I’ve been buying bikes, bits and service from my LBS since I started riding 15yrs ago. As I became more mechanically savvy the service bit dropped off somewhat but if I don’t have the tool, I’ll ask to borrow it from them(whilst waving a packet of chocolate digestives in front of the staff!!) Since I only live 10mins away and they know I’ll get it back to them fairly quickly there’s no problem. They gave my idiot son a holiday job last summer and turned him into a competent mechanic and now we both get ‘staff discount’! Unless it’s something they can’t access, I rarely buy online anymore. I sold a couple of bikes, earlier this year, that had to be couriered – I asked the LBS for boxes, which they gave me but then suggested I use their courier, at buisness rates, for overnight, tracked delivery – absolute bloody stars, ah tell thee!

Flicking through WMB in the newsagents yesterday, they raise some concerns vis a vis Troute lights – would trout care to comment/convince me to part with my ‘hard earned’?

I seem to recollect that MTBing was likened to golf – middle aged blokes spending a fortune on kit for a hobby they're not very good at, weekends away with a bunch of mates, MTB 'widows' etc, etc…………………..not that I'd subscribe to such a view, of course. My teenage sons rebellion against his father was to take up the game of golf!. 👿

BTW what sort of a doofus puts a kid, emu, and 2 donkeys in a muddy field together in the first place?

Same scientist who put Boris Johnson, a bag of 'shrooms and an Ardvaark in a room – he was testing 'The Chaos Theory'.

Interesting debate there, people, thanks for the insight. So it's a bit like a very expensive Inbred (I currently ride the 853 Inbred) – you love the 5 and buy into it's idiosyncrasies or…………..you don't.

    PMSL!!!! @ –
This will probably sound a bit inflammatory, but if I was a few years older and wanted something a little more confidence inspiring and comfortable (rather than efficiency and alert orientated) for a slightly more middle aged outlook, I'd have chosen the Orange 5. The differences are pretty semantic though – either (or anything from a list of 20+ others I expect) would have been great. So to answer the original question – If I was 45+yrs old, for me, probably yes, but I'm not so no
    I won't be seeing 45 again!! 🙂

Where once were men are now but sheep

    -a fiction and far cry

    From planet earth's proud animal

-who would be you and I.

Alas, our forebears drank the cup of poisoned alibi
And made excuses far and wide,

and made God in the sky.

This boogaloo's now round the world

    -bad trips for everyone.

No more the man of paradise

    or the Celt of Albion.

They queue like burning moths to spread the all-time vicious lie.

    You christians destroyed our tribe

-I'll fight you till I die.

And you can cut me down for what I said

But goodness lives where God is dead.

The history of religion is the history of the State

Incestuous exploiters of a catalogue of hate.

The man of peace was over-run by armies of the "Lord"

Who signed their names to any war

and sang to praise the sword.

The mission heads for outer space

    the voices ring and swell

    With aeons of self-righteousness

    the senseless echoes knell

The words get much more meaningless

    -even plainer to tell

That those who would pronounce this God

are those who make this hell.

And you can cut me down for what I said

But goodness lives where God is dead.

LOVE IS THE great triumph over christianity.

She made a fool of silly priests. She mocked authority.

She filled her bed with happiness. She gripped his loins for joy

And felt ecstatic agonies and screamed the sweetest cry.

Her children are the legacy of failure to be chained

An everasting mutiny of flowers where it rained.

    They rise out of oppression

    They speak with one accord.

The fountains breath- the spirit lives-

    The future rests assured.

Sat – rode into work, worked 12hrs, rode home, ate pasta, drank beer, slept.

Sun – gave daughter No:1 a lift down to Sheffield, drove back, had lunch, went for a local walk with missus, felt the onset of Man-flu, went to bed.

Mon – have Man-flu, rode into work, working for 12hrs……………….etc. 🙁
