This is all very well, and I am chuffed that STW staff keep growing, but does the PHP fu have anything to do with Fresh Goods?
It’s Friday, look at the time!!!

No, not better off, in real terms, actual terms or theoretical terms. MsTPT opting to reduce working hours from April.
I am lucky enough to have a 2% pay rise and some pension fund catch up after swear word years of freeze. There will be no catch up on the co’s contribution.
But hey, we are still here and employed so it must be ok. SWEAR WORDS!

Dick and Dom on the TV used to sneak stickers onto unsuspecting people in shopping areas and such, moving up in size. Maybe you could try this. Those green P’s that newly qualified drivers have? See if you can get to A3.

Four person payroll here, me and one other bought bikes in the last 18 months on company credit card and salary sacrificed the payments over 12 months. Easily done, though I do have a minor worry about the value to be written off. Realistically it is a negligible amount and not been challenged by auditors.

    Malt loaf and peanut butter.
There’s a super sized Soreen one for £1 available at the moment but I have had Morrison’s basic 29p ones in the past.
Or porridge, but you need golden syrup as well.

Good luck. Only 1300 cal intake is a huge crash I would guess from previous levels.
There must be a fat club coming along soon on STW to measure up against?

Ebuyer will have laptops under that price. Decent kit and reasonable power.
Morgan Computer has cheaper, possibly reconditioned ones, my daughter got a netbook from them, all good.
EuroPC have refurbished Dell, not sure about their reputation.

The CTC magazine had something on electric cycles recently, may be on their website.
Edinburgh Bike Co-op stock some, send them along there.
Helen Pidd reviewed the Tesco £500 folding electric bike in the Grauniad last Saturday – heavy and cheap short cuts, to summarise.

I have emailed the Guardian consumer section with a link to this thread and asked if they have heard of similar things outside the cycling niche.

Profiting from theft, sorry confiscation, Royal Mail seem like pirates, well privateers if they are keeping the Royal part of their name.

    I too signed up initially.
It’ll be ok, there is plenty of road and much fewer portaloos. But maybe Bradley will ask you to hold his bike while he pops into one!

Why are they tampering with packages to start a fight? Seems like the brave new privatised service has greater liability issues/awareness than before.

Marathon plus on the back for me also, Heeley to Chapeltown, a replacement for a “CST 700 x 32 Kevlar Inside” shredded after nine months. Not looked at the rear since, no problems.

Front tyre ok though I have picked out the glass and metal last week after my first puncture at the front. Got a Marathon plus on my Xmas wish list for the front too.

Sheffield: black wheelie bin for the incinerator/energy from waste plant. Blue wheelie bin and blue box for paper/card or plastics/metal/glass, optional which you choose for your waste. Posh parts of town, I hear, have a green bin for compost.

Glass sorting is being done so well now that mixed colours are no longer a problem. There is even a new preference for leaving caps on glass bottles so the metal can contribute to the payback from the sorting equipment.

Plastic has had massive investment in displacing metal and glass packaging but keeps failing to put up the money needed to be as recyclable. Who can tell their PP from HDPE and all the colours (transparent and opaque) it can be made in? May as well just burn it and harvest the energy.

Set off this morning thinking I may just get the train rather than cycling all the way to work. Felt good as I rolled past the station and kept going.
    Ten miles rather than two.

Jeez BristolB, 5000 km on a bike that is lumpen and uninspiring, that’s a lot of miles of pain and punishment. I had looked with great interest at the hub geared On-One bikes at the shop when looking for a Cycle to Work scheme Courier Nexus replacement.

A Buff like dress for Ms TPT, some production delays, ok in the end.

Ms TPT has a Sony Experia Tipo(?) cost £60 PAYG at the start of the year but very poor screen and speed and internet slow.

Work for Third sector rather than LA? Pretty insecure work if there are only short term contracts but some charities get longer running contracts. Local housing charities, hospices, homeless, that sort of thing.
My wife in similar situation, shocking cuts going on, management unsupportive or helpless under their own pressures.
It is amazing how much of society is being dismantled without protest. We all seem to be in our own “thank god it’s not us” shell.

Zurich all over the place advertising on backs of buses all the way up to supporting the Champions League. This example of their intransigence certainly paints them in a poor light.
Do they sanction all their drivers to hit and run? Thought they had specific instructions about giving out details to the drivers they insure whether 50/50 or any other balance. Policy holder clearly was not in compliance.

Sheffield has this bubble of tradition where bidding is acceptable if there is more than one interested party. Possibly like the Scottish model?
So you can try to be nice to the vendor. May not swing it.

OP Good luck with finding a new doctor. It is a great shame that a professional built up a good relationship with you but could not themselves realise that it is good manners to let you know they have moved to pastures new.
From now on I guess you have to include a new set of criteria when arranging your travel: is the Doctor available who I have an appointment to see?
This is a general trend in communications and cuts in organisations. You have to be your own secretary because the people you need to see do not have their own or numbers have been cut back to such an extent that they never get round to the simplest most obvious tasks. Outsourcing extreme!
