Never judge the ability of somebody to swim well based off their body shape. A young lad got in the pool recently, he was a bit overweight, I thought he’d be slowing me down. He then proceeded to do 100m sets in 1m15, left me for dead

Seems like you can pick up a wax jacket for £40-£50, but if you go Barbour you are looking at £200. What’s the deal – same quality but farmers won’t pay what the middle class aspirational barbour customer will?

Presumably if you change your mind in a few months and decide you want an extra policy again, the cost will be more than you are paying now due to your older age at the point of taking out a new policy

What would happen if you sat in a pub beer garden playing a  YouTube reel of Gary Linekars Walkers crisps adverts on your phone?

All of the smoking gammons would be outraged at the videos of woke Lineker? ;-)

Maybe all of these community minded smokers could give up smoking and still support their local pub, instead of being a snowflake and giving up on the pub because they can’t smoke there.  In fact, with all the money saved on cigarettes, these fine outstanding citizens of the community will have more money to spend in the pub, and pubs will flourish.

This is a great idea, let’s get the ban through asap!

as mentioned above we also need to change attitudes to obesity.  My GP told me I am slim.  I am actually right at the top edge of “normal”  BMI pushing towards overweight and at least a stone overweight

This. Obesity has become normalised. Being slim is becoming a rarity, and people see being “chubby” as being ok.

The boot floor is raised on the 2litre due to the battery, with the 1.8 the battery remains in the engine bay. Might be worth looking for a 1.8 estate

If you haven’t already considered it, for wfh it’s well worth having a jabra style speakerphone so you don’t have to wear headphones all day. You’ll get one on eBay for £40ish

For headphones, I guess it depends on your budget

Get the online for 12 months & expansion pack – this gets you extra tracks etc in Mario kart, online play, plus loads of game boy, snes, nes etc games. Our kids really enjoy playing the old games.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about the oled too much, I try and encourage ours to use it through the tv instead of having their face too close to a small screen.

We have similar setup with Apple TV and HomePods, I believe I can get sound through the HomePods using EARC but I haven’t tried it yet

The diagram that Craig Scarborough had was of a flow regulating valve closed by inertia.

It’s just a simplified diagram. A proper hydraulics diagram wouldn’t make sense to most readers

If the port is open at all, the pressure on each side will equalize

The system would control a pressure regulating valve, not a flow regulating valve, so the brakes can be biased as needed to aid the steering of the car

Def second hand. Loads of people on eBay with 2nd hand go pros, mounts, spare batteries etc. £100 will buy you a full setup, and avoid the cheap Chinese crap

Nah, mate, it doesn’t work like that

It does work like that though. When we realise that our behaviour has negative consequences, we make a conscious effort to change our behaviour for the better. It might appear hypocritical, but really that doesn’t matter if we are improving. That’s how society progresses.

If a guard takes issue with my self checkout, I am happy to point out that they’ve just had five to ten minutes of my time. My professional rate is about 30x the checkout wage, and I will be happy to receive my remuneration.

Nice. Are there any other areas of life where you object to the lowly paid minions bothering you based upon your superior salary?

It just shows the level of greed and contempt they have, even for small amounts of money. Craig Williams is reported to have placed £100 at 5:1 odds. So he stands to gain £500. Is it really worth the risk over £500?

@iainc – how do you find your Apple Watch for accuracy when swimming? I have an instinct 1 which I really like, but it does miss off the odd length here and there when swimming.
