Why/how does tea and toast in hotels have a particular taste and consistency that can’t be replicated at home?

Yet to find a hotel that can better the tea and toast at home, even the, alleged, quality establishments. The toast is usually warm, at best and inevitably dry, to some extent. You also need Yorkshire water/tea to make a decent brew….. 😉

No, in fact I was anti kids. The missus wanted SIX! We “compromised” and had three. Outside of marrying Mrs Sox they are the best things I’ve ever done (…..can I say that?). All three are grown up, now but they’re all well adjusted human beings, successful in their fields and are more than happy to spend time with they’re folks and each other.
Love ’em to bits.

The incremental pay increases my lot get are based on their annual appraisals where competencies and well defined knowledge and skills frameworks are used. If the individual isn’t progressing and displaying the required competencies and ksf’s – no increment. Simples.

……………………………and I should know because I do the appraisals. Generally speaking it gives most people the incentive to get their ar5e in gear and be sorted for their six monthly review.

38 years onSunday gone I’ve been in, my skill base is set around the job I do. I’m more than 50 years old there isn’t a job I could go for locally that would pay the same quick enough for it not to effect us massively. Why should people quit their jobs, why not just offer a cost of living. Why use that 1% to modernise our pay agreement that was only modernised 8 years ago?

The various NHS “failures” highlighted in recent times are the direct result of deliberate understaffing/underpaying, amongst othe things. In other words, this government has seized the opportunity given to it, by the 2008 global banking cockup, for the dismantling of the/your/our NHS – discuss.

I have an alloy Synapse as a winter/foul weather bike. It has ‘guards, decent 25mm winter/wet weather tyres and “good” brake pads (SwissStop). Terrific fun and much faster than the slick-tyred MTB that it replaced.
