Due to a change in circumstances we managed to get in one last ride with Abigale before she goes back to NZ

Decided on Cutgate and it was great to be chasing her out and back

It was dry and dusty when we rode it last June.

Only thing it’s had are tyres, pads and a chain. 🤞

Done both in the last couple of weeks and they are both running good.

Cutgate from Langsett is the way we do it due to that end been nearer.

Other to consider is Wharncliffe. Daughter has been a few times recently, including today, whilst home from NZ and says it’s still as good as she remembers it.

I’m a big fan of if it works and I’m happy with it is with sticking with what I’ve had.

Been running Saints on most of the bikes and can’t fault them. Code RSCs came on the Levo and tried them before swapping out and they are still on 2 years later, cant fault them.

Got a set of MT7s on one bike and no matter what’s been done they don’t seem as powerful as the others

Usually let 18 Bikes send ours off. Think they use Slick and Slide. Called in at the weekend and it seems they will be doing Fox servicing in house going forward.

Going to drop the Levo in after the Alps for them to do the 38s

We are out in the Peak for the weekend. Few riders out and quite a few walkers. Everyone seemed happy and chatty. Must be down to the good weather.

Probably the last weekend riding we will get before we are back to Verbier for Kevin to face his demons. It’s been a hard year and he’s still not fully recovered so we will have to take the Alps day by day

Have a look at Evans for the Five Ten Kestrel. Our daughter have raced with the Boa for years and rides daily in hers.

She’s over from NZ for a month and has ordered some more to take back with her. She’s a size 5 but goes up half a size in them

I tried a 2.3 Galfer in the Alps for 1 run on my Enduro fitted with Saints. Swapped the front wheel out for one that we are running MT7s on

Pads were almost new but wheel was too tight to spin freely.

Always use the Tunnel and Tesco Clubcard Vouchers. Both this years trips in the camper were booked and paid for when it was a 3 for 1. We also swapped at the same time last year for next years June trip. The vouchers need to be used before the 12th June so as the June/July dates aren’t out yet will need to book alternative dates to use the voucher and then amend the booking once the dates are available.

The 2 for 1 offer isn’t as attractive but still makes it a worthwhile saving on a European holiday

When Abigale flew out last year Air Canada were by far the cheapest overall including taking  bikes, flying via Vancouver . Think she paid £69 per bike for it.

She is back home for a month but has left the bikes in NZ so don’t have any latest info.

    Great write up.

I think it might be the right decision regarding the events, Its not only hard on the driver if no one is sharing but still takes it out on the passengers. If it was me I would spend the extra time and go out to Champery a few days early.

We once did a back to back races with Abigale and the EWS events in Ainsa and Finale. 2700 mile round trip. Finale was the last round of the season and Abigale came back to the van at 6.00am Monday morning after the afterparty. She had to be in Uni next day. We got back in time but wouldn’t want to do it again

Eldest daughter had them. A 50 50 mixture of white vinegar and water in a garden spray sorted it. Took a few days of re spraying but they never came back.

All ours are run in the low and slack with 30% sag. It’s not a long job to swap the headset cup out and the ones at the rear you could do trail side to try.

What rear shock have you got and how much sag are you running.

Abigale is back from NZ for a month and this is the first time we have ridden together in over a year.

Sun was out so it was an early start and up into the East Peak. A  pootle over Blacca Moor, playing in Blacca Woods, up for a blast on Lady Cannings and back via Houndskirk.

If the shock is set up correct have you checked that the frame is set up in the same settings

Head tube angle sits at 64.5 degrees but can be made either a full degree slacker or steeper by swapping the headset cups, or can be modified ½ degree by using the geo flip chip in the Horst Link. This smaller adjustment will also adjust bottom bracket height by 7mm

    That’s what I was thinking.

I crashed and damaged my bars. Phoned the bike shop on Tuesday, followed it up as requested with photos in an email. Call back from bike shop later in the day saying new bars could be provided under the crash replacement scheme and are on the way from Specialized.

We have done it with two identical bikes. In the UK,  Alps, Lake Garda and Finale. One set up 27.5 and the other 29. Swapping riders between bikes. The red one was always faster. The blue one was more flickable. Mullet didnt feel right.

Most workshops I use have a tip jar.  I think a good job should show some appreciation regardless of what they get paid.

If I’m passing at any time I will drop in cake and sweets.

I also tend to have some jobs done that I could do myself as if we don’t support them we may loose them

Rider is I only use ones I can trust.

We had an Ebike delivered to us as the timings meant that we couldn’t meet up.  The sender used bikedelivery.co.uk who he had used before. Everything went smooth and was delivered on time.

I went to a local tyre place and bought a connector from them for a couple of pounds. It clips onto the push on adaptor easy and has no problem with bike or car valves.

No difference for me, same clothing whatever the bike.

Can’t say I take much notice when out on the trails what others are wearing
