, incredible stuff, although very sobering looking at the roll call at the end of the book.

In a nutshell, yes, buy it.

Fuji are making excellent cameras and first rate lenses theses days. Would quite happily part with my own cash for an XT-2.

Plenty of reviews and technical details online, so won’t go overboard on those.

FYI, if anyone wants one but is feeling a bit cash strapped, there are now plenty of second hand XT-1 cameras around for not a lot of cash. Look on places like mpb.com

A good friend works here http://www.alertacall.com/, which is similar to the service you’re already looking at.

Might be another option to have a look at or consider.

Been absent from this thread for a while, been away but been busy…

Lots more on my Instagram page as I don’t want to swamp the thread.

Love the shot of the wild horse John, that’s really fantastic.

Sweet. Did my first half this year as well.

http://www.lakelandtrails.org/marathon/ Came in at 1:55 with 1,467 ft of climbing, so not too shabby.

Come up North and do a proper Half Marathon in the Autumn

Today, the 6th of June is also the 73rd anniversary of D-Day.

I cannot begin to imagine the horrors that lay in wait for them on those beaches. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

On a similar topic, another trailer for the new Dunkirk film was released yesterday.

Feels like it could be a very difficult piece of cinema to watch at times.

Points to Lotsroad. It is a lovely building, and if anyone hasn’t been before it’s well worth a visit when you’re next in Manchester.

Welcome to the thread by the way. I’m slowly getting better at photography, despite working with cameras and camera equipment for 20 years ! This old dog is still trying to learn some new tricks.

Nothing to post at the moment as I’ve been a bit busy with other things, but finding some more time now, and I have a couple of trips planned, so I’ll be back later on with my efforts.

Have a look on Ebay for 2nd hand GoPros would be my suggestion. Plenty on there to choose from, but something like a Hero3+. This is a good one, although £50 over budget although, you do get a bunch of accessorises for it.

The next best option is something like a Gates underwater housing for a DSLR if you want something good quality, but that comes at a real prices, so not really feasible on the budget. As others have said, the biggest problem is going to be light, so a GoPro at lower depths is going to be a good bet.

Laithwaites. Always had good wine which works out at between £5-6 a bottle. Beats anything you can buy at a supermarket. Never had any annoying phone calls though. My old man buy from Naked Wines, and I’m not as much of a fan.

The next case is going to come from either The Whalley Wine Shop or D. Byrne & Co in Clitheroe

Spot trackers are a good option to really give an accurate position when you’re out in the boonies. Used by competitors in the Marathon De Sables and Tour Divide, so pretty well respected. At £100 not cheap but could be very useful.

or a cheaper wrist strap, which will probably be great for me, if out running on my own.

Really terrible news. Like many other people, I never knew or met Mike, but he was a real inspiration to me and many others. A normal guy who did really extra ordinary things. Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Mike
