‘Avoid the Mondo! TDCI rubbish’ – really? I’ve had numerous recommendations for the 130bhp one and am actively looking for one at the mo’. Currently running a 1999 1.8 petrol Mondeo estate that has had NO major probs since I got it when it was 2yrs old. (anyone want to buy a cheapish, reliable estate?)

I had my 1998 Marin Pine Mountain frame resprayed last year – tis fine.

Never got – The Beatles, ELO, Emmerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes, Bob Dylan (no, really), Greatful Dead, Simple Minds, Thompson Twins, Depeche Mode, G’n’R,2-step R’n’B, Wombles, Cannibal Corpse, At the Gates – to name just a few.

Now getting – Drum’n’Bass (yeh, longtime coming),Replacements, Rancid, Scott Walker, Big Star, 70’s funk.

Hmm, I got my first skinny tyred, drop bar bike last week and am, currently, in lycra denial. At the mo’ it’s Aldi tops ( 🙂 ) and Hummvee 3/4s with the adjusters cinched up……..oh and MTB shoes.

I switched to a 36/22 + bash setup about 3 months ago with 11 – 32 at the back. Since I rarely used the 44t offroad it seemed sensible for me. Considering swapping the 22 for a 24.

OK, not the nicest but it is remembered fondly. With the back seats down you could get a full drum kit, 4 guitar flight cases, a HH 100w bass top, 2 x 15″ Bass cab, 2 x Fender Twin Reverbs and all the ancillary gubbins in the damn thing. The gear box is best described as a sprung mattress, filled with custard, into which was rammed a yard-brush handle.

On a group ride, 16 of us I think, we had to go through a rather jolly Leeds sink estate called Middleton in order to link up the ride. 3 chavs were sat on a sofa, in a front garden, surrounded by broken fridges/cookers etc. One of them gets unsteadily to his feet, taking care not to spill his can of Fosters or knock the ash off his ciggie, walks to the edge of the wall-less/hedgeless garden and yells ‘Look at ’em on their fookin’ bikes! Gerra life!’

It’s also nice to know that, if you use the last drop of milk for you’re bedtime beverage, there’ll be some on the doorstep at breakfast time. This gets around that 23.30 trip to the petrol station/24hr supermarket.
