Because his personal situation may be seen as enviable? Yes he might be a bit brash with it, but unless I’ve missed something (and I’m willing to be shown where if I have), I’m not sure that warrants calling him a very horrible person.

I’m happy to be proven wrong though!

I can highly recommend 7islandsurf in Fuerteventura.

He’s very thin skinned if his response is to say it’s wrong to blame him. He is the PM, the buck stops with him, and he should be expected to find a way out of this problem, not whinge that he’s been criticised.

Maybe he could start by diverting the budget for renovating the House of Commons towards the schools.

You sound like someone who is congenitally thin thinking you’re better than people who are fat. Lots of places in England have a whole different set of problems to begin with. Transport is a result of a whole load of issues, only some of which are political. Many are historical and even topographical. So whilst it’s perfectly possible for some places to be better run (frankly not hard in the case of the UK) don’t get too smug.

Zoggs predator flex for me. After a few swims they begin to fog up a little, but not too bad. Fit is always good for me

Garmin instinct. Relatively cheap, does all you have listed, long battery life.

Can you fit an ebike in the back of your Isuzu though?

You demand an answer to your objections, otherwise you’re cancelling your subs?

I didn’t say I was cancelling, but that it’s likely to cause others too – as demonstrated by somebody else stating that prior to the STW response.  Given the repeated STW requests for people to sign up and support them, it feels like not a lot of thought has gone into this. Unless they are getting paid enough for the ad for it to make it worth their while.

That’s a pretty tone deaf response from stw, and certainly one that is unlikely to encourage people to hold onto their subs.

Not sure about Alicante, but how about south coast of Spain – Malaga, or Portugal?

Ragley from crc/wiggle is £1200. Keep an eye out for any more sales promotions, they had 10% off bikes a few weeks ago

edit – sorry, I thought you were asking for circa £1000, not £900. Either way, I’d be looking for a bike with hydraulic brakes, due to the cost of the inevitable upgrade

If 20 is too much for 2nd gear, and too little for 3rd gear, just drive at less than 20 in 2nd. 20mph is the limit, not the target

Maybe keep the number of a local taxi firm to hand in case you have problems on the way home

    towpathman

Err I dunno, perhaps looking at your tyres once in a while (quite easy as you don’t need to lift the bonnet/look under the car), especially prior to an MOT?

But if you really think that buying a used taxi is a good idea, you crack on.

It’s not like there is a shortage of Nissan leafs, why buy a taxi which clearly didn’t have a preventative approach to maintenance applied?

You’ve either lost control of your senses, or you thrive off the drama!

Check out 7 island surf in Fuerteventura. It’s been years since I’ve been, but it was excellent – and all the reviews I have just seen suggests it is still Tom who does the teaching, and all the reviews are excellent.

The way to compare apples with apples isn’t to compare two cars with the same powertrain, but to compare the major factors which determine the drag of a vehicle at any given speed, namely

    – Mass

    – Frontal area

    – Coefficient of drag

The mass and frontal area are clearly higher for a bigger car (SUV), the coefficient or drag will be largely dependent on the vehicle.

Then you can also question if the powertrain in any given car could be smaller or more efficient to give further improvements.

We need to start treating our resources as scarce and be more efficient in our use of them

Maybe consider an external monitor and keyboard/mouse for use in her room with whatever laptop you get? Especially if using a 13” screen, would make long days at the computer more comfortable

    towpathman

The problem I find with ultra wide vs 2 screens is that with 2 screens you can split each one, and have 4 windows tiled, whereas with an ultra wide, it will only split 2, so having more than 2 windows tiled is a faff. Not sure if I’m missing a trick somehow

Without knowing your lad, don’t immediately rule out a degree. A mechanical engineering degree and a design / development role would still allow him to get his hands dirty, but would also open up a lot more doors longer term.

Anyhow, sounds like he had a great time which is the main thing 👍🏻

Only you can make the call, some good points raised above.

If I’m not wrong you are late 40s/early 50s? In which case “mentoring up to management” sounds like the kind of carrot you offer somebody in their 20s. By this stage of your career you should be looking to get what you want, and not put up with vague promises of what might happen in the future

700-900 is expensive – had mine recently fitted for £550. Where are you based?
