There was a bit of info on Ride Sheffield Instagram about it

Sorry Matt. They are probably the only forks we have never had

All our Specialized bikes have come with tokens in a bag.

Which ones do you need and I can get the fork spares box out and see if we have some

I’ve been using a Syncros digital for years. Not the cheapest but easy to use and durable.

This is our policy wording I’ve put In  bold the bit we believed applied to us and we adhered however they disagreed. Not what you want to hear when you have a big bill that needs paying

    24-hour emergency medical service
Please tell us immediately about any serious illness or accident abroad where you have to go into hospital or you may have to return home early or extend your stay because of any illness or injury. If you are unable to do this because the condition is life, limb, sight or organ threatening, you should contact us as soon as you can. You must also tell us if your medical expenses are over £500. If you are claiming for a
minor illness or accident you should, where possible, pay the costs initially and reclaim the money from us later. You can call 24 hours a day
365 days a year or email..

    Note
Failure to contact the medical emergency assistance service may result in your claim being reduced or declined

Thanks we looked into it however couldn’t get an answer as to what they consider an emergency as their info says they only pay out Eur 750 if you don’t contact them first.

In addition if you do have a problem or complaint I don’t think the Ombudsman can be used for an insurance policy that’s not purchased from a UK company so in the end we ruled them out

The  main problem when you want to make a claim isn’t the company you have taken the policy out with or the company that’s underwriting it. It’s the claim management companies who try every way to wangle out of the claim.

Unfortunately most of them use CSA.  I’ve looked at most of the policy wordings for incase of emergency and what you need to do in the event of one and the wording is the same as ours. We have an annual policy with Yellow Jersey.

Last year Kevin had to be rescued by helicopter after an incident whilst we were in the Alps. We didn’t call the helicopter. It was determined on site that it was the only safe way to get him rescued from where he had landed and the nature of his injuries

However according  to CSA we should have had prior authorisation before he allowed them to do this. We thought we had followed the policy wording by informing then ASAP after the event. They disagreed

We complained and eventually they paid  helicopter rescue bill even though they knocked back our complaint. Eventually the underwriters agreed and upheld our complaint and that we had followed and interpreted the policy wording correctly

We have tried to find an insurer this year that gives the level of cover required that does not use CSA but as of yet can’t find one.

    Oh no that’s not good.

Abigale cut her teeth in Enduro competing on a regular basis as a teenager from 2015. At that time there was quite a lot of young talent pushing each other on and it was the step they needed to compete in the EWS.

They never forgot the grass roots and it was good that they gave back to it when ever they could

It’s going to be hard to replace it, if ever it an be.

Thanks Kev and the volunteers for all you’ve given to the sport over the years

Canazei is good for a few days. The old EWS trails are good as some of the other stuff in the area.

We enjoyed Livigno. Well worth a few days but it’s a pain to get to with a big van

Another option is to head a bit further south to Lake Garda. Loads of good riding g in the hills above Torbole

You will be fine assuming the upper snow has melted.

Have you decided on the bike yet

Kevin had the Stumpy Evo in his basket whilst we were there just in case he didn’t like his new Enduro but by the time we had left he had decided its a keeper

Mines still working and we used it in Verbier a couple of weeks ago.

It says it will retire on 1st Oct 24 when I log in which is a shame as it was useful

The OneUp what came on a 2023 Enduro Expert. Our Manic posts came with Command post levers with the bikes.

    Tracey

We have one on the latest Enduro. All our others are either Reverb AXS or Specialized Command levers.

Both are by far better than the OneUp. It just feels flimsy and has to much of a reach on it

It’s been used for 2 weeks in the Alps but the lever will be swapped out once we get round to it.

Probably just preference. Might even swap the post out for the spare Manic one

Specialized Ground Control or Purgatory in the Grid versions would be my preference. Both can be had in the sales for around £18 a tyre

A bit too heavy to take on the bike but bought one yesterday to put in the camper for general duties

    https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/parkside-bike-tool-kit-41-piece-set/p10015688

Worth its weight in gold today as we needed to restring the fly screen on the habitation door.

The ratchet was the only tool that would go behind the ledges to remove and replace 14 screws

We have put it on our agenda for next years Alps trip. Was going to add it to the front of our Finale trip at the end of September but not sure if the lifts are running.

The course map is available to download for future reference but I can’t get it to save

    Looks good

We had black 8 in perfect conditions last week. Last run of our days was chasing each other down Rock N’Arolles into Black 8

    Hope you enjoy it

Its been moved to Sunday to be run alongside the E bike race due to predicted storms arriving

I’ve managed to spectate at quite a lot of the EWS races when my daughter was competing pre COVID and if you pick the right spots and can get between the stages then its exciting to watch

I think without doubt been at the side of the track near the end of DH Men stage in the Trophy of Nations and seeing the team riders on each others wheels flying down the rocks in unison takes some beating

    @colp

Oh dear that’s not a good start to the trip.

Can he get sorted out. Can he claim on the holiday insurance or is the bike insured separate.

When Abigale was at Hallam our house insurance still covered her bikes away from home.

Thankfully she never had to use it

My personal choice would be AXS if it came with it however

Looks like it may be the alloy option

Recommending what we have had for 6 years. LWB Tourneo Custom. We removed the double 3rd row seats from day one. That gave us 2 singles in front, a double and single in the second row ans a single in the third row. Most of the time the double is folded forward which allows for 4 29ers with wheels on in the back with room for 4 and loads of kit. If we need more seats it’s a pull on 2 levers and we are back to 6.

Youngest daughter has been all over the Alps with all the rear seats removed. A double mattress in the back and 2 bikes behind the front seats with loads of room spare to live in.

You could have 2 kids in the outer seats of the second row and one in the single third row which would keep them apart.

We have just got back from touring the Alps and found that as long as you use the big chain supermarkets then prices worked out cheaper than in the UK for most things

Fuel is definably dearer than in the UK. especially if you fill up in the toll services. Both Switzerland and Italy were cheaper than France.

Tesco just of the M20 is the last stop for cheap fuel before the Tunnel so we fill up on the way out and again back

Food prices in restaurants is comparable to UK however its the beer prices in bars that’s the stinger. We were chatting to a guy in Tignes Le Lac who had just paid 14 Euros for a larger.

We found a SPAR in Tignes 1800 on the way back to the campsite that didn’t have a drink licence however they had a beer garden and allowed you to use it for stuff purchased in the shop so local beer was 2 Euros. Great idea but made the last run down to the van interesting after a few

I have a 29 Enduro and the latest Turbo Levo which is MX as do others in the family. Cant say I’ve noticed the difference once out on the trails. I’m of the opinion that for most riders its just the industry hype to get us to buy something.

We have just left after a week there as our last leg of our Alps trip

We didn’t use a guide as we found enough on trailforks and Cartes ING and chatting to the locals to fill our days

I did notice that Gravity Lab  have all day Enduro tours but didn’t look into what it entailed
