A friend of mine got done. Took him years to pay off the amount he owed. He’s the only one I heard of though.

I snapped my pop lock lever off the bars with a tap from my knee. Didn’t hurt. Poplock are rubbish. To be honest I don’t miss it.

interesting but the roundworm eggs which cause toxocariasis are killed by UV and can survive for several months in the environment, which I imagine is what your bags shield it from,

Bag it and bin it, no excuses

Most folk look after their dog’s health to control worm infestations but sadly but there are 10-20 cases of permanent child blindness in the UK every year caused by ingesting worm-infected dogsh*t. This is Toxocara Canis, as above. All due to lazy selfish ignorant behaviour by a few dog owners. It’s not just about the foul smell.

    PI was better.

its a way to waste 2 hours of your life earning brownie points with the GF, so later on she noshes you off whilst you think about mila kunis.

She was both swans in the ballet, but also in real life. Shocker.

forum gold? head in hands moment.

how on earth do you seize a front mech?
what part of a leaking fork seal is a ride ruining disaster?
brakes do bleed properly – operator error.

bearings – sounds like you are washing your bike to death. clean the chain with a chain cleaner in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, then wipe the dirt off the rest of the bike with a cloth, and that’s you done.

I think it’s the hint that I might somehow be “unlucky” if I don’t buy it that annoys me

What Ben says, all of it.

But yeah, if you are suffering from anxiety you may be able to fall asleep but you won’t sleep for long and may have trouble getting back to sleep. About ten years ago I went through a phase of falling asleep totally knackered about midnight and waking up about 1 or 2am with my heart racing and that was me until the morning. Lasted about a month. Harsh.

@OP – from what you say it sounds like she was having doubts for some time but was too weak/kind/cared for you too much to actually do the deed. She has now done you a favour by ending it and won’t be wasting any more of your time.

To be fair if that had happened to anyone on here’s bike, never mind an Intense 6.6 that they were taking the effort to rebuild, they would be going mental. So give the guy a break. Second post so what?

so 90 deaths a year from vCJD compared to

No, 90 a year from CJD not vCJD. CJD has always been around. vCJD is the one allegedly from contaminated meat products/BSE, afaik.

About 1 a year from vCJD.

    XT is noticably stiffer

Deus is almost like riding a 2.5 tyre Vs a 2.0, there’s a lot of give in those arms! It’s not noticable in use, but back to back you notice it.

    You’re joking!

I was surprised to find that Love Shack by the B52s is generally regarded as one of the best produced pop music records of all time and as such offers a good baseline for testing equipment – dynamic range, clarity etc etc, if you will be listening to pop on it that is.

You work for a big company don’t you? They must have some sort of Employee Assistance Programme. Use that to cover the costs.

Ahem. I don’t think getting guttered with Mark and Adam in the Tap and Barrel counts as employee assistance, excellent men though they both are, holders of drink, and fun to boot.

Getting it more out in the open by posting one here is actually probably a good start. If you are ready to do that then you might well be closer to getting through it than you think. Not suggesting that this is a breakdown but the phrase “a breakdown is often a breakthrough” is true and perhaps substituting something less stigmatised for the word breakdown, such as “period of emotional instability” would help in accepting this truth. I say go for it mate. Let it all blow. You won’t find support lacking in the nice people around you and you will get past this.

As for counselling, well, it costs and the cheap ones are rarely any good and generally fall into the category of ‘hand holding’ (for which there is a time and place obviously). Personally I always say go for the most expensive one you can find, that will give you motivation to get the most out of the sessions. But hey, that’s just my own perspective. I think parallels with physical complaints are useful in that if you poked your eye out you wouldn’t want it fixing by a cheap general doctor. You’d want, and pay for, the best. Same difference with your head my friend.

    Everything will be alright :-)

I must admit I find at blows through the travel a bit quick sometimes, despite care with setup, I’m 81kg. I was thinking of upgrading the shock to the new Boost Valve version, the correctly tuned one from Yeti of course, but then we are looking at spending £800 for a bike that is really a novelty, rather than maybe making a few quid for selling it. Hard to let it go though to be honest, such a beautiful frame.

I think Sealskinz are rubbish. My feet get colder in them than anything else. I have a pair to give away if anyone wants them for the price of the postage or free to collect in Edinburgh. I find wool socks and an unrestrictive shoe + wet feet is fine. If you really must have warm feet do what we used to do ‘back in the day’ and wear wetsuit socks, and fill them with water before you go riding. Problem solved.
