Suprisingly, it doesn’t bounce around and the Freeflow system keeps the back, fairly, unsweaty. I’m a bit suspicious of panniers,to be honest, although I’ve never tried them. Don’t they effect bike stability – partcularly off road (about a 1/3rd of my commute can be done on, erm, “urban singletrack”)?

Can’t add much to the preceeding, excellent, advice but find a Schwalbe Big Apple (2″) on the front of the dedicated MTB based commuter Frankenbike adds a wee bit of comfort. Use a Berghaus 30+8 Freeflow rucksack for transporting clothes, food and files – also contains enough spares/tools/locks to stock a small shop. Weighed it last week before setting off into work and it came out at 10.2kg!!

Diagnosed with mild OA 15yrs ago – advised to cycle/stay active (I can, therefore, hold the GP responsible for the £££££££££’s I’ve, subsequently, spent on bikes/biking!). Glucosamine/chondroitin + knee warmers have, possibly, been contributory to it not getting any worse.

Christ! If you have a large stock of shed tyres just see which set/combo works best for you. Stop trying to spend more than you need to. 🙄

Hmm. Also have a couple of MTBs getting dusty, forsaken due to the purchase of a CAAD 10…..BUT as I was (road) riding over to see the brother and sister-in-laws, on Sunday (Leeds to Widdup reservoir via Hebden Bridge/Hardcastle Crags), I got the MTB itch again. I blame it on all those jolly, cheery folk riding West Yorkshire Filing Cabinets that I met as they crossed my path to get onto some tasty looking trails.
BTW, I did say hello/smiled. 🙂

I didn’t want any, Mrs Sox wanted FOUR……so we compromised and had three. Wouldn’t be without the silly buggers now (24,22 and 19). 😀
