it’ll make your bike more stable at speed but on fast twisty singletrack your bike may feel worse

cheers fellas, i forgot to say i wanted to keep to steel as i love the ride of it compared to aluminium

i also hate bikes with a high bottom bracket as you seem to sit ontop of the bike and not in it 🙄

i thought about the cotic but always thought it was very much the same as prince albert

ive gone back to a hardtail, prince albert btw. after years on full sussers and it is completly differant, you really do have to pick your line better and on some fast decents i find myself all most sat on the seat trying to keep my back end on the deck and stop it sqiurming, and my legs ache like mad …not sure its for me to be honest as it can be a bit rocky were i ride.

ive got a dialled bikes prince albert at the mo with 140mm revs on and its a bit of a bruiser, i think i prefare my old handjob with 120mm forks on, it just felt quicker more responsive.

ive just come back from a week up there and did the mbr and then the dragons back, would of done more but for horrible weather and a moaning wife, in the past i usually rode a 5″ full susser but its first time ive done it on a hardtail and my cove handjob with 130mm revs absolutly nailed it i really enjoyed it as its the forst time ive ridden a hardtail in anger in years

btw really enjoyed the false teeth bit

i would’nt use any brand of disc brake cleaner

a litre of Isopropyl alcohol from ebay will last years, rinse them with water after though as it does leave a unharmfull film.

ive even soaked contaminated pads in the stuff and its cleared them.

mine kicked off with a sore throat last week

i’m just going back to riding a hardtail full time after years on a full susser and only using a hardtail for local jaunts

i’m in the proccess of biulding up a cove handjob..so i’d be carefull of aluminium hardtails as i find them really harsh, if you can afford a steel frame they are miles better imho

spend as much as you can on the frame and forks as the rest is upgraded relativly cheaply

aksiums roll really heavy but are as hard as nails, fulcrums are probly better….imho i would’ny get either, i’d get a set handbiult from your local bike shop

i had an early gravity dropper and it was awefull, it was either sticking or dropping on its own, the tensioning nut was pain…fought with it for one ride at coedy brenin then went straight back to a qr

i got on with my qr15’s and found them a lot stiffer than standard qr, but not nearly as stiff as 20mm bolt through

when my dads dog was a pup she used to dig out a piece or strand of carpet from under the door plate. stand and look at you and as soon as you went to grab her she’d run off inravelling the carpet

just get out when you can and as often as you can, make you hard rides hard and your easy rides easy, recovery rides are as important as proper training rides

try and train with the blokes you going to be riding with it will bring you on no end

and when it comes to the big rides try and do them at your pace if poss

you need to push the pads further together…. back off all adjustments, take out the rear wheel and put a cd inbetween the pads and then press the lever a few times untill it bites, then loosen the caliper bolts, put the rear wheel back in pull the lever and tighten the bolts as you would in the first setup, you may then need to put a it more fluid in the resoviour and put an elasic band around you lever to depress it and leave overnight, check your fluid levels again, when you try it next time your brakes should bite sooner and feel solid. then you can start adjusting everything

this is what i do t my XT nd SLX brakes……..if i’m not expaining this well enough mail me.

ooops sorry i must of read it wrong………thats with the wife pestering me….

i’d just pull the lever in a bit with the big ugly nut on the end, you should still get loads of modulation even when tight though

maybe try pushing the pads apart?
