Watching with interest. Was thinking of picking up a second hand mirrorless to take out on the gravel bike

Gorillaz at Glasto circa 2010ish. They were embarrassingly bad.

Great pics Tracey, I’m always envious of your ability to ride seemingly every weekend, especially so today though! 👍🏻

One of these from Amazon. Has the normal ding dong, plus all sorts of others. Also acts as a handy night light if you want it to.

Went for a ride, stopped for a cup of tea, bacon buttie and a slice of cake. Now sat in the garden eating ice cream, washing down with some coke.

    Curry for dinner tonight!

Yeah I was thinking more getting people / bikes / cars in the right place at the beginning/end than accommodation really

Depends where in N Devon but if getting into biking, perhaps look at accommodation and supporting logistics for those doing Devon coast to coast.  When I looked before, it seemed like a bit of a faff (going south to north)

I heard some local yoofs calling each other “Harry Maguire” as an insult the other day 😂

The enforced WFH has manifested in what I call Little Bo Peep Syndrome with some management teams.

They’ve lost their sheep and they don’t like it.

I shall be stealing this phrase!

I wish people would stop judging my financial position. Trust me, I can afford it. I just don’t want to

So is this thread just a humblebrag then?

That’s the issue though isn’t it – I would happily try and approach it in a non confrontational way, but sadly my expectation is that I’d get a mouthful of abuse in return, and create animosity that I’d rather not have in my street. I think that’s more a reflection on society than people who drive too fast though

    Butcher +1.

It never ceases to amaze me the speed at which some people drive down our cul de sac, including one family who have young kids of their own who take the racing line down the street and brake hard onto their driveway

Had the same offer, I was impressed by their generosity

I got the distinct impression when we had our extension done that there wasn’t a huge amount of planning ahead by the builder, and he relied heavily on the merchant delivering next day. This was in 2020 so there were materials shortages due to covid.

Point to remember tho’ is that while you’re being vituous and living in the shithole there’s a price gap to something better/not a shithole, and that the difference in price, in the time you’re living there , is increasing disproportionately , and getting ever further and further out of reach for a lot of people.

    This x100.

I was about to buy a apple homepod mini when I found the BBC have blocked direct playing of BBC radio stations on it. you can do it through the BBC sounds app but not natively.

short sighted if they are rolling this across amazon/google as well. .

You can create an automation on your iPhone so that it will play via Siri.

Can you? I thought the Echo Dot only had audio in, you need a full-sized Echo for output?

You can with my Mk1 echo dot at least, just use a 3.5mm cable. I have exactly that in the garage

You can plug an Alexa in to an amplifier so you get the smart function and to use your speakers too. Given that you can often pick up an echo dot for £20, that’s a cheap way of getting the best of both worlds.

99% of the time Alexa is flawless, the 1% of time that it isn’t, all the luddites come out of the woodwork!

I can draw parallels to what you describe and myself. I have started doing 20 mins HIIT routines each day after work, and that really helps. I try and do it as soon as I get in the door or as soon as I switch my laptop off if wfh. As it’s only 20 mins it’s easy to do (just search for joe wicks hiit on YouTube – no equipment is needed). When I’m done, I’m no longer thinking about work.

Also I found having a separate work and personal mobile helps – work mobile only on during working hours, and no teams/outlook on my personal phone.

I have a eufy indoor cam. If you have an iCloud+ subscription then you can use the home app to control it, and Apple will store footage for you for 10 days (I think – maybe 14), and supposedly make it all secure etc. A bit of a no brainer for me as I have iCloud+ for extra cloud storage anyhow

Aren’t they i-spec levers? So you should be able to use a common clamp for brakes and shifter

Have been using an Apple TV for our main source of tv for several years now. All the main apps are there (bbc, itv, channel 4, channel 5, now tv, Disney, prime, Netflix etc).

It works particularly well if you have other Apple devices, you can use phone or iPad as a remote, AirPlay to it etc.

I changed to it because our aerial was a bit useless, and the apps built into the tv were laggy and became unsupported as the tv aged.
