Yeah too late for that though! It was white, blue or red and my waterproof is red, got a blue mid layer already so thought I’d go for the white! Tbh mud etc washes out ok, just have to remember to keep away from the greasy jobs in it!

I too have a Gore Oxygen SO which I absolutely love, comfort, fit, performance etc is IMO outstanding.
The only thing I might possibly change is the fact that I went for a white one which I still think looks great but is a bugger to keep clean and so was just wondering what people use to wash the windstopper shell without damaging/affecting performance? Doesn’t really say much on the label other than to wash at no more than 40degrees which I’ve been doing but not sure if I should be doing something else instead?
    Any advice greatly appreciated!

One of my all time fav rides – shame it’s a 10hr drive to get there!

Never had a problem riding alone at night as long as most of the above advice is followed. That is until Thursday nights outing…………
Rewind a week or so and MrsTH had been out walking with a friend and when she came home told me that as they came down a hill towards the road, they saw a large black creature running across the field, over the road and disappearing into trees on t’other side.
“Black with a tail?” says I – “must of been a cat.”
“Much too big for a cat ” says she “and too fast”
    “Was a dog then”
    “Bigger than a dog too”
“Sounds like a sheep then” I said laughing and didnt give it another thought, UNTIL I found myself coming down the very track of the alleged sighting where it popped into my head like a light bulb going on!
Now I like to think I’m pretty level headed and rational (most) of the time but eff me if I didn’t cack me lycras and pedal like the hounds of hell were after me! (Which they could’ve well been as I didn’t dare look behind me!)
Might do some different tracks for a few weeks

Always found it to be one of the wettest rides – even when it doesn’t seemed to of rained much, maybe keep on going and try the Marin?

Really, really sad news, a tragic waste of a life with such a bright career. Thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Was thinking of Coed Y Brenin myself tomorrow, be interested to hear if anyone’s been up today. The Marin seems to stay a bit drier usually so might try there instead….

Op that’s exactly my situation, work is mental at the moment and after 11hr days I just can’t face dragging my arse out into the wet and cold. I do feel slightly guilty like I “should” be out riding and not slobbing on the sofa (as I type!) last ride was a week last Sunday and am hoping to make it out this weekend.

Yeah your right there Rob, I guess what I really meant was “I’m more than happy with the light I’ve had for my money and couldn’t see myself ever paying more.” However I suppose if I took out a £4-500 3k lumen super light my opinion may well change!

After a quick head count in the garage, 3 Charge spoons and 2 flites. The flites are knocking on these days – charge spoon is definitely my “perch” of choice these days

1 more for vaults. Recently switched to a set of these after 15+ years of spds and it still feels like I’m clipped in there’s that much grip! As mentioned above there’s cheaper options but i do believe you get what you pay for.

Nickjb – that’s sort of along the lines I was thinking, was thinking of the reverb as they seem to get the best write ups, not adverse to considering other options though, anyone tried the Fix doss?

Gazc & Househusband, thanks for the heads up, never heard of the Geax Datura before but @ £15 delivered I’ve just ordered 1 now! Was running RQ’s f&r and can’t speak highly enough of them, was gonna try swapping the front for a Baron over the winter tho as I’ve heard great things about them, I’ll give this Geax a try and see how I get on, the Baron can wait for spring now (that sounds a long way off!)

Click – liked! Remember his death like it was last week not nearly 20yrs ago!! As mentioned above Dirt was one of my favourite bike vids and along with chain reaction and mud cows etc is the reason there’s still a vhs under my tv! Mate of mine even has JMC’s tattoo on his neck in tribute! RIP Jase.

I live in Llangollen and would be happy to show you some great natural, technical stuff or I would be if I hadn’t come off and hit a tree last week on the Marin! Doc says gotta rest my wrist 4a couple of weeks but it’s still tempting as doesn’t seem too bad! Would be happy to show you around another time!

Was thinking of heading up the road to either CYB or the Marin but depending on t’weather might just do a local loop (Llangollen)

Had never thought about how putting my rides on strava may be advertising them to the ever increasing amount of thieving scum that seem to be operating around here ( and everywhere else by the look of it!) have now deleted my ride history and changed my settings to hide where my rides start and finish from home, thanks to monsteryeti for the heads up on that 1!
