Nothing wrong with knives in the drawer out of the way. Cant see the point cluttering up the work tops with blocks or walls with hanging strips ?

For me it would probably be a Stumperjumper Evo Expert which depending on size can still be picked up at a bargain price.

Last couple of bikes have been purchased after great days out in the Alps whilst browsing in the evening

Second hand Turbo Levo off Pinkbike whist sat outside the van in Pila and a Enduro that Evans was shifting at 50% discount that was still in the basket next morning after a late night session in Interlaken.

Kevin got badly injured the next day and so the Enduro didn’t get ridden till this year’s trip. He had a Stumpy Evo in his basket for the first week just in case he didn’t get on with the Enduro but by the end of the holiday had decided its a keeper.

I suppose you have to decide taking into account what your riding at the moment

As said above, we thought we had everything covered, roller door, alarm, CCTV and ground anchors. we also had the car in the garage which occasionally used.

We were clocked unloading after our Alps trip and knew we had. All the bikes were padlocked at the back of the garage apart from two which needed repairs and we had planned to do them the following night.

The following day I took the car out of the garage and went to fill up with petrol. In that short period of time they came and broke in whilst daughter was still in the house and took the two bikes that weren’t locked to the ground anchors.

The alarms dint stop them nor did our neighbours who came out. Please couldn’t act on external CCTV footage.

Everything now has been upgraded and extra security put in, including security shutters. If they want to get in they will its just a case of having enough physical security in place to try and hinder them.

Not an expert but we stayed in Torbole a couple of years ago

Used Velolake for an uplift first thing and then a mixture of the trails they have put on Komoot and linking some Trailforks stuff up

Did some epic alldayers but the heat and the climbing between the trails was hard work

No it just protects it from dirt. My XX1 axs didn’t come with one. X01 and GX did

They are good. I have both and they are cooler in the summer than my trailcross. I also think they grip better

Fly sceen cables  on camper door broke last summer on our way back from the alps. I already had an injured rider with me so duct taped it open. Managed to do a running repair before we went this year and it lasted till the last day. Duct tape again til it went for its habitational check. Dealer said it couldnt be repaired and a new one was £1500 plus vat plus fitting. Couldnt find any thing on YouTube to help but bought some cord and with loads of photos as it was been dismantled and using three of the cords that hadnt broken to measure for length we replaced all the 6. 2 1/2 hours after starting and a bit of readjusting for tension and it’s  just like new

I have a list and asked if they wanted it. Didn’t need it but they ask what the price of the dearest bke would be on a new for old basis.

They were extremely helpful on the phone

Looks like the guys on the boarders are getting a bit more strict on what they used to just wave through.

We got stopped at the tunnel on the way back in July. First for the drugs smear which we have had before and secondly for a big inspection of which the looked in everywhere inside and outside the camper. Every drawer and cupboard was gone through. They checked the garage from both sides and from inside by lifting the bed. One wanted the garage fully empty but his mate stopped him whilst we were unlocking the bikes.

It looked like they were pulling most UK reg vans with the queues that were building up.

    Enjoy the hills

After years with M and S we spent the last eight years with Pedalcover. Due to the four of us in the family we needed quite a bit of cover for the fleet

March this year an the renewal premium went up by more than £1000. Was told it was due to change of underwriters.Got a quote from M and S over the phone and discussed the bikes in detail as above only had to specify dearest bike up to 15k. Saved the £1000 and another £800 cheaper than last years premium

Daughter asked us to swap her Fiat 500 for a Tourneo Connect as she was finding it hard to sleep in with a bike. She was 18. All her riding mates think it’s cool

She is doing all her spannering out in NZ apart from forks, shock and post servicing as the prices to use the bike shops are very high. Bit different to having it fettled for her when she was at home.

Wont be long before he can drive and disappear to the Alps for the summer with his mates

Glad he is having a good time. Its all about the fun.

Might be a good idea to get him some work experience with a local bike shop. Abigale did a couple of stints in different ones and its paid off big time for when her dad wasn’t about

We have tried every make of pad and compound  out there with her racing including Galfer Green  and she still prefers the Race Matrix. I suppose its all down to preferred choice, bit like tyres. When she went back to NZ she took all our Saint ones back with her so should see her through to when she returns.

Really feel for them. Got to be targeted

We were targeted a few years ago. Got away with 2 S Works. Did it whilst daughter was still in the house and the alarm was going off.

Had them on cctv but couldn’t be proved and they kept comming back as they had seen the rest of the bikes.

Eventually police were present on one occasion and after a quiet word we never saw them again

Daughter has never got over it. It took a few years before she would stay in by herself

Got a 2015 stumpjumper Evo. Had it from new. It’s still on its original PF30 bottom bracket. Gets used all year round mainly in the Peak

Transit Centre was £1200. Cheapest quote I could get local was £999 but that was without changing oil and filter

Had the belt done on our Tourneo Custom last week as Ford have fetched the interval forward from 10 years to 6 years. When I asked after it had been done about its condition I was told the old one was still in good condition. Not a cheap job.

Daughters Tourneo Connect has the 150hp1.6 Ecoboost petrol engine which I think has a normal belt.

I’ve XX1 on new bikes but all the others are running X01. Apart from the colour I can’t see the difference in how long they last. In my opinion it isn’t wort the extra.

    Get ours from here

I have both the Select + and the Ultimates both set up the same and it’s hard to tell the difference on the trail. You could upgrade the damper but in my opinion it’s a big expense for not much gain

When did they have a service

Keep an eye out on ebay for used ones comming up or ones where the metal has been damaged

We had one replaced as it had warped at one end due to heat damage in the wild fires a couple of years ago

Everything else was very good but it wouldn’t close In at the front end. I think it was sold on for spares or repair

We may have  just got a bad set.

Tried every make of pad on the market including Magura and Galfer green and now running Galfer rotors 223 on the front and 203 on the rear.

I’m not saying they aren’t powerful but compared to all our other brakes they aren’t anywhere near as good. It’s even more noticeable in the Alps where it’s steeper

We are running Saints, Code RSCs, Guide REs, Magura MT7s and a XTR Saint combo between the 4 of us

In order of my preference the Saints come out on top

RSCs and REs are a close second and I wouldn’t pay the extra to swap

We have MT7s on one bike. Been on from new and 2 years in they are by far the worst of what we have. They just lack power

Magura have had a go at them as have the local shop on a few occasions. If they were on my bike they would have been of after Magura tried  I don’t know why he perseveres with them. Next step is Oak Component levers. If they don’t work then it will be the spare RSCs

We have big pin boards in the garage and still ran out of space.

When she came home a few weeks ago she was working in the garage with her dad setting up his bike for our Alps trip and they were reminiscing about the races from the number boards. Every one has a memory.

DT Swiss EX 511 32 hole rims on 350 or Hope hubs would be my alloy choice of wheel

Have a look at Fitwheels ebay site. There build is good as is the prices and there are loads of combinations to chose from

My impulse spending has certainly dropped off since the thread went to a sticky at the top of the page.

Much preferred it when it was a single thread with the PSA in the title. If I was interested then I could click and hopefully there would be a link to click on.

Might be worth while removing the PSA if there isn’t a link attached
