As a 6’2″ bloke with 34″ inside leg I thought I’d need a 60cm frame………..er, no. Both the CdF and Spesh Tricross felt like gates, bloody big, stretched out gates at 60cm.The 58cm CdF felt just about right. With, perhaps,a bit of faffage regarding the stem (length/elevation) it could well be perfect – or is this just my lack of experience with drops/road/cx geometry?

It will be used for commuting (10 miles on and off road) and longer road rides.

Was a fat, beer swilling, fag smoking 38yr old but was good to my wife and kids and they loved me. After a bit of self assessment decided to give up the fags, cut down the booze and, after years of couch surfing, become a bit more active. Joined a gym, bought a ‘mountain bike'(£150 gate) sorted out diet. Lost 56lbs……………….and suddenly became attractive to women!(a novelty, to say the least). At this time we had an influx of younger staff (early/mid 20’s)at work with whom I kinda fell in with – clubbing etc. The missus put up with all this with unbelievable good grace and we still got on fine. Then it happened…………..the younger woman. Won’t go into detail but went almost down the same path as Crikey, didn’t leave home/family but the fall-out was pretty bad. Was depressed for about 2yrs after ending the affair and had lots to make up to my wife and kids. Everything is good now, though. The kids are doing well and are happy, my wife still loves me and I her, the younger woman is now married and expecting a child and we are also on reasonably good terms. It could have been a **** of a lot worse and might have been if it were not for my wifes determination that our marriage was worth saving, God bless her.

I’ve had a pair on my commuter for the last 8 months – no probs at all. The commuter does actually go off road, occasionally, and the Exotics seem to track as well as the RC31s on my S/S, more or less. BTW, I use V-brakes on this setup.

Are you going to promote ‘bike to work’ scheme? The trust that I work in put out ‘feelers’ to gauge interest…………….then claimed it was ‘too much paper work’ when the torrent of ‘oh, yes!’ came in. They basically shat themselves regarding the initial cash outlay!

You’ll take a bit of a battering but, hey, isn’t that what riding MTB is about? Even as a, erm, less than skilled rider, I get around Dalby fine on my HT with a 100mm fork. Enjoy.

Crikey! I wasn’t exactly his No:1 fan but this news has brought a tear to my eye. Saw him a few times, most noteably at Leeds uni when he was aided and abetted by Danny Thompson, on stand up bass, and Paul Kossoff (Sp?) on guitar – awesome!

SFB – based on the forecast I promised ‘Her Ladyship’ that I’d do all the ‘little’ DIY jobs she’d been nattering about over the last few months – then it turned out nice!! The commute into work this morning was p155ing awful – life, eh?
