Anyone been handed a FPN for riding “cheeky” trails? Did you ride at night? How did you feel about it – fair cop guv or miserable plod? Did you have a Surly hip flask? Did you have the latest TROUT Photon Torpedoes? 😉

As it happens, I’ll be looking to down-size the Mongdeo estate in the next couple of months. Looking at the usual STW, estate, culprits –
    A4
    Octavia
    Also considering –
    Golf Estate
    Yeti (?!!)
    Any other suggestions?
The main thing is that it’ll have to tow a c***van. 8)

Mrs K hates carpet, and stormed off to bed at 8pm last night when I suggested it…

Ah, still remembers the carpet burns, then…. 😉

No doubt that he was in the wrong …………..but what should be asked here is, was the police action “reasonable”?
In the crcumstances, I’d say a good bollocking would have sufficed –

It was 11pm at night. Light traffic and no pedestrians. He was riding on the pavement

A caution and a fixed penalty notice is pretty heavy handed/quota filling, IMHO.

Thanks to all who’ve contributed, here. My daughter has found your comments and suggestions very helpful. She’s plumped for the Sefton Park/Lark Lane area and is popping over, from Leeds, on Monday for a number of viewings.

    Ta, once again.

Depends what she likes doing really. Give us a clue.

She’s a runner and is considering a bike.

Yes, here is a nice place if you need to get to Liverpool.

Yeah, well that’s where Mrs Sox and I are looking ATM. 🙂

Any opinions on the Sefton Park area?

The £15.99 merino base layers are pretty decent for the money.
I called in on the way home from work, this morning and it was getting a bit tetchy, with people shoving and pushing.

That the place in Ireland? If so I have been

Nope, the Wyre Forest. Oh, and somewhere on the Chase, another in the Peaks and a few random possibilities elsewhere in the Midlands.

RRR – I’m 6’2″ and have, ahem, a couple of 58cm roadbikes with 110mm stems………your frame seems a wee bit big, tbh. I had Lugano’s on both bikes, initially and found them OKish. (23’s on the CAAD 10 and 25’s on the alloy Synapse). The CAAD now has Pro 4’s and the Synapse has just had Conti GP’s (Black Chilli) slapped on for winter.
    These look good value –

Alcoholism is a chronic and often progressive disease that includes problems controlling your drinking, being preoccupied with alcohol, continuing to use alcohol even when it causes problems, having to drink more to get the same effect (physical dependence), or having withdrawal symptoms when you rapidly decrease or stop drinking. If you have alcoholism, you can’t consistently predict how much you’ll drink, how long you’ll drink, or what consequences will occur from your drinking.

It’s possible to have a problem with alcohol, even when it has not progressed to the point of alcoholism. Problem drinking means you drink too much at times, causing repeated problems in your life, although you’re not completely dependent on alcohol.

Binge drinking — a pattern of drinking where a male consumes five or more drinks in a row, or a female downs at least four drinks in a row — can lead to the same health risks and social problems associated with alcoholism. The more you drink, the greater the risks. Binge drinking, which often occurs with teenagers and young adults, may lead to faster development of alcoholism.

If you have alcoholism or you have a problem with alcohol, you may not be able to cut back or quit without help. Denying that you have a problem is usually part of alcoholism and other types of excessive drinking.

Pick the bones out of the above…

Meh – I’m not even a cyclist, just someone that rides a bike.

And that’s whether or not I’m on a road bike.

+1 x 100000000000. Spot on, that. Enjoy the ride, wherever. 🙂

Ran my MTB commuter with 48/34 front and a 11-26 cassette. Perfect.
Also had a slightly longer stem (105mm from 90), flat bar and bar ends, Exotic carbon fork, 2″ Big Apple tyre on the front and a 1.5″ Marathon on the rear.
