Not been on this forum for a (long) while and am quite shocked and saddened that Mark has passed away. I remember reading his story when he was first diagnosed and feeling so inspired by his, Erm, ” bullish” attitude towards his condition. My admiration only grew, over the years, as he fought back harder than I ever could.
Condolences to MrsB and the children. He left an awesome legacy.
Glad you got a good send off, fella.
    Long may you ride.

MacBook. The soks male offspring got one for uni 5 years ago and uses it for “working from home” duties now. In terms of bangs per buck it’s been a revelation (to me, anyway). His sister, PhD student, is on her third Windows based contraption in three years.

Since a bad knee injury, five years ago, my mtb riding has got progressively worse – not that it was brilliant in the first place. Every time I come to something, vaguely, sketchy, the anchors get dropped, as I immediately start thinking about damaging my knee again. I’m fine with the road bike so I’ll be sticking with that. Anyone want to buy a large Cannondale 29er?
    🙁

Cumbria and the Dales are massively overrated. I wouldn’t bother if I were you.

Went to a gig, recently and thought the place was full of old gits. Mentioned it to my 26 year old daughter, who was also in attendance. She immediately took a picture of me on her phone, showed it to me and suggested that I reconsider my remarks.

Got the 1.4TSi Octavia estate on order. 150bhp, 0 – 60 in, just over, 8sec and a top end in excess of 130mph. Unladen towing weight of 1500 kg.
Drives well, looks reasonable, what’s not to like? (Apart from the fact that it IS A SKODA, as I’m sure the badge snobs will point out).

Alt berg are excellent boots, made in a number of width fittings – I have some Tethera’s. Designed in Richmond, North Yorkshire, all their hiking boots are made in Italy, these days.
At the end of the day, though, the best boots are the one’s that fit you – as already said.

A lot of my “biking buddies” we’re met on biking forums. Worryingly, the majority were via bikemagic.com…

What Dennis99 said. Also, I packed it all in 8 years early – not something I foresaw in my mind 40’s. Luckily, I’d made a few financial provisions as well as having a superannuated, final salary pension (don’t even think of starting on that!). I’ve, actually, taken a fair hit, financially but the lifestyle change/choice thing has been more than worth it – you cut your cloth accordingly, bin the stress and chill out.
    Life’s sweet.

The local churches (various denominations) have been giving out cards, to put on your door, saying “Halloween is not celebrated at this house. No trick or treaters, please”.

I wear a gilet a lot. I wear a packable rain coat rarely and only when the rain is substantial – mainly because they’re horrible to ride in at any pace.

This is great – not. I’ve a few test drives booked next week and they’re all diesels. 2 of them are VAG. Should I sack off the idea of diesel altogether (no,I don’t do the mileage but I do tow a caravan) or wait for “further revelations” and see which way the emissions blow………?

0.5 hrs – £25. Obviously, I’m out of touch with pricing. As I said in my original post, I didn’t want to go off on one without establishing some facts. It is what it is – no offence intended.

Just asking for information…….not an argument, ta. Compared to my old LBS – admittedly a couple of years back, the quote for labour was excessive, imo.
