Engineering excellence? I’d say that designing something that is more accurate, requires no maintenance (apart from a £1 battery every few years), is accessible to millions of people around the world, and can be sold at a profit for £20 is a much greater engineering achievement than something over complicated, less accurate, requires expensive services, and costs many many times more to make and buy.

I often do wonder how many normal folk have amassed a pension pot >£750k or so when they retire.

A bit less money spent on multiple new cars and multiple high end bikes might have put you in the same situation? There is nothing wrong with having those things, but we all choose our compromises (those of us in a fortunate position to be able to afford expensive toys or putting money into a pension – clearly this isn’t everyone)

@CountZero – thanks for the recommendation, I have ordered one. I prefer to order from a brand I’m inclined to trust instead of the many Chinese branded ones on Amazon, that could pose a fire risk when charging. 

Have a search on eBay for genuine go pro. Plenty of people selling used full kits that have seen little use  (including extra batteries, mounts etc) for much less than retail, plus you know genuine go pro is likely to last better than an Amazon special

If the owners of STW recognised that there was a problem with damaging content being able to be instantly uploaded to their platform, then they would need to make a decision if they should continue with their platform in its current state. I don’t believe that is an issue with STW, but clearly it is with YouTube, Facebook etc

It’s not that they “choose not to”, it’s that it’s simply not possible!

It’s not possible if they have the policy that anybody can upload / uploads are instant / whatever their current policy is. But if they changed their policy so that nothing could find its way online until it had been robustly checked, then such damaging content wouldn’t find its way onto YouTube. 

But if they took this approach, they wouldn’t be able to continue making the same amount of money they currently do. So the consequences of damaging content getting online is basically seen as collateral damage, whilst they continue to make money. 

Maybe they could just not allow any content to be shown unless it has been robustly checked.

But they choose not to do that as it’s too hard / they want to make money.

That’s the thing for me with cars like the 911 – the first time I drove one, it was quick (and certainly quick enough to get into trouble on the road),  but not mind bendingly quick. Definitely a case of not meeting your hero for me as a long time 911 admirer. To get mind bending quick, you need to be driving a very high end super car/hypercar.

You can’t drive them fast on the road unless you want to risk losing your license, and they aren’t cheap to run.

An mx5 will give you the roof down enjoyment of a rwd car, without the license losing ability, or cost of ownership. It might not have the badge, but who cares if you are enjoying yourself?

Premier inn in slough was fine despite being in an industrial estate. Parking over the road in the multi storey. Usual on site restaurant, but plenty of places in Windsor to eat anyhow. 10 mins drive into Windsor.
