Llandegla is my local trail centre (about 10 min away!) so was thinking of something a bit different.
Any tips on finding the good stuff at Delamere Tom?

Wow! Thanks for the (conflicting!) advice, as I said, I’m happy to sift through the shit advice from the likes of halfords as I’m confident I know more than the spotty little oiks! Just wanted to get a feel for the direction I should be looking.
SH Isn’t a prob as do 99% of my own maintenance and I’m sure there’s sum cracking buys out there. Think I’ll take him for a nose down halfords and check out some boardmans, and keep an eye on the classifieds on here and pink bike etc. cheers for the link captain, I’ll check those out 2.

+1 for using a local independent travel agent. After building our own holidays for the last 7years or so – flights, hotels, transfers etc and getting thoroughly hacked off with spending weeks worth of evenings searching for the best/cheapest deals and then having charge upon hidden charge added on, this year we decided to go to the travel agents. 3/4 of an hour and 2 cups of tea later our holiday was booked with sound advice and at a price at least as cheap as I could of found it on t’internet.
Definitely the only way I’ll be booking from now on.

AlexSimon – I one of those buried at the bottom of my shed, it’s my “I’m gonna get round to a full period build retro bike 1day” bike. Be nice if it turned out like that one!
My biggest regret was my Pace RC100 – have an RC200 built up with a mish mash of parts now but just doesn’t feel as special as the 1st did though.

Hmmm interesting, I’d thought the Baron would be a slightly more aggressive option for all round conditions with slightly more volume but perhaps I’d be better sticking with what I know and putting a 2.4 rubber queen on the front with the 2.2 on the rear……
    Thanks for the advice Robin

    Spot on that Kayak23!
Love my 2.2 RQ’s in 99% of conditions although have been running a Geax Dactura on the back this winter and have to say I’ve been pretty impressed. Now trying to track down a 2.3 Baron UST for the coming (supposedly!) drier months, but just can’t find 1 anywhere??

Llandegla is what you’d call my “local” trail centre – I can throw the bike in the van and be there in 15 min or ride from my door and incorporate it in to a big natural ride. In my opinion people are a bit too blasé about trail centres: Yes come the weekend they can be full of pretty much all your stw stereotypes, frm the middle aged, slightly overweight, Audi driving, full carbon riding gentleman to the full faced, armoured up,triple clamp owning free riding gnar shredders and everything in between. Llandegla, like most trail centres gets pretty choked up on a weekend but with good reason – for people living in the likes of Liverpool/ the Wirral/ Cheshire etc its prob the nearest of its type, allowing them to just turn up and head straight out onto trails that they know are going to give them a fun day out with all the facilities to make a day of it (cafe, shop, showers, bike wash etc)
For some who may not be so lucky as to live close to good natural terrain, these trail centres provide a great service and although many people slate them for the sanitised trails and congested nature (especially at the weekend) I think we’re lucky to have them and my biggest hate is the people who park at the bottom of the road and are happy to make use of the extremely hard graft that has gone into building and maintaining the trails but don’t feel they should have to pay the £4 odd that provides these trails. Sorry 2 waffle on but just wanted to say my piece. (1 too many wainwrights might not have helped!)
Anyway, OP – llandeglas got some fast fun trails but will be pretty wet and congested this wkend!
    Over and out!

Singletrack and dirt for me + all the online stuff. Sometimes have a flick through the other usual suspects in tesco, always seems to be the same old stuff and quite often exactly the same reviews in at least two of them (aren’t a couple of them “sister mags” or whatever the eck that means?)
However I did find a copy of mbuk from 1989 at my mum and dads recently which made me smile- was gutted when I found out they’d thrown about 12 years worth of assorted mbuk’s, mbi’s and mtb pro’s from about 88 – 2000 🙁

Spooky – I was just about to put a momentary lapse of reason too – I also really like the division bell as well.
Pulse and delicate sound of thunder are cracking live albums too.

I have a set of 2009/10 crossmax st’s – they’re 9mm QR, reading this, does this mean I can swap the hubs to 15/20mm thru axle?

If you think the maverick forks/wheel are putting people off I’d be interested in swapping them for my Magura Menjas and mavic X717 on XT hub?
Been after a set for my ML7 for a while now.

Twaddle. Had a shimano braze on road FD (cant remember the model) on my old maverick ml7 and had years of faultless shifting.
